Cherreads

Chapter 3 - chapter 3

POV1ST PERSON

'I have been living in this clearing for about a month from what I can tell. and it's been really peace full except that' I look over a a certain vulture that doesn't seem to get that I don't want to fight it no matter what I do.

The damn thing showed up with the others, the 'others' being a really weird collection of animals like why is a deer, a dove, a swan, a donkey, a peacock, a vulture, a horse, an eagle, a crane and a owl doing hanging out together. Like those animals shouldn't even have ever interacted with each other outside of maybe a zoo.

I sigh and turn away from the vulture to pay attention to the cabin I'm making for myself as I don't see any need to leave this area, I mean any tree I go near seems to be have edible fruit like apples and such.

With my sword I effortlessly cut one more tree down before using the positive part of breath of the world pumping ungodly amounts of life energy into the stump making a small sapling sprout.

I drag the log over to my almost completed cabin and get to work processing the log into a more usable state. I end up with a shaved log, a large amount of discarded bark and a collection of sticks of all sizes.

(Timeskip to after I have finished putting my cabin together)

I stand back and hum positively "that isn't too bad" I give a small barely there smile at the cabin I made all by my self with nothing but a sword and my bare hands.

As I stand proudly Infront of the cabin I notice the only one of the 'animal' that I actually like, the donkey. I give the donkey some pats absently while think of what to do next.

Before I can decide to do anything I hear a child screaming in the distance, even before my brain can process the scream I'm already gone.

POV 3RD PERSON

As the animals only start to hear the child scream the swordsman is gone in a crack of thunder and a flash of light already halfway there before they realise what's happening.

The man arrives to the scream to the sight of a little boy with flames licking at his arms running from a massive Cyclops like monster. With a flash the boy is suddenly on the other side of the clearing and the monster is missing a hand.

The boy looks up to the man Infront of him "help me please" the boy begs, the swordsman nods and moves Infront of the monster.

"You are a child of flame correct" the swordsman asks as he walks closer to the monster. The boy nods slowly, "then I'll give you the same advice the last child of flame I knew said" the man slowly unsheathed his katana. "Take all that would hurt you, all your pain, all your fear, all your hate, all of it and set it ablaze use it as fuel to move faster, to hit harder, to overcome all in your path. Or as he beautifully said" the man raised his blade above his head with both hands.

"Set your heart ablaze" the sword the man was holding was engulfed if bright flames, "flame breathing - 9th form Rengoku"

Before either the boy or the monster could blink the man was gone in a busy of flame the place her was standing engulfed in scorching heat and the Cyclops's head split from his head disintegrating into gold dust.

As the monster was fading the boy watched with awe when the man walked back through the gold dust a small smirk on his face, "so did you understand kiddo" the boy nodded vigorously then closed his eyes.

As the man was about to raise his eyebrow the boy was engulfed in bright red and gold flames that didn't seem to burn anything. The man was a bit surprised but just calmly reached into the fire and pet the kid on the head.

"Yeah, you got it" he chuckled and started to walk back to his cabin before stopping and turning to the kid standing there nervously. The man raised an eyebrow " you coming kiddo?" The boy smiled cheerfully and ran to catch up to the man.

As the unusual pair arrive back in the man's clearing the boy was surprised to see such a large collection of weird animals but decided to ignore it. The animals though seemed interested in why the boy was here but chose to pay attention to the man instead.

The man stopped Infront of his cabin and crouched to get on the boys level. "I'm guessing that monster wasn't the only one around?" The boy nodded. "Ok if you want I can train you to do as I do, do you want to?" The boy nodded so fast the man was scared the kids neck might brake so he stopped him.

"Ok but it'll be brutal for a kid like you" the boy took a second to steady himself before answering "demigods like me are born to fight and kill monster and other enemy's of the gods of Olympus. So it's either get good at fighting or die" the boy stopped for a second then continued tearfully "I don't want to die mister."

The fact a child this young (12) has already accepted that his life was fight or die broke the man's heart so he nodded. "Alright training starts tomorrow at 6am so be ready."
