Chapter 82 - The Final Stand

Kilua's heart pounded in his chest, his body a twisted mess of exhaustion and raw, untapped energy. His mind was swirling with fragments of thoughts and emotions, but there was only one thing that mattered now: survival. Illumi was still standing, though battered and gasping for breath, but Kilua had no time to relish in the victory. The battle was far from over.

With a mocking sneer, Illumi pushed himself to his feet, blood dripping from his lip. His eyes, cold and calculating, never once strayed from Kilua.

"Impressive, Kilua," Illumi said, his voice laced with admiration but filled with venom. "But do you really think that a flash of power will save you?"

Kilua's entire being trembled from the sheer intensity of his Nen. His body felt like it was burning from the inside out, each muscle screaming in protest. But he wasn't finished—not yet.

"I don't need saving," Kilua growled, his voice tight with fury. "I just need to finish this."

Kilua's aura flared once again, and the storm of electricity that had subsided began to grow once more. But this time, there was a sense of desperation behind his actions. The energy coursing through him was wild, untamed. The force of his Nen caused the air around him to crackle and distort. His vision was blurry, but he could feel the power building in the pit of his stomach, ready to erupt.

Illumi, however, was not intimidated. With a sharp motion, he raised his hand, his own Nen flaring to life. The air between them grew thick with tension, and Kilua could feel the weight of Illumi's power pushing down on him, crushing him.

"You still haven't learned, have you?" Illumi's voice was like ice, chilling Kilua's bones. "You can never beat me. You've never had the strength to break free of our family's hold. And you never will."

Kilua's eyes narrowed in anger. The words stung, but they only fueled his determination. He wasn't the same helpless child who had once been confined to the Zoldyck mansion. He had grown stronger. He had learned to fight, to survive, to protect what mattered most.

Without another word, Kilua launched himself at Illumi. The air exploded with the intensity of their clash, the crackling of electricity mixing with the sharp, violent movements of their Nen. Every strike Kilua delivered felt like it could shatter the very earth beneath them, but Illumi was always one step ahead. His movements were graceful, precise, as though he had anticipated every move Kilua made.

Kilua felt his body growing weaker with each failed strike. His mind was beginning to fog, his vision blurring further. But he couldn't stop—not when Gon was still waiting for him, not when he had come so far.

In a final act of desperation, Kilua drew on the last remnants of his strength, pushing his Nen to its absolute limit. His body trembled, his breath coming in short gasps, but he forced his hand forward, unleashing a final, devastating burst of lightning that shot straight toward Illumi.

The world seemed to hold its breath. The air crackled with energy, and for a split second, everything froze. Then, with a deafening roar, the blast collided with Illumi's barrier, and the explosion sent shockwaves through the battlefield.

Kilua was thrown back by the force of the blast, his body crashing to the ground. His vision was spinning, the world around him darkening as he tried to gather his bearings. His body was broken, bruised, but the satisfaction of having landed such a blow against his older brother flooded his chest.

Illumi's figure emerged from the smoke, unharmed but visibly shaken. His usual cold composure had cracked, but he still stood tall, his eyes burning with fury. "You're stronger than I thought, Kilua," Illumi said, his voice barely a whisper. "But it's still not enough."

Kilua knew it was true. He had given everything, and yet it still wasn't enough. His body was broken, his Nen exhausted, and the fight had reached a deadly stalemate. There was no way to defeat Illumi without paying a price. But Kilua wasn't going to back down. He had come too far, and he couldn't stop now.

Illumi stepped forward, his hand crackling with dark Nen. "This is where it ends," he said coldly, and Kilua felt a wave of dread wash over him. He knew that if this attack landed, it would be the end of everything.

But then, just as Illumi raised his hand to strike, Kilua felt a strange pull in the air. Something shifted in the atmosphere, something deep and unseen. His heart skipped a beat as he recognized the familiar presence—a presence that made his blood run cold.

"No... not now..." Kilua whispered to himself, panic flooding his chest. He had only one chance to survive, but the universe had other plans.
