Chapter 118 - Tohka Lost Something Serious

Cough cough cough, "You really are one unlovable chick. Geez, I only said a couple of lines. Who is she to you, anyway? Why so aggressive?"

As Tohka's words fell, everyone saw the guy in the red bodysuit from earlier climb up from the ground with his neck tilted at a weird angle.

Crack.

Then, under everyone's shocked gaze, he placed both hands on his neck and, with a firm twist, snapped his head back into place.

"..."

Okay, everyone was once again terrified. They knew a broken neck was basically as good as death, yet this guy didn't seem hurt at all. He just twisted his head back like it was nothing.

"Mm, that's much better."

But Deadpool didn't care at all how others viewed him. He was rotating his neck back and forth, clearly testing if everything was back in place.

"Uh... is that guy even human?"

Miku Izayoi, stunned by what she saw, was dumbfounded. There were actually people who could do that?

This guy wrapped himself up so tightly—maybe he wasn't human at all.

Maybe the bodysuit was just there to help him maintain a humanoid form.

What was under that mask—bugs? A pig? Or maybe... a slime?

Miku Izayoi quickly shook her head and pushed those thoughts away.

The more she thought about it, the scarier it felt.

Instead, she hurriedly looked at Tohka, who looked completely unfazed—clearly, she already knew about all this.

The surrounding crowd, seeing that nothing serious had happened, gradually dispersed.

They were here to have fun, after all.

A little drama was fine, but let's not forget—those tickets weren't cheap.

"Hmph, that's what you get for flapping your mouth so much."

To Deadpool's complaints, Tohka only snorted coldly.

Was this guy kidding? His mouth could run forever—if she let him keep talking, they'd still be here at sunset.

But she had no desire to argue with him.

She knew no one in the Marvel Universe could outtalk Deadpool.

So, she adjusted her expression and got to the point.

"What do you know about what happened yesterday?"

"Hahaha, now we're talking, young lady."

Hearing Tohka's question, Deadpool calmly walked over and took out a little notebook.

As he spoke, he started jotting things down.

"Let me see… courier fee from earlier… delayed labor compensation for helping you get info… oh, and disability allowance..."

"Stop! Enough!"

Seeing him go on and on, Tohka knew this guy was just angling for money.

So, she quickly cut him off.

"That's better—one million dollars. Honest price."

Hearing Tohka's interruption, Deadpool quoted his price without hesitation.

When it came to money, he was unusually efficient—even his usual banter got skipped.

"That's robbery!"

At that moment, Miku Izayoi stood dumbfounded at Tohka's side.

This guy just opened his mouth and demanded a million—how was that not robbery?

Even at her peak, she could barely earn that much in a year.

"Miss, that's not fair."

Hearing Miku's comment, Deadpool wagged his finger at her in disapproval.

"You gotta understand who's backing this girl. That kind of money is pocket change to him. And besides, the info I got nearly cost me my life."

"Look at me—old bones, no savings. Can't a guy get a meal around here?"

"Stop, stop. I don't have that kind of money right now. How about I write you an IOU and you go ask Tony directly?"

Tohka cut him off again.

She truly didn't have that much money.

She wasn't Tony Stark—how could she be carrying around a million bucks?

"Ah, I see. Well then, I'll just go find Tony. I'm sure that guy would be thrilled."

Deadpool shook his head with exaggerated regret.

"Enough, you jerk! You're only doing this because you saw there's profit to be made! Fine! I'll contact Tony right now!"

Tohka shouted at him and immediately opened a call with Tony.

"What's up, my lady? How's the San Francisco trip? Also, that move you pulled today—so brutal! Gave me a neat idea, though."

The moment the call connected, Tony's flamboyant voice came through.

Clearly, Jarvis had already told him that she was in San Francisco.

"I ran into a certain bounty hunter who knows something about last night. But he wants a million before he'll talk. And I don't have the money."

Tohka didn't bother with chit-chat and got straight to the point.

"You mean… that red bodysuit freak from before?"

Tony paused for a second before suddenly realizing something.

"The guy who took my deposit and ran?

And now he wants more?!"

"Ahem… he's already made it up to me. He gave me something pretty interesting, so he doesn't owe me anything."

Tohka quickly explained.

Only now did she remember that she hadn't told Tony about that yet—no wonder he sounded so pissed.

"Is that so?

Well then, let me take a look when you get back. Also, just hand him the phone."

Tony didn't press her on what the item was.

He was more concerned about something else.

After all, Nick Fury had taken a lot of heat from yesterday's incident—he might even lose his job.

Now that they had identified the responsible party, they couldn't let Fury just take the fall.

Tony didn't know who might take over next—and that was dangerous.

"Got it. Talk to him yourself."

Tohka nodded and handed the phone to Deadpool, leaving them to their conversation.

"Tohka, what's going on?"

Miku Izayoi asked curiously.

She hadn't been around long, so she didn't really understand what had happened.

But based on Tohka's expression and the recent conversation, something big was clearly up.

"It's nothing. Just something about last night's battle."

Tohka shrugged helplessly—she didn't know how to explain.

But at that moment, she instinctively reached into the pocket where she'd kept the symbiote Venom.

Suddenly, her body broke out in a cold sweat—

Because she discovered that the Venom, which had been stored there, was… gone.
