Elias froze. His breath hitched, and his legs seemed rooted to the spot.
The sight of Kael Cabswell standing tall at the door, with a charming smile and beautiful eyes, stirred something within him.
"Kael," Elias choked, the name sour on his tongue like limes on an empty stomach. "What are you doing here?" he demanded.
But instead of answering, the villain stepped inside, quickly bypassing Kim before he could intervene. He looked more slender and pale, but those eyes were just as charming as ever, and his smile… breathtaking.
"I heard… I heard the servants talk about your condition," he said, stepping closer, but Elias found himself moving backward.
"You're unwell. I came to see for myself," he added, and lifted the basket of freshly picked fruits. "A peace offering."
Elias chuckled. "From the Alpha of Snowdale or the man who abandoned his mate, accused him of murder, chased him out of the pack, and married another?"
