...
"Zastin, I have to go. Take care of this guy" – I said.
"Don't worry, Akira-sama. I will 'take care' of him as him deserves" – Zastin nodded.
Then, he crouched down and picked Kurt up by the neck.
After seeing that, I didn't hesitate and transformed back into Jetray and flew in the direction of the school. I arrived in just a few seconds and could see how Yami, Haruna, and Yui were talking, but when they looked at me, they stopped talking and just walked over.
"Are you okay?" – Yami asked.
"Yes, that guy was a weakling. With a single blow he fell unconscious" – I said.
"And where is he?" – Yami asked.
"I handed it to Zastin. That's why it took me a few minutes" – I replied.
"Zastin, the captain of the royal guard?" – Yami asked again.
"Yes, his spaceship is located in the forest near here, where, coincidentally, Kurt fled, so I just handed it to him after telling him everything that happened" - I said.
"Did you tell him about me too?" – Yami asked.
If you didn't know her, you definitely wouldn't notice it, but I've seen her numerous times (I'm talking about manga and anime) and I know perfectly well that she's a little nervous.
"Yes, but don't worry, I already told him everything that happened and he promised not to chase you or... you know" – I said.
"I see..." – Yami said.
If Zastin, the captain of the royal guard, was already aware of her and had promised not to pursue her, that could only mean one thing: the king would soon learn of her existence and her relationship with Akira. She knew well what awaited an assassin who abandoned their profession. There were only two paths for someone like her — life imprisonment or the death penalty.
However, there was one way to be absolved of all her crimes: forming a deep bond with the royal family. In other words, becoming a concubine — either of the king or, in this case, the heir of the king. Yami was fully aware of this. And she was certain Akira knew it too.
But then… why hadn't he said anything? Why hadn't he asked her to be his concubine yet? Was he taking his time? Or perhaps… did he not find her attractive?
Yami didn't know what to think. Ever since that night, emotions she had never experienced before had begun to stir inside her — feelings she didn't know how to control. Was she in love with Akira? She couldn't say for sure. But whenever she thought of him, a small, involuntary smile would appear on her face. Was this what love felt like?
Even she couldn't answer that.
{Note: women's feelings are very complicated}
That's why Yami was quietly waiting. Waiting for Akira to take the first step, to clarify what was growing between them. Because for now, she still didn't fully understand these new emotions inside her.
"Sato-kun..." – Yui said suddenly.
"Akira-kun..." – Haruna said.
When I looked at them, I realized that both deserved an explanation about everything that had happened. Why they had been kidnapped, who am I, etc. There was a lot to tell and little time.
"Actually, I... I don't know how to say this, but..." – I tried to say.
How do you explain to two normal humans that I am the heir of the king of the galaxy, that Lala is the princess and daughter of the current king and that Yami is a former assassin and that they are both aliens? I think there is no simple way to explain all this.
"Akira-kun, we want to thank you for rescuing us" – Haruna said.
"And I'm sorry for ignoring you these days" – Yui said.
They both bowed slightly.
"This... it's okay, but... Don't you want to know what happened?" – I asked somewhat surprised.
I thought they would be scared, maybe they wouldn't want to listen to me, or even that, after all that had happened, they would start to be afraid of me.
"We already know, Yami-san has told us everything while you were chasing that assassin" - Haruna said.
I looked at Yami.
"I gave them a quick summary, but they already understand more or less the situation" - Yami said.
"And aren't you surprised by everything? I mean, I would be" – I asked curiously.
"I... I am surprised and surely I do not seem surprised because I have not yet managed to assimilate all the information that Yami-san tell us" – Haruna said.
"I feel the same..." – Yui said.
They seemed confused, which is logical after having suffered what they suffered today.
"Do you have any questions?" – I asked.
The silence was quite uncomfortable and Yami didn't help, so I had to be the one to end that silence.
"If you don't care, I would like to go home and think about everything that happened" - Haruna said.
"Me too" – Yui nodded.
"Of course, let's all go" – I nodded.
After leaving school, they both greeted me and went their separate ways, probably because their homes weren't even nearby.
"Today was a pretty hard day for them, but tomorrow they will be better" - Yami said.
Yami, seeing Akira's blank stare, guessed that maybe he believed that the girls wanted to get away from him as quickly as possible, so she thought he was sad and tried to cheer him up in her own way.
"Haaa... I know" – I nodded.
I just hope they don't hate me or be afraid of me after what happened today.
