Chapter 30 - 2 Chapter 10: Big Bad Demon

After defeating the void human Laura made the trek back to Zenesha's world once again. It took much longer since she had to carefully avoid all the Voidlings and Forsaken that showed up. Eventually after an indeterminate amount of time since time as a concept is irrelevant, she found herself on the outskirts of the capital once more.

She quickly teleported into the boardroom where Zenesha and her four Condor's were. It looks like she wasn't gone for long since Zenesha was still on her knees looking at the spot she disappeared from.

"Ma'am it's been several minutes, I don't think there's anything we can do." Danail spoke.

"It'll probably take a while before she can… return." Rachel added.

"You're right about that. I'm not sure how long I've been gone, but it's definitely been hours." Laura answered, holding her injured right side.

All five of them turned around, before the Condor's could react or respond, Zenesha had already rushed to Laura's side and hugged her. This caused the wolf to hiss in pain, causing Zenesha to let go of her just as quickly. She gave Laura an attempt of an apologetic smile.

"You're hurt, is there anything I can do to help?"

"Yes, unlike the Ather poisoning I do have some medical supplies for regular injuries to my body." Laura answered with a strained grin.

The four Condor's grimaced at the black blood leaking from Laura's side. They had a lot to discuss after this. From what they both saw and heard today, Laura apparently gave their queen a means to defend herself from the void wolf's kind. Including herself.

They also can't deny that the void creature came in and saved them and got injured in the process. They were concerned about what happened to the man in the tracksuit that threatened them though. If they came back that would be a problem.

"What happened to the void creature?" Xavier asked. Both the wolf and fox looked over at them as if they just remembered they were there.

"He's dead. It took a while, but I managed to kill him."

"In less than five minutes? I'm guessing he wasn't that much of a threat then."

"Oh, that fight took longer than five minutes. Plus getting back here took hours."

"Wait the-"

"Excuse us Xavier, but Laura is injured, and I would like to take care of that right now."

"Oh, yes… of course."

Zenesha had already turned away from them and headed for the door. The tender care she showed as she helped Laura walk out the room was evident for everyone to see. The relationship between the two was extremely close.

*Grrr*

Laura growled as Zenesha tended to her wounds. It hurt a lot, and her instincts kept yelling at her to not let another person touch her injuries. Despite this, it warmed her heart seeing Zenesha care for her like this.

Especially since last time the woman was unable to even tend to her injuries.

"Stop being a baby, aren't you a big bad demon?" The fox teased.

"It still hurts." Laura wined

"There." Zenesha announced after wrapping the wound. "All done."

"Thanks honey, you're the best." Laura said, giving the wolf a beaming smile.

"Of course."

After that the two of them moved from the bathroom to the living room and sat down on the couch. Zenesha wanted Laura to rest in bed, but the wolf stubbornly refused. Instead, Zenesha turned on the television and put on Laura's favorite show.

"Will this affect you somehow?" The fox asked lightly, touching Laura's side with concern.

"This will heal. Don't worry."

"Last time you said that you cut off your arm." Zenesha shot back mildly annoyed.

Laura winced, but she was telling the truth. While she lost a lot of energy, it'll heal in time. She just had to avoid exerting herself. No, the real problem was the slight pressure in the back of her head.

"I swear I won't be chopping any bits of myself off any time soon." Laura said with her arms raised. "However, I'll need to head back to the Black Forest again."

"Is it necessary?" Zenesha questioned, clear worry in her voice.

"I managed to find the sword, but I rushed over here the moment you sent that text."

"Oh…." Zenesha felt a little guilty for this.

Ultimately, she managed to handle the Forsaken by herself. However, because she called Laura, she not only left behind the thing she was searching for, but she also got hurt. The ears on the top of her head flattened as she thought about this.

Seeing the fox's mood suddenly dip Laura panicked and wrapped the younger woman in a hug.

"What's wrong Princess?" Asked the wolf.

"Nothing, sorry I called you here when you were busy."

"You have nothing to apologize for." Lara stated, leaning back to look the fox in the eye. "Your safety will always be my top priority; I can always go back and finish a task another time."

"You got hurt because of it though."

Laura placed her hand on top of the fox's head and smiled. "This is the result of my own actions. You have nothing to feel bad about."

Zenesha smiled at this, while she still felt guilty, she did appreciate Laura's attempt at making her feel better. To keep the wolf from worrying about her while they themselves were injured, she bottled up her emotions. Laura was the priority right now.

"Fine you win." Zenesha said. "But you have to stay here and heal first before I let you back out again. Understood?"

"Yes Ma'am." Responded Laura with a salute, causing the fox to giggle.

Soon the two of them fell into a comfortable silence as they watched their show together. Laura looked up at the fox holding her in their arms and sighed in contentment. The wolf was glad her princess wasn't harmed, and she was now comfortably snuggling with the fox.

However, this made her realize she needed to finish her preparations sooner rather than later.
