Chapter 5 - omega black

Omega Black

Luna woke up feeling energetic and strong. She glanced at her skin and saw that it was as smooth as when she left the mansion for the company. Before she could guess what happened, Teresa spoke. "I used the healing potion, and it worked really well." She heard Luna from the doorway and immediately looked up only to see a beautiful girl with long, golden blonde hair that cascaded down her back in soft waves, bright blue eyes, and lips tinted a delicate pink.

"Teresa," Luna speculated inwardly, recognizing Teresa through her looks as she had read a lot from the book.

"Teresa," Luna called softly in a hoarse voice due to sleeping for too long.

Teresa stepped further in with a serious expression. "How are you feeling, boss? I hope you're okay. It's my fault. I'll make sure you're under good surveillance from now on," she assured her with determination in her tone to do her work properly.

"It's okay, Teresa. I can handle myself. It's not your fault at all," Luna said warmly.

"Those stupid vampires are really testing my patience. Yesterday they killed five of our employees. If this keeps happening, the company is going to collapse. And we know fully well we cannot invite or employ just anyone into this company," Teresa explained.

"Yes, of course. We will look into it. That's why we are a team." As Luna replied, Teresa couldn't believe it. The warmth in her tone was undeniable.

'Has Luna changed?' she speculated inwardly.

"Five employees?" Luna repeated. "How does this happen? Those vampires are really something." She slowly crawled down the bed and sat on the ground.

"I'll go freshen up," she said, standing back up and sitting on the bed.

"I'll get everything ready for your shower. I'll get Emma to help you," Teresa said, ready to go find Emma.

"No need. I can handle that myself," she said, and Teresa reluctantly nodded.

"Where is Emma? I haven't seen her," Luna asked, glancing over at Teresa as she made her way to the small bathroom attached to the room.

"I sent her to check on things at the company. But she is still around, so she can help you with your bath before leaving," Teresa answered, making her way to the door.

"I said I can handle it myself," she said firmly. Teresa gave a little nod and exited the door.

The day passed by quickly. It felt like time slipped away like water through her fingers. Luna spent most of the afternoon in the sitting room, poring over papers—official documents, reports, and work left behind by the original female lead.

As she flipped through each page, her head hurt terribly. Just staring at all this gave her a painful headache, as she had not done or seen this kind of document her entire life. She was tired and decided to step out for work, only to see that the perimeter was surrounded with men in blue garments that were neat and shiny.

'Omega Black?' she speculated. 'It has to be them!' she finally decided in her mind.

She walked further to one of the men and asked, "What are you guys doing?"

"We're going to our job, boss," he replied with a small bow. Raising up his head, Luna observed that he had enchanting blue eyes that could leave a girl spellbound.

'Wow,' she gasped inwardly, clearing her throat.

"And what job is that?" she asked, staring back at him with a blank expression, frustration building up within her.

She hadn't expected to be followed everywhere, but it seemed that was the reality now.

"To look after the whole perimeter and keep an eye on where you're going."

"Shut up!" she snapped immediately. Frustration replaced the uneasiness she was feeling. "I am the boss here!" she reminded him.

"I'm aware," he said, keeping his head down.

She shot him a glare that was enough to send him daggers. And even some of the members of the Alpha Mega team standing close by could feel the rage radiating from Luna.

"I'll go inside." With that, she turned and walked like a real mafia boss. Every step she took motivated her.

"It must be nice to live like this," she smirked. "Everything sure has an advantage and disadvantage."

"Everything here seems boring," Ezekiel complained.

"Let's try doing something fun then. Let's go out and buy some food, you know, have some fun," Simon suggested.

"Still boring," Ezekiel muttered in disapproval.

He leaned back, his gaze distant. "I think life is just... boring."

A vampire appeared, offering them both glasses of blood. Ezekiel refused with a dismissive gesture. The vampire bowed and left without a word.

"I thought you said you're testy?" Simon asked, confused. He was the only one who could comfortably speak to Ezekiel—both of them were the same age, cousins, and pureblooded vampires. But Zeke, of course, was the crown prince.

"I want fresh blood, directly from a human's body," Ezekiel replied coldly.

Simon shrugged. "Do what you want. There are plenty of humans around."

With that, he stood up and left, leaving Ezekiel alone under the apple tree. His throat burned with dryness, the craving for fresh blood. He just wanted to feel the fresh liquid of blood landing on his dry throat, and anything he craves, he makes sure he gets.

