Chapter 17 - Which club to join?

Astra was walking through the hallway with Sylvie. They had both grown closer after sitting together every day in class, and they became great friends. However, after a week, she would still mostly talk to Astra while writing things in a book.

"Astra, wait."A soft and shaky voice spoke. She held his shirt to stop him from moving forward.

"What happened?"Sylvie pointed at a wooden board with many papers stuck on it.

"The club board?"Sylvie nodded her head and wrote in a book — I want to join a club.

"O-ok, I guess I'll join a club too."They both continued to browse through numerous pages of beautiful fonts and reasons for joining their club, but eventually, they were left with two options:Either the 'Hunting Club' or the 'Weaponry Club'.

Astra held both papers in his hand while bending slightly so Sylvie could see them too."Okay, we've been here for 10 minutes, so I say that we both just choose one when I count to 3." He turned to her, "Got it?"

Sylvie nodded back at him while cutely but seriously looking at him, ready to choose one."Okay, 3... 2... 1..."Astra raised one of his hands while Sylvie pointed at one. Both of them ended up choosing the Hunting Club.

Astra sighed heavily, "Thank God we found one." He stuck both papers back on the wall and then turned his head toward Sylvie. She looked happy.'Cute.' Astra gave a soft smile and shook his head quickly.'What was I thinking just now? Well, I'm not wrong though.'

Sylvie poked his stomach and showed him her book, which read — Why are you shaking your head?Astra turned to her and scratched his head while laughing lightly, "Nothing, just ignore it." He then stopped scratching his head."Well, I guess I'll see you tomorrow at the club meeting."He waved bye to her and left for his dorm.

He put his palm on his face, "What happened to me there?"

The next day. At the Hunting Club's room.

"Hello, new students. Welcome to the Hunting Club. I am the club's president, and my name is Hans."Astra looked around the room.'Wow, this is a big room for a club that's not fairly popular.'

Each club has a designated room for itself; the more popular the club, the bigger the room they get. Some clubs even have two rooms.'I didn't expect him to be here.' Astra saw a young man with blue eyes and fairly long hair resting his face on his knuckles while listening to Hans.

"I am a third-year in Class A and the Warrior Division."When you become a second-year, the batch will be divided into five divisions — warriors, archers, mages, blacksmiths, and priests — based on their invisible power, but even dividing the batch doesn't stop the class authority split, except when the class topic is battle training. At that time, every student in the division takes part.

Hans continued talking about the club and how thankful he was that they joined.'I can't believe the genius Hito joined our club.' Hans's inner voice was so happy and, for some reason, proud. 'But only five people joined this year.' He went sad again. However, his outer shell was normal, and he spoke to the students in a dignified manner.

"Before I continue, I would like all of you to tell your names, so you guys can get close." He turned to Sylvie, who was sitting on his right side at the end. "We'll start from you."

Sylvie flustered and stood up, "M-My name is Sylvie," she muttered to herself."Sorry, could you be louder?"Sylvie took a deep breath and got serious as if she were in an intense battle, "My name is Sylvie."She sat down as soon as she finished speaking."Hi, Sylvie."He then turned to Astra, who was sitting next to her, "You can continue."Astra stood up, "My name is Astra."He sat back down and turned towards Sylvie. She was covering her face using her book, sitting nervously.

"My name is Rowan," a muscular man with brown skin spoke in a deep voice."My name is Celtics," a short mage with yellow hair jumped up and spoke. Then finally everyone's gaze turned towards the young man with blue eyes.He stood up, hating the attention. "I am Hito."He sat back down, but still everyone's gaze was on him — except for Astra's. Hito ignored all of them and just looked at Hans.

Hans looked at Hito for two seconds, then turned his head back to the crowd and continued speaking."We have a club trip in a week, where all five of you and five of your seniors, including me, will attend the trip.""We all will go to a weapons museum which is near our school."

Celtics raised his hand, and Hans turned towards him."Please ask."Celtics lowered his hand, "How is hunting related to going to a museum?"Hans spoke while laughing lightly, "They aren't related. I got an invitation to go to the museum, so I thought it would be a good first trip."

All of their moods went down."Ey, don't worry. It will be fun," he said, trying to change their mood. They didn't change. 'Welp, that didn't work.' Hans's inner mind was biting a cloth as hard as he could.

He spoke calmly, "All of you just attend it."All of them unanimously said "okay" in a wavered voice."I'll take my leave now. All of you get to know each other before next week."Just as he reached the door, he remembered something."Oh yeah, you can't bring any weapons during the trip."He left as soon as he spoke, leaving everyone alone.

An awkward silence filled the room.Celtics walked up in front of the rest and spoke, "Well, I am from Class A. From which class are you guys?"No one spoke. He laughed awkwardly. 'Someone please answer.' He was dying inside. 'I hate awkward silence.'

Sylvie spoke first, "I am from Class B." She spoke in a gentle tone.Celtics looked towards her. 'Thank you, you beautiful elf,' he thought, with a bit of tears on the inside."I am also from Class B," Astra continued. Then the three turned their heads to the muscular man.He gritted his teeth, "I am from Class S.""I am also from Class S," Hito instantly spoke.Another awkward silence filled the room.

...

The meeting got over. They all barely spoke. Hito left first, and then the rest followed him.

At night.Astra was swinging his wooden sword continuously at the training ground."Haah, haah, haah."He made a weird sound after each strike.'I've done six hundred and seventy-eight strikes already, three hundred left.'

"Hey."A voice came from behind him.
