Ethan laughed as he made himself comfortable on the couch. "Come on, Uncle. You can't be serious about what you said at the funeral."
Kendrick rushed forward, grabbing Ethan by the arm and pulling him to his feet. "Ethan, we already talked. I'm not investing a single dollar in someone as dishonest as you."
Ethan dug his heels into the ground, resisting. "I made mistakes—who doesn't? But I'm still family, Uncle. You can't cut me off like this over... that."
Kendrick's jaw tightened. He shut his eyes for a brief second, trying to suppress the anger boiling inside him. Ethan spoke like Zara's pain meant nothing.
"Do you feel any shame at all?" he asked, his voice low with disgust.
Ethan leaned back against the doorframe, arms folded across his chest. "Of course I do. Getting the bare minimum at her brother's company, only because she begged them not to fire me...that's shame, Uncle."
