When Laura stepped into the void the first thing she noted was the fact Zenesha's city looked to be in walking distance from where she stood meaning.
"It's fucking miles off!" She complained.
With a sigh she turned her back to it and started walking in the other direction. The Void was a weird place that existed between time and reality. Nothing there made sense. It didn't take long for Zenesha's city to disappear behind her. It took exactly ten steps.
She found herself walking alongside a steep cliff that overlooked a sheer drop into nothingness. She walked a few paces before making a sharp right over the cliff and fell three feet and continued walking in the middle of Newyork city on one of the Earths with just Humans.
Since she wasn't in the real Newyork and just a construct made from the proximity to the real place, the people walking the streets were these flickering apparitions with no details. This meant that if she were to make a rift here, she would appear in Newyork 2016.
She didn't care and walked through the ghostly figures on a random street of Newyork. She needed to get to Zenesha's Earth during her time period. After walking for twenty minutes the scenery suddenly disappeared and she was now standing in an empty white void.
"Perfect, now I can make a beeline for her world." Laura said as she turned around in the direction she just came from and teleported. She now stood in the town she first met Zenesha in. A small smile appeared on her face at the memory.
She now just had to stay within the world path. She turned left and walked through one of the building's walls and found herself in one of the red zones near Gold Base. She glanced east where the capital should be before facing north.
Before she could teleport a massive pillar of condensed stone crashed into her from above. Using her own power Laura created a barrier around her body shielding herself. She was no longer shackled by the mortal realm and was free to unleash her powers however she wanted.
However up until now her single-minded focus on trying to get back to Zenesha allowed her to ignore it. The constant pressure in the back of her mind. The call of the Void itself.
She again used her power to break the pillar that just buried her underground.
Once free from she looked around looking for the culprit.
"Figures that wouldn't kill you." A female voice said, sounding annoyed.
"Who the fuck are you?"
"My na-"
"I just remembered I don't care. Die."
Full of anger Laura raised her hand and then formed a fist. Large black and orange tentacles rose from the ground and wrapped up the attacker. They had grey skin, large horns, leathery wings, and a long thin tail. She looked like an actual Demon.
"Playing the part, are you?" She growled bringing the Demoness closer to her as she summoned a Void sword into her hands.
"Oh, fuck you." The Demones spat struggling against her restraints.
"You're nothing but a filthy Voidling and you thought you could beat me?" Laura growled.
"Let's get you out of this flesh suit."
Using her blade, she stabbed it into the Demoness, causing them to scream. She dragged the blade down, reached past the black blood and flesh and pulled out what was inside. A dark grey blob, leaking black blood emerged.
It unregulated and squirmed before forming into a vaguely humanoid shape. The shape was similar to the demon form it had but more of just a singular grey color and looked as if the form was constantly melting.
Parts of it kept dripping off or running down its body. Its faceless head turned in Laura's direction and two pure black markings appeared where the eye's might be located. The head split apart, appearing as if it were ripping itself apart, the two sides only being held by the grey gooey flesh its body was made off, as the pitch-black insides were revealed.
"You monster!" It screeched, its voice sounding alien.
Laura didn't answer as she now used her power to turn her tentacles into giant hands, grabbed the former Demoness, and started squishing them into a ball. Laura's own limbs turned black and orange like before, and she reached for the now balled up Voidling.
They were slightly Larger than her fist now.
"Wait, wait, please stop don't!" It cried, but Laura just ignored it.
Her head was now black with orange accents; she then tilted it backwards and opened her mouth. It stretched far more than what it could before, and she then dropped the Voidling into it. Its cries went silent when she closed her mouth and swallowed.
"Now that the distraction is gone, time to continue my journey."
=======
Stepping out of a tear in reality Laura emerged on the outskirts of the capital. She could still feel the tug of the void, but she could deal with that later. She checked her phone to see the time, and discovered it's already been just under two minutes since she received the text from Zenesha.
Later than she would've liked, but considering she was gone for about an hour, she'd just have to accept this as a win. She quickly teleported into Zenesha's office, and when she didn't find her there, she reached out her senses for her.
"The boardroom!"
Laura wasted no time and teleported. She was greeted with the scene of her thankfully uninjured girlfriend holding an injured Forsaken at gunpoint.
"They speak too much." He spat at Zenesha. She clearly joined them in the middle of a conversation. "But that's where you're wrong. This is a stand still. The Ather is affecting me, but I'm not going to fade any time soon."
