Chapter 22 :A one-time emotional connection.

Huxley ultimately didn't dare to offend Chasel Mills. His current position was directly tied to Chasel's influence. In his eyes, Chasel's background was unfathomable. Not only could he not afford to offend him, but he also needed to curry favor; perhaps one day, it could help him climb even higher.

However, while Huxley thought this way, others were completely unaware. When he spoke, Nora Mills and Samir both widened their eyes in disbelief.

Samir, in particular, trembled all over. This couldn't be happening. This wasn't how things were supposed to go! Why on earth would Huxley show such deference to Chasel Mills, willing to betray his own brother just to meet Chasel's demands? It was unfathomable!

Meanwhile, Elliot Price, still lying on the ground, looked ashen, as if he had lost everything. Huxley's words felt like a death sentence for him. Just who was Chasel Mills to command such fear and respect that even Huxley wouldn't dare cross him?

Suddenly, Elliot recalled something. The death of Billy and Huxley's rise to power—others might not know the details, but as one of Huxley's subordinates, he had heard whispers about it.

It was because Billy had offended a young man. Could it be...?Elliot Price's pupils constricted in fear.

At this point, he didn't even need Huxley's instructions. He immediately rushed over and knelt before Chasel Mills.

"Mr. Mills, I was blind to not recognize your greatness. Please, I beg you, show mercy and let me go. Just think of me as a pile of stinky dog poop—filthy and disgusting—don't let me tarnish your reputation..."

Elliot repeatedly bowed his head, pleading for forgiveness.

Chasel Mills stood up, adjusted his clothing, and smoothed out his shirt before finally looking down at Elliot, who was begging on the ground."The mistake you made is unforgivable!"

"However, you did say one thing correctly: you really are a pile of stinky dog poop. Killing you would just dirty my hands!"

After saying that, Chasel Mills stepped forward, heading toward the door.

As he walked past the bald Huxley, he casually remarked, "Feed him to the dogs!"

His tone was so nonchalant that it sent shivers down the spines of everyone present!

Even Huxley shuddered at the thought of that image.

Chasel Mills remained expressionless. He had promised to make Elliot Price die in a cruel way, and he intended to keep that promise.

After giving his orders, Chasel Mills didn't linger and took a step forward. This time, however, he walked right up to Nora Mills and Samir.

"What... what do you want?" Samir stammered, his voice trembling. Gone was the gentlemanly demeanor he once had. His legs shookuncontrollably.

"Chasel Mills, you can't really think Samir is involved in this! He's been with me the whole time; there's no way he could have done those things. It must be that person slandering him!" Nora Mills quickly stepped in front of Samir, clearly afraid that Chasel might lash out.

Chasel Mills glanced at Nora, his expression complicated. He was ruthless and cold-blooded towards his enemies, striking fear into their hearts. Yet, when it came to family, he always maintained a softness within.

Finally, Chasel sighed and said, "Nora, if you still consider me your brother and have even a shred of trust left in me, then listen: leave him.He is not a good match for you!"

At his words, Nora shivered slightly, biting her lip. In a tone that mixed defiance with anger, she retorted, "You've become a kept man; what right do you have to judge him?"

Chasel shook his head, no longer looking at Nora. Instead, he turned to Samir and patted him on the shoulder. "Originally, your fate would have been much worse, but for Nora's sake, I'll let you off this time. If you cross me again, I'll make you regret ever coming into this world."

"And if you dare to harm Nora, no matter where you run, I will make sure you pay for it!"

With that, Chasel Mills withdrew his hand andignored everyone else, striding away.

As he walked from the private room to the corridor outside, the crowd of men in black immediately stepped back, parting like the Red Sea to create a wide path for him. They lowered their heads in reverence, too afraid to even glance at Chasel, let alone breathe loudly.

If it had been an ordinary person in such a situation, their legs would have likely given way from fear. But Chasel Mills remained completely indifferent.

Nora Mills watched his retreating figure, a feeling rising within her. No matter the obstacles in her way, she would charge forward without hesitation.Nora clenched her small fists tightly. At that moment, she felt a flicker of doubt. Chasel had claimed he was a soldier, now retired. Was he really lying?

But before she could dwell on it further, her thoughts were interrupted by Samir.

"My... my arm..." Samir said, panic evident in his voice.

"What's wrong?" Nora quickly turned to him.

"My arm... I can't move it!"

Samir strained to move his left hand, but it was Completely numb! His left shoulder was where Chasel Mills had just slapped him.

"It must be Chasel Mills's doing. I'm going to find him," Nora Mills immediately reacted.

Samir quickly followed her, not daring to linger any longer. However, he grabbed Nora's arm. Even if he had a hundred more chances, he wouldn't dare to confront Chasel Mills again. After all, he was a friend of Huxley, and unless his father intervened, it would be a bad idea.

Meanwhile, Chasel Mills had found Michelle Allen and Belle.

"Are you okay?" Michelle asked, immediately concerned upon seeing Chasel.

"Do I look like I'm in trouble?" Chasel replied with a light smile.

Seeing Chasel looking perfectly fine, without a single wrinkle on his clothes, Michelle finally let out a sigh of relief.

If it weren't for Belle, she would never have just stood there waiting.

"Daddy!"

Belle cried out, immediately throwing herself into Chasel Mills' arms.

Chasel lifted Belle up and gently rubbed her little head. "Don't be afraid, Belle. It's all okay now."

Leaning against Chasel's shoulder, Belle nodded slightly before burying her little head in the crook of his neck, wrapping her small arms tightly around him."Just now, a bald guy came with a bunch of people, saying they were here to help you. What's going on?" Michelle Allen asked, still a bit worried but also curious. "Do you still have connections with the underworld?"

Chasel froze for a moment.

If Michelle knew about his ties to those shady figures, she might be grateful now, but she wouldn't feel safe leaving Belle in his care in the future. Chasel was well aware that part of the reason Michelle agreed to let him pretend to be Belle's father was because he was a retired soldier with a reliable character and a clean background.

Chasel smiled. "Not at all. A buddy of mine used to know him. That bald guy was just doing me a favor because of my friend. It was just a one-time thing, and after this, there won't be any more connections."

Upon hearing this, Michelle Allen visibly relaxed.

"Chasel Mills, thank you so much today. If it weren't for you..."

Only then did Michelle show a hint of vulnerability.

Before, whether facing Elliot Price or in front of Belle, she had acted tough.

But she was still just a woman; how could she not feel a bit flustered?

"I'm Belle's dad, so of course, it's my responsibility," Chasel Mills said with a smile.

As he spoke, he held Belle close and walked with Michelle Allen toward the elevator, ready to take Belle home.

Not far behind them, with their backs turned to Chasel, Nora Mills and Samir clearly heard what he had just said.

A favor, just a one-time thing! It's all used up now! No strings attached!

A wave of disappointment washed over Nora. It turned out that Chasel was only doing this because of a friend's favor. He was still that same man who had come out of prison with nothing, living off the support of a wealthy female CEO.

In Samir's eyes, a flicker of malice flashed.
