Chapter 19 - Choosing the Main Quest Mod

Mo actually wasn't very sure.

He didn't know which mod the Home Scroll he drew came from.

But that didn't matter, because he had already returned to the embrace of the Minecraft Overworld.

Looking at the mossy cobblestone blocks, chests, and the nearby zombies constantly growling, Mo felt an unprecedented sense of familiarity.

It was like a severely socially anxious shut-in, dragged out for a full day of intense socializing, finally getting home, stuffing himself with greasy junk food, collapsing on his bed, blasting the AC, and playing his favorite game—pure bliss.

"This feeling... it's just amazing..."

After slashing down a few nearby zombies, Mo could hardly resist the urge to howl at the sky.

However, he was still in an underground cave; even if he looked up, he couldn't see the sky. So for now, Mo needed to hurry up and get back to the surface.

"Nothing has changed here at all. It's like time has stopped."

Mo looked around and found everything exactly the same: the mob spawner was still disabled with torches, the Tome of Ages was lying on the ground, and nothing seemed altered.

Of course, that's a feature of the game—the so-called chunk system. Once a player leaves, that chunk stops refreshing. All machines and mobs inside become frozen in time unless the player uses certain mods to force-chunk-load the area, like the World Anchor from the Railcraft mod.

"I really didn't expect... the Mystical Island mod could send me into the Marvel world."

Seeing the golden-covered book on the ground, Mo couldn't help but sigh.

Yes, he was slowly starting to piece everything together. Printed on the Tome of Ages' cover was a string of English letters, something like "Marvel Comics"—wasn't that clearly Marvel?

Shaking his head, Mo had Steve pick up the Tome of Ages and returned directly to the surface.

Normally, after finishing a journey through the Marvel world, you would think Mo would take a little break. But for Mo, the Minecraft world was like a paradise—building and exploring through Steve felt like pure gameplay, not work. Instead of feeling exhausted, he actually felt more relaxed.

So after getting back to his simple underground base, Mo barely rested. He immediately stuffed Steve's inventory full of stone pickaxes and went straight back into the mines.

He had no choice, really. After battling Abomination, defeating Obadiah, and taking down the Iron Monger in the Marvel world, Steve's equipment had suffered heavy durability loss.

Especially the iron sword and shield, which were nearly broken. It was urgent to dig for resources and rearm—otherwise, Mo would feel uneasy.

Honestly, vanilla survival was way too easy for Mo.

In less than half a day, Steve had already mined a mountain of ores.

Just coal alone, he gathered six to seven stacks; two and a half stacks of iron ore; a stack-plus of gold ore; a mountain of lapis and redstone; and copper, tin, aluminum, and lead from IndustrialCraft and Tinkers' Construct mods.

He even found almost half a stack of diamonds.

Good thing Mo had drawn the Alchemical Bag from Equivalent Exchange during the Marvel lottery. Otherwise, just the cobblestone would have forced Steve to make several trips. It turned out the Alchemical Bag was more useful than Mo had originally thought.

After digging up enough resources, Mo had Steve craft over a dozen furnaces, smelting ores and stone simultaneously to stockpile materials for building.

While Steve was busy smelting and crafting armor...

Mo's real body started thinking about the next development plan.

After his brief journey in the Marvel world, Mo had picked up several new mods: MrCrayfish's Furniture Mod, Gravestone, Smart Moving, Mystical Island, Pam's HarvestCraft, Biomes O'Plenty, JourneyMap, Avaritia, Chinese localization mods, Tinkers' Construct, Mutant Creatures, and IndustrialCraft.

The first mods Mo decided to abandon were IndustrialCraft and Pam's HarvestCraft.

He had explained the HarvestCraft reasons before. As for IndustrialCraft, it was similar—being a large tech mod, its crafting recipes were extremely complicated. Without an auxiliary mod to view recipes, trying to play something like IndustrialCraft was basically impossible for Mo.

Forget about Quantum Suits or Nano Swords—

Even a simple Wooden Battery Box could kill him with frustration.

Of course, other mods like Furniture, Gravestone, and Avaritia were also set aside.

The reasons were simple: Furniture Mod was mainly for decoration and not very useful. You can't exactly win battles in Marvel by pulling out a chair, right?

What's next? Pull out a sofa to beat someone up?

Come on…

What do you think you are, Jackie Chan in a furniture store?

As for the Gravestone mod... Honestly, even though Mo knew now that his death would just respawn him back at the starting point (since his last words had been turned into a survival modpack), would you dare to actually test that?

And about Avaritia—

Mo *wanted* to play it, but the mod was just too resource-heavy.

On top of that, its crafting recipes were absolutely insane—comparable to cooking in the underworld. Without being able to view the recipes properly, it was basically unplayable.

So after cutting out a bunch of options, Mo finally pieced together a rough development path:

First, he was definitely going to play with the Mutant Creatures mod.

Because the Ender Hand from the mod was simply too useful. Mo figured he could farm some Mutant Endermen Kings and stockpile Ender Hands. Maybe next time he traveled back to Marvel, he could strengthen his Ender Field powers.

Not to mention the Mutant Zombie King's drops were pretty sweet too.

A Giant's Hammer versus Thor's Mjolnir? That sounded like it could be fun.

Besides Mutant Creatures—The mod Mo had the most hope for now was Tinkers' Construct.

It added tons of powerful weapons and tools, but more importantly, it was extremely easy to pick up.

It even thoughtfully gifted Mo a Tinkers' Construct handbook right off the bat.
