Chapter 17 - For Family

As Dapper saw the documents, a wave of guilt hit him. He instantly regretted ever making such an absurd request.

'I didn't know Ruth was this kind… I ruined my last life because of this same shitty trait of mine. I can't let her go through with this.' Dapper thought, then gently pushed the folder back toward her.

"You see, I was just testing you. I didn't mean it for real. I would feel like shit if I actually took half of your property. You literally pay all my bills," he said with a shake of his head.

"Heh, what are you saying, darling? Even if you didn't ask, it's customary for the wealthier partner to split their property after marriage. You would've done the same if you were richer. I was actually surprised when you brought it up that day—I thought it was just the natural thing to do. You're my husband, not some slave," Ruth said with a warm smile as she pushed the folder back into his hands.

"Are you sure…?" Dapper asked, finally taking the folder after seeing how serious she was.

"Yes. I trust you, darling. I know you'll become a great leader… and a great f-father," Ruth added, the last word coming out in a hushed whisper as her cheeks turned red.

'So I can actually get half the property of a rich girl just by marrying her legally? What a sweet custom… But there's one problem.' Dapper looked at Ruth, then suddenly pulled her into a hug, planting a kiss on her lips.

The surprise on Ruth's face quickly melted as she kissed him back. He eased her onto the couch, his lips pressed to hers while fondling her breasts through her clothes.

"Mmmh~ I still feel a little sore down there, darling. I'm sorry— I also need to buy the pregnancy prevention pills since you are not ready for a baby yet… I'll go serve your food," Ruth murmured, gently pushing him off as she rose and made her way to the kitchen.

"Don't forget to sign the document, darling," she called over her shoulder before disappearing.

"Oof~ no pussy for me tonight, I guess…" Dapper muttered—only for a sudden notification to pop up before his eyes.

[Congratulations! First task of showing Belinda who is the boss has been completed. The host will receive a reward shortly.]

The screen transitioned to a flashy menu with a spin wheel, which started spinning rapidly on its own. After a few tense seconds, it slowed and landed on a small icon.

[Congratulations: You have received a Level.1 Spell: Fireball.]

[Description: This spell allows the host to conjure a ball of fire. The number of fireballs that can be cast depends on the host's mana pool.]

Dapper stared at the message, stunned. He had just received one of the most basic spells that practically every system user already had. Level.1 spells were like essentials—99.9% of users had them by default.

'What the fuck? Bay, can you explain why I didn't have these basic skills to begin with? And what's with the spell levels?'

[Very well, Master. As you mentioned, 99.9% of people have basic spells such as Fireball, Wind Burst, etc. Unfortunately, you fall into the 0.1% who don't. As for spell levels, they denote rarity and complexity. For example, Fire Arrow is a Level.5 spell, while Fireball is Level.1. It's a matter of accessibility since more people can cast Fireball than Fire Arrow. Still, in the right hands, a Fireball can raze a town to ashes.]

'Thanks for the info. What about the other spell in my Grimoire? The one without a level?'

[Ah, "Ventus Modentus." That's an exclusive spell tailored just for you. The system created it specifically to raise female skirts with flawless precision, regardless of the angle—unlike standard wind spells.]

'I see… so I can have exclusive spells too but a perverted one as the first sucks . I wonder if I can start crafting them myself later.'

[Fufu~ Master has been reading too many comics again. While spell-crafting is possible, I suggest focusing on grinding Life Points first.]

'Fucking stupid system…' Dapper growled inwardly, miming a strangle at the air—just as Ruth returned, carrying a tray.

"Since it's already late, I figured you could eat in the living room," she said gently, placing the tray on the center table. "I made sandwiches for dinner. Sorry… they're probably not so fresh now."

"They're perfect—you just made them a few hours ago," Dapper replied, grabbing one stuffed to the brim. "Besides, you really should let the cook handle this. You work all day."

"Never. I'll always make my husband's meals myself. Just like my mom did for our family every single day," Ruth said with a soft smile, her fingers tracing her necklace in thought.

After eating, Ruth insisted he sign the documents. Soon after, they headed to bed.

---

The next morning.

Ruth woke as usual, gave Dapper a soft peck, stretched, and dressed up. Her eyes landed on the bloodied clothes from the night before—the ones from when she lost her virginity. Her heart fluttered at the memory.

She quietly left the room and headed downstairs. But midway, her nose caught a mouthwatering aroma. Curious, she followed it into the kitchen.

And there she was.

"B–Belinda? What are you doing? Since when do you cook for yourself?" Ruth asked in shock. Her sister, who rarely ever touched the kitchen, was standing over the stove.

"Hehe~ good morning, sister! I'm making breakfast for the family. I woke up early since Dapper is going to school," Belinda said cheerfully, flashing a dazzling smile that oddly matched her goth aesthetic.
