Zara sat in the office, hunched over her desk, pencil in hand, eyes fixed on the half-finished design before her. Her thoughts, however, weren't cooperating. The lines on her sketchpad blurred, tangled in the noise inside her head.
"Zara, what are you doing? You're supposed to sketch the interior first," Nadia said, not for the first time.
Zara sighed, dragging her hand across her forehead. She had redrawn the same damn section three times, and it still looked wrong. Her phone buzzed again on the table beside her—Melissa. She didn't even need to check.
"I know," she mumbled. "I just—my head's all over the place."
Nadia leaned against the edge of her desk. "You were sharper last night. What happened?"
Zara shrugged, feeling the pressure building at the base of her skull. "Wish I could go back to when I didn't have to work."
Nadia raised an eyebrow. "So you could sit around and sulk? Nope. Not happening."
Zara let out a soft laugh, and Nadia smirked.
