Once threading was mastered, the filaments had to be compressed, hardened, and sharpened using internal chakra resonance—a technique similar to how sand could be hardened into glass under the right vibration and heat.

This section was too damaged to be useful. The resonance frequency formulas were blackened out. Neji tried to infer them using the True Eyes, but the document's chakra signature had long since faded. Whatever secrets it once held were now ashes.

A New Experiment - The Compression Pierce

Determined to push his chakra control further, Neji moved to a sturdy tree nearby. Its trunk was nearly a meter thick, aged and fibrous.

He inhaled.

He extended his right hand, pointer finger raised, then narrowed his focus.

He began to compress the air and chakra at the very tip of his forefinger—a hybrid of wind manipulation and chakra containment. It was delicate work. The bubble that formed was small—perhaps the size of a raindrop—but it shimmered with compressed sky-blue light.

With a single motion, he thrust his finger forward.

A pop, a crackle of released tension—and the tree trembled.

He withdrew his hand.

A cylindrical hole had formed in the bark, roughly two inches in diameter and five inches deep, its edges cauterized with chakra burns.

His finger, however, throbbed violently. A fracture near the joint. He hadn't accounted for the recoil pressure generated when the compression bubble collapsed and released its kinetic energy.

He gritted his teeth and made a note:

Lesson: Future iterations must involve a chakra wrap reinforcement layer to buffer recoil stress on digits.

He called the technique:"Chakra Pierce: Compression Point."(Chakra Sōgeki: Asshuku-ten)

Toward Thousand Needle Rain: Chakra Thread Refinement

Threading, now foundational to the Thousand Needle Rain, became his obsession.

He began experimenting with the viscosity and rigidity of his chakra threads, adjusting:

Phase density: how tightly chakra particles were bound

Oscillation frequency: how rapidly they vibrated

Conductive smoothness: how efficiently they transmitted chakra signals

By adjusting these values using feedback from his True Eyes, he could now manipulate a thread to curve midair, rotate around obstacles, or lash like a whip.

He even began fusing the threads with minute wind chakra, giving them slicing potential. The goal was to create needles that could cut through flesh without ever being seen.

But each improvement came with limitations, The Limitations of Traditional Techniques

As he studied more of what chakra could truly do, Neji came to a harsh conclusion:

"We've wasted our potential. The traditional Hyuga methods are barely scratching the surface."

Most chakra techniques focused on raw discharge or basic shape manipulation. They didn't consider substructural control: the molecular interaction of chakra with physical matter, the wave harmonics of chakra-laced attacks, or the full range of elemental overlays.

Using his True Eyes, Neji realized that chakra wasn't merely energy—it was programmable. A language of its own.

The Next Frontier: Giving Chakra Form

Inspired, he moved to another experiment.

Recognizing the need for advanced chakra control, Neji turned his attention to shaping chakra into tangible forms. He began by concentrating chakra around his hand, attempting to mold it into a gauntlet. The initial formations were unstable, dissipating quickly due to uneven chakra distribution and insufficient structural integrity.

Analyzing the failures, Neji hypothesized that the instability stemmed from the lack of a cohesive chakra lattice—a framework to maintain the shape. He experimented with varying chakra densities and flow patterns, gradually achieving a semi-stable gauntlet that enveloped his hand. Extending this to his fingers, he crafted rudimentary claws, though they flickered and wavered with movement.

But as soon as he clenched his fist or moved his fingers rapidly, the construct shattered.

However, Chakra, unlike solid matter, has poor shear strength. Without internal lattice-binding or reinforcement through elemental layering (like Earth or Wind), the shape collapses under directional strain.

He theorized that by:

Embedding micro-thread coils inside the gauntlet structure, or

Cross-layering elemental chakra in wave-patterns,

he could create chakra armor with actual resilience.

Looking Ahead

With bloodied fingertips and a mind overflowing with revelation, Neji sat under the vast sky once more.

He had a working prototype of the Chakra Pierce, a rudimentary understanding of chakra threading, and a philosophical revelation about the programmability of chakra itself.

His vision of the Thousand Needle Rain was still incomplete, but he could now produce a thread that danced like silk and stabbed like wires.

As dusk settled over the forest, Neji sat amidst the remnants of his training, the charred scroll beside him. His body bore the marks of exertion, but his spirit remained unbroken. The path ahead was fraught with challenges, yet he embraced them with unwavering determination.

By mastering these advanced techniques, he aspired to transcend the limitations imposed by tradition and hierarchy. In doing so, he would honor his own potential, forging a legacy.