"Yeah, well I can fix that." Laura said behind the man.
"Yo-" The man started as he turned around to face her.
He was cut off when Laura grabbed his throat and slammed him into the ground.
"What do you think you're doing?" She growled.
The man grinned at her, looking not at all frightened. Before Laura could do more, a rift opened up beneath them, dragging them both back into the void.
"LAURA!" Zenesha yelled, panic clear in her voice.
The two of them found themselves falling with the ground far below them. While distracted at the sudden change in location, and looking back at the closed rift, the man used his power to blast Laura away from him. She went hurtling into the sky before she righted herself just in time to see a spear of molten Lava sent her way.
If this was back in the mortal world she wouldn't have to worry, but they were in the void. Everything here can make contact and harm her. Still safer than Ather since she can heal from these injuries much easier, but it still wasn't ideal.
Suddenly she stopped falling and was standing on a plain of obsidian. She glared and watched her surroundings, looking for where the Forsaken would appear. Her ear twitched and she reached out to her left and grabbed the man by the neck, making him visible once again.
She then manipulated the obsidian into countless spears and stabbed them into his body. Instead of cries of pain like she expected, instead the body started to melt into a gooey mess. Realizing her mistake Laura tried to move out the way but still ended up being grazed on her side.
"Hey, don't damage this body!" She yelled annoyed.
Electricity crackles across her body, and before the void human realized it Lara was on top of him. Her eyes a black inky bit with orange irises. Her arms were also black with orange highlights and right now her right arm was reaching for his chest.
The man tried twisting out of the way, but found his legs trapped by black tentacles. Instead of panicking he just bent his body backwards, and under his own legs. Now below Laura he reached out to grab her legs.
The wolf just jumped over his body instead, creating unintentional distance between them. The man's body was now standing upright when she turned around, but his torso was backwards facing her as his legs face the other direction.
He cut away at the tentacles holding down his legs and without turning away from Laura, twisted his lower body till it was normal again. Laura grimaced.
"My turn." The man said and snapped his fingers.
A shockwave blessed outwards and slammed into the wolf before she could react, sending her flying into empty black space with nothing around. The Forsaken man of course followed her. She reached out, stretching her arms, and twisted her body while they were both midair and flung him in a random direction.
He slammed into a city building, going through it. Laura touched down onto the city street and was greeted with one of the buildings exploding as the Forsaken blasted through again charging at her. Laura without hesitation also rushed towards him.
The two of them collided, creating a shockwave so large the city around them was blasted away, leaving behind a crater of their own making. Laura managed to stand her ground, but her opponent was sent flying back once again, skipping across the ground.
They managed to get their feet under themselves and slide to a stop. When they looked back up, they found Laura already on top of them. This time however they were prepared, and two portals opened up from either side of Laura.
Two objects came flying out of them, and while Laura managed to dodge one of them, the other hit her right in the side causing her to flinch. It was only for a second, but it was enough for the Forsaken to grab her wrist and slam her into the dirt ground.
Laura cried out in pain and used the electricity crackling around her body to shock the arm holding her. The forsaken cried out in pain and let go giving Laura enough time to stand up and create some distance. The two of them paused and just glared at each other breathing heavily.
"Bastard." Laura spat, pulling the void blade from her side.
"Rogue." The Forsaken spat back.
Laura used the void blade to cut her wrist, letting them bleed onto the ground. Since her arms were currently black it looked as if she was melting. The Forsaken eyes became wide and raced to stop her actions. However, he was too late.
The world around them became black with orange flecks. Laura smirked at him as he continued to charge in her direction. However, it was like the world itself attacked him from every conceivable direction.
He managed to dodge the countless spears, tentacles, and bladed projectiles at first. After only two seconds something caught his leg, then wrist, then waist. Then he was impaled countless times. And every time he was impaled, countless black objects exploded out of his body.
"Auuuuhhhhgggggg!." A monstrous scream that shook the air itself escaped from the mouth of the Forsaken. "You shouldn't… be able to… do this so… fast."
Laura didn't answer and walked towards him. He tried squirming, but he was firmly suspended in the air by the countless black objects piercing his body. Even with his true form leaking out, the grey mess contrasting with the pitch black.
She reached for his chest and slipped her hand inside. When she retracted it, she was holding a grey core with a black haze around it. She smiled and looked into his eyes as she opened her mouth and ate it.
"Return to the nothingness you belong to you bastard."
