The Devil's Bride

Episode 83: The Gate Opens
The world held its breath.
Aureon's body lay still, his chest aglow with a pulsing black sigil—ancient, jagged, and alive. It wasn't fire. It wasn't celestial.
It was primordial.
Seraphina cradled her son. "Stay with me… please," she whispered, tears streaming down her face and falling like starlight onto his cheeks.
Lucian stood frozen. "This... this isn't the First Flame anymore."
The Harbinger's face was pale, almost inhuman. "The First Flame was only a shadow—a vessel. This is what came before light and darkness. Before gods. Before sin."
From Aureon's chest, the sigil pulsed again—and cracked the sky.
Reality split.
A colossal eye opened in the heavens. No iris. No pupil. Just endless void swirling within. The ground trembled, not from power—but from the memory of fear. Every creature, every soul… remembered this force.
Because it birthed everything—and demanded it back.
Lucian stepped forward, blade drawn. "What is it?"
The Harbinger knelt, trembling. "We called it the Father Flame. But its true name… was struck from all creation. A name not spoken since the First War."
A whisper curled through the air.
> "I. Am. Return."
Aureon's eyes shot open—pure black.
Not possessed.
Opened.
The boy rose, eyes blank, and spoke in a voice that echoed across dimensions.
> "You shattered the First Flame. So I… bring the Final One."
A torrent of fire unlike any seen before surged from the cracked sky. Not red. Not gold. But voidfire—a black blaze that unmade whatever it touched.
Gabriel raised his trumpet. "We must end this now!"
But the Harbinger grabbed his arm. "Blow that, and the veil between realms will tear. We'll lose everything."
Lucian raced to Aureon. "You're not him! You're our son!"
Aureon blinked. Something flickered—recognition. "Father?"
"Yes! Fight it, Aureon. You're more than this power. You're love. You're our light."
Seraphina joined him, clutching the boy's hand. "Come back to us."
For a moment—he did.
His hand reached out. Light touched theirs.
But then… the sigil flared brighter.
And a voice deeper than time whispered through the air:
> "The Gate is open."
The earth shattered.
From the sky descended a figure wreathed in shadowfire—taller than mountains, face veiled in flame. Horns like dying suns. Wings of ash.
> "Did you truly think the devil was the end?" it asked.
Lucian stepped forward, gripping his sword tighter. "Then you've never met me."
The being smirked. "Oh, I know you, Lucian. You are… my son's vessel."
Seraphina's gasp broke the silence. "Lucian—what does he mean?"
Lucian's heart stopped. "…No."
The Harbinger's voice cracked.
> "You were born to the darkness, Lucian. But it wasn't hellfire. It was origin fire."
> "You're not just the devil's heir…"
> "You're the Gatekeeper."
