"Damn it!" I slammed my arms over the steering wheel after I realized the lady that had just stepped into that cab wasn't Bianca.
My breath snagged in my throat, jaw locking as if to keep the scream inside. Grief tightened around my chest while I throttled the car into the distance, desperate to escape something I couldn't outrun.
I was just halfway when it stirred in my heart like a mighty pang, casting that grief steadily afresh in me as I turned over, driving in the opposite direction.
My eyes cast a glow over the looming darkness and flipped glances over the streets when I finally pulled over and stepped down.
I strode into the hospital, my legs clicking over the tiled floor in sheer grief, not sparing a glance at the nurses and the different people waiting at the lobby at such a late time in the night.
I veered toward his office, kicked the door open, and stormed inside without a second thought.
