Xavier winced, his hands cradling his bump protectively. I looked up from the tea I made, then dropped the mug mid fill. The sound of porcelain clinking didn't even register, because I saw it his stomach shifted in a ripple, like something flipped inside him.


"Adrian… he is moving a lot. Like, a lot a lot." Xavier said. "Okay, no offense to our kid." He said, gritting his teeth, "but I think they're trying to make a jailbreak."


I rushed to his side, dropping to my knees. 


Another movement, stronger this time. His whole abdomen seemed to tense and roll.


"Damn." I muttered. "That can't be comfortable."


"It's not!" He snapped, but then whimpered. "He is been like this since last night. I haven't slept, Adrian. They kicked me in the bladder. Twice."


By the time Jaxon and Michael showed up, Xavier looked utterly drained and mildly homicidal.


"What's going on?" Jaxon asked, alarmed.


Michael was already pulling up a chair.