Emma came back to the mansion and asked about Luna. The maids informed her that Luna was still sleeping, so she informed them to make dinner for her as it was already dinner. After a while, she decided she'd make it herself. She decided to make the rich adobo. She made it together with the maids as the rich aroma filled the air, waking Luna from sleep. After she was done, she carefully arranged the food herself on the beautiful dining table. The dining room was big and spacious, its polished marble floor reflecting the light from the chandelier above.

Luna inhaled the sweet scent of the food into her lungs as she descended the stairs and was immediately welcomed by the sight of freshly prepared adobo.

"Wow," she gasped, eyes wide.

"Boss, please come eat. You barely eat these days," Emma said, stepping forward with a hopeful expression.

"You're so kind. Thank you," Luna said, more than grateful, which made Emma blink in surprise. The original protagonist never said thanks. So why all of a sudden?

After Luna was done eating, Emma ran straight to her.

"Boss, we got a problem," Emma said, gasping air out from her throat. "I just got a call from Teresa."

"Now what?" she asked, "Omega Black team?" 'Another mafia empire.'

"Yes, boss. Lena needs you right now."

"Ok, let's go," Luna said without even thinking. Her voice sounded determined to help.

"If you don't want to go, I'll call…" she didn't get to finish her statement.

"I need to go there so nothing goes wrong," Luna said boldly. But in truth, she was scared.

'Lord, can't they just let this lovely food digest with the cool water touching my throat?' Luna sighed inwardly. 'How the hell am I supposed to handle this situation? A mere human. Am I supposed to go fight vampires like Superwoman??' Her head throbbed at the thought.

"Boss, you need to get dressed, please," Emma urged, her voice more urgent now, eyes pleading.

"Yes, of course. Let's go," Luna replied boldly, masking the chaos twisting inside her. Her voice was firm, but her thoughts were spiraling.

'Luna, seems like you're dying for real this time,' she thought bitterly, trying to summon strength from whatever corner of herself hadn't already crumbled.

They both headed to the bedroom. Luna moved quickly, peeling off her damp swimsuit and throwing on blue shorts that clung to her thighs, stopping just above the midline. She matched it with a fitted blue shirt, the same shiny material hugging her curves. The fabric shimmered under the light like water on polished steel. She tugged on a pair of sleek, thigh-high boots—deep ocean blue and gleaming like glass.

Her long black hair flowed down her back, cascading over her slender shoulders like dark silk. She didn't bother with makeup. She was never a fan of that, nor was she given the opportunity to do that in her past life.

Even bare-faced, she looked like a seductive goddess pulled straight from a myth, dangerous and divine.

Without another word, they climbed into the black SUV. The ride was long—an hour that stretched like three. They didn't speak much during the drive, tension pressing against the windows like fog. They drove into the forest that was already dark, and the tall trees with their large thick leaves made the place even darker. Her car finally stopped in front of a double black gate, and in the middle of the gate was marked with brown thick ink: "Omega Black Empire."

Luna came down, and she could already hear screams echoing inside the massive mansion behind the gates.

"I better get going," Luna said.

"Yes, boss. Please be careful. I'll look after the mansion," Emma said.

The SUV pulled away, leaving Luna standing alone.

"Damn it! What can I possibly do?" she mumbled to herself. They were vampires inside the Omega Black Empire's territory, and as the mafia boss, she is expected to fight any enemy who comes or touches what belongs to her.

Groen! Groen!!

She heard behind her, and fear immediately crept into her heart. She was in the forest with nothing but trees, and the only thing she could see was the Omega Black mansion. She had to go in. She couldn't just run into the forest like that.

Groen!

She heard again and spun around with her heart pounding in her chest.

"Look what we have here? Miss Mafia!" one of them said with excitement in his blood-stained eyes and dirty black nails. They were there, and all their faces were stained with red liquid. Their elongated canines were dripping with blood, making Luna take three steps back.

"Stay back," she warned. The vampires kept moving forward while Luna moved back. She searched her body for anything, and she found their weapons—little sharp knives fixed around her waist. According to the book, you need to aim at the vampire's chest with a stake or the little knife. She pulled one out and positioned her hand to aim at the heart. Her hands were trembling.

"Move one more step, and you're dead," she deadpanned.

The one in front made a move, growling even more, and with one clear motion, she aimed right at his chest. The creature gritted the knife and staggered back. More blood came out of his mouth. The other two just watched him, and Luna took her chance and aimed at one's chest. Before the last one could move any closer, she used adrenaline and aimed with force at his head. She pulled another knife and struck at his chest.

The three of them dropped to the ground, and Luna watched as they faded to dust. She let out a sigh of relief and made her way through the gates.
