Lilia stopped as well, turning to him, her eyes staring into his as she studied his face. Curious about his sudden pause, she wondered what could have made him react that way. She searched his features intently.
Zethan finally moved then, taking her hands and entwining his fingers with hers. Silently, they both walked down the hallway until they reached Lilia's chambers. But just as they approached the doors, Lilia sensed something was off. Zethan closed the door behind them, now standing face-to-face with her.
"Loris, tell me… how far did you read in that book?" he asked softly, his voice calm.
Lilia blinked rapidly at him—once, twice, thrice, then again.
Zethan was serious. His expression was unreadable.
Lilia's hands flew to her mouth as she pointed at him.
"Don't tell me you've read that book… Oh, you naughty husband of mine! Reading that! Tell me, how far did you go?"
