Chapter 117 - Chapter 117: Repel the Incineroar!

In the real world, Axel was very clear that some tactics from the Pokémon games couldn't be copied over directly.

A powerful Pokémon could topple the battlefield with a single punch, and some Gym Leader-level trainers could even affect an area of several streets with their Pokémon in an instant.

In the Special chapter, the second-generation Pokédex holder Crystal once used a level 40 Parasect to hypnotize an entire three-street radius.

When the level gap was too great, many tactics simply couldn't be used.

Fortunately, besides understanding tactics, he also had quite a bit of insight into trainers.

During the last assessment, Axel had guessed that Gym Leader Shasha was someone who cared about saving face and wouldn't use high-power moves to beat up a baby Pokémon.

Now, it seemed his guess was right.

As long as Incineroar used a low-power move and didn't kick Aron flying in one blow, this match could be played.

Under the command of its trainer, Incineroar spat out a tiny Spark from its mouth.

If you just looked at the flame's size, it was almost the same as a lighter's flame.

The only exception was that Incineroar's flame temperature was countless times higher than that of a lighter.

"Aron!"

Even though its body was made of rock and steel, Aron still felt some pain and couldn't help but let out a miserable cry.

Fortunately, thanks to the Sturdy ability triggering, Aron wasn't knocked out in one hit.

Eva immediately gave the command, "Use Endeavor!"

"ROAR!"

The little guy's face twisted in pain, and it immediately pounced on Incineroar, attacking frantically.

A Normal-type move: Endeavor.

In the game, this move was very powerful. It could forcibly reduce the opponent's HP to match the user's current HP.

In the Pokémon world, this effect had been weakened a lot and was influenced by the physical condition differences of both sides.

But for Aron, this move was still terrifying enough.

Incineroar's condition plummeted in an instant, while Aron visibly returned to normal.

Shell Bell's drain recovery.

Although the drain ability wasn't strong, Aron didn't have much HP to begin with and had already recovered to full.

On the side, Shasha and the referee were nearly speechless, both staring at Aron in disbelief.

At first, they thought Aron was there just for laughs, but now... had they been duped again?

Shasha no longer dared to underestimate this Aron and immediately let Incineroar go full firepower.

"Use Darkest Lariat!"

"ROAR!"

Incineroar let out a loud roar, and the flame at its waist blazed wildly.

A surge of inky-black Dark-type energy emerged, making its already thick right arm swell even larger.

Incineroar's exclusive move, a strike that ignored the opponent's stat changes.

But even this powerful punch did nothing when it hit Aron.

With its HP full, Sturdy triggered again, forcing it to hang on with 1 HP.

Aron let out a babyish roar and used Endeavor again.

Incineroar's HP dropped below half.

Shasha's originally fair face turned flushed.

'Damn, this strategy is so dirty!'

If this were a wild fight or she were the challenger, she could just have Incineroar lie on the ground and crush Aron into unconsciousness.

But...

If she did that in a Gym battle, she might as well quit the profession.

"Incineroar, use Parting Shot!"

"ROAR!"

Incineroar let out a cheerful roar, dropped its battle stance, and started trash-talking Aron with its hands on its hips.

Even though it didn't have high enough mental power to understand what Incineroar was saying, Axel could still feel that this guy was swearing up a storm.

It even used the old auntie's classic "Retreat! Retreat! Retreat!" move from old-school fights.

A flash of white light passed, and the smug Incineroar gave Axel a glance before returning to its Poké Ball.

Shasha took a deep breath and prepared to send out Charizard to end this ridiculous battle.

As long as it flew into the air, Aron's Endeavor would be useless!

Just then, a Rotom phone suddenly floated up beside Axel.

"Now we're seeing a change on the battlefield, Gym Leader Shasha and high school graduate Eva's first clash has concluded."

"Eva's baby Aron did quite well, successfully forcing Incineroar's tactical retreat."

"Now Gym Leader Shasha looks a bit off, will she go so far as to use Charizard to fight a not-even-level-10 Aron?"

Shasha: "???"

'Seriously? Are we still battling or what? Why are you mocking people now?'

Thinking about how she used to watch other people's videos just like this, Shasha's previously flushed cheeks turned pale again with frustration.

"Don't worry, challenger. This is just a guidance match. I won't use my full-strength Pokémon."

"Litten, it's your turn!"

Shasha sent out her lowest-level Litten and silently cheered herself on.

'Come on, I can win this!'

'That guy's strategy only looks scary because of Sturdy, Endeavor, and some wild imagination.'

'As long as my Pokémon can't be one-shotted by him, his strategy will collapse on its own.'

Seeing her opponent also sent out a tiny Pokémon, the little loli clapped her hands in excitement.

"Axel, you're amazing! You even guessed this!"

"Aron, use Mud-Slap!"