"By the way, the invitation to come and live with me is still valid. Do you want to live with me?" – I asked again.
Maybe it wasn't the best time for it, but... I still did it on impulse.
"I..." – Yami tried to say.
She hesitated. On one hand, she wanted to live with him; on the other, the idea of sharing a roof with the man she believed she was in love with made her feel… uncomfortable, to say the least.
"Hehe, don't worry, take your time to think about it, I won't force you" – I said.
I knew that, at this point, Yami already had feelings for me, otherwise, she wouldn't have hesitated to immediately reject my proposal, but she is surely embarrassed to do so. As I am a gentleman, I will not force her and wait for her to come to me naturally, believe me there is not much time left for it.
"Thank you..." – Yami said.
She was still confused because those feelings were something she hadn't felt before and she didn't know how to express them correctly.
"Yami... if you need advice you can always count on me, Lala or the others" – I said with a smile.
Yami nodded and after saying goodbye to me, he flew home.
"Maybe I should go to the infirmary. This morning I heard that the nurse helps you recover if you feel ill, so she can probably help me" - Yami said.
What she didn't know was that this was not a disease that the nurse could help heal, but something that she had to solve on her own. However, she was (for some reason) embarrassed to tell the girls and much less Akira. Just thinking about it, her face turned red like a tomato.
"I'll do it tomorrow" – Yami nodded.
Meanwhile, Akira headed towards his house where Lala was waiting for him with dinner on the table. Upon arriving, Lala anxiously asked him what had happened to which Akira replied with pleasure.
"Uff... thank goodness they are fine" – Lala sighed.
"Yes, they're just overwhelmed by everything that happened tonight and everything Yami told them, but with a night's rest they'll be fine tomorrow, I guess" - I said.
"Akira-sama, for normal humans, all that information is quite difficult to digest, so don't get depressed if for a few days you see those women a little clueless and distant" - Peke commented.
"I know" – I nodded.
"Although the kidnapping was horrible, you have also come something good out of this" – Lala commented.
"What do you mean?" – I asked curiously.
"Lala-sama means that surely, by rescuing them, Haruna-sama and Yui-sama's feelings for you may be deeper and they may even have fallen in love" - Peke explained.
Yes... The hero saving beauty, an unsurprising cliché but effective in this type of case. In my previous world, this trick wouldn't work in the slightest, but it may have worked in this world, especially on girls as pure and innocent as Yui and Haruna.
"Well... It is possible that my action may have influenced their feelings, but we must remember that it was my fault that they were kidnapped in the first place" - I said.
After all, if they hadn't been close to me, none of this would have happened and they wouldn't have been kidnapped.
"Akira, this wasn't your fault, it's the fault of those filthy nobles who are sending assassins... What fault can you have?" – Lala said frowning.
"That's right. How can this situation be yourfault? To begin with, what these nobles are doing is a betrayal to the king" - Peke nodded.
Exactly, this wasn't Akira's fault, but the fault of those who couldn't stand the fact that Akira had become the new heir. Even if they disagreed, that was no excuse to try to kill him. But although they knew that themselves, most of those nobles were simply power-hungry, while others desired Lala's body at any cost. In fact, their desires were so strong that they ignored the punishment the king would impose if they were caught.
"I still don't know if the girls will see it that way" - I sighed.
I know it's not my fault, but rather the fault of those who keep sending assassins after me. First, it was Yami — who, honestly, I didn't worry too much about, since I knew she could be redeemed — but from now on, the assassins who come after me will only become more dangerous and possess more troublesome abilities. Still, one thing is clear to me: all those assassins and nobles will regret trying to kill me. All except one — Mea. She is the only one I will try to change, just like I did with Yami. And I will only do it because she's a heroine and I want her in my harem. Otherwise, I would hand her over to Zastin without hesitation.
For now, I don't want to kill anyone, but in the future, I might have to. After all, I can't allow assassins to come after me endlessly. What kind of life would that be? Altought now I have Jetray and I can travel between planets, I don't know the nobles who want kill me, their names or where they are, but If one day I can answers all my doubts... I'll kill them without hesitation. Why don't ask Lala about it? For the moment, I don't want involve in those things and, as I said before, I don't want to kill yet; I'm not prepared for that; for now.
"Akira… they just need time to digest everything Yami-chan told them" - said Lala.
"That's right" - Peke nodded.
"I hope you're right" - I replied.
Otherwise, I'll have to start again from scratch, and all the effort I've put into getting closer to them would have been in vain...
