ADRIAN'S POINT OF VIEW:
The house was too quiet. The kind of quiet that settles into your bones and makes your skin crawl. Xavier laid in the middle of the bed, bundled in layers of blankets. His skin was still too pale, his breathing shallow but steady now—thanks to Charlie's quick response. Jaxon and Michael hovered nearby, one of them always close enough to touch him, like they'd vanish if they didn't. And I... I hadn't left the room. Not even once. When the knock finally came, none of us moved. Until the door creaked open and the familiar scent of pine and herbal salves rolled in like a comforting breeze.
"Permission to panic?" Selene asked lightly as she stepped into the room, her eyes sweeping over the scene.
Charlie turned from the sink.
"It's bad. Burnout level fatigue, hormonal instability. He fainted."Charlie said.
She didn't respond right away. Just walked forward, put her basket down, and reached for Xavier's wrist.
