Chapter 20 - The Lifelong Enemy of the God of War, Mo

"Tinkers' Construct, you're so considerate..."

Looking at the *Tinkers' Construct* manual in Steve's inventory, Mo couldn't help but sigh in admiration.

Back in the day when he used to grind on servers with friends, Mo didn't feel much about it. But today, having lost the ability to view crafting recipes, he finally realized... just how thoughtful mods with built-in tutorials really were.

*Tinkers' Construct* — the name says it all.

It's a mod all about craftsmen and their tools.

*Tinkers' Construct* adds many new ores, metals, and tools to the game.

Every tool in *Tinkers' Construct* is made from different parts — for example, a pickaxe is divided into a pickaxe head, a handle, and a binding.

Players can craft these parts with various materials — like using gold ingots for handles, diamonds for pickaxe heads, and obsidian for bindings. You can even use materials from other mods, such as IndustrialCraft's steel ingots, bronze ingots, or iridium ingots.

Almost every material in *Tinkers' Construct* comes with unique properties.

For instance, tools made from sponge come with Silk Touch by default, while iron tools have magnetic properties that increase item pickup range.

Of course, there are also advanced alloys native to *Tinkers' Construct*, such as Manyullyn, whose weapons have extremely high attack power — practically one-shotting vanilla mobs.

In addition, *Tinkers' Construct* adds a feature called "modifiers."

Every tool has three modifier slots by default. Players can use these to add effects similar to enchantments — for example, adding lapis can give Fortune and Looting effects, and adding redstone increases tool swing speed.

If you want, you can also strengthen tools with diamonds or emeralds.

Diamonds increase attack power and durability, and allow tools to mine obsidian. Emeralds provide an extra 50% durability boost — both are excellent bonuses.

Even if a tool's durability runs out, it won't vanish like in vanilla Minecraft.

Players can repair their tools at a Tool Station by combining them with materials.

Well... how to put it?

*Tinkers' Construct* might not be as complex or vast as tech mods, but its playability is incredibly high — players can fully customize their weapons to their liking.

With enough cross-mod content installed, you can even forge true legendary weapons — weapons that grow stronger the more monsters you kill. You can even craft items like Vibranium from the Marvel Universe or Uru metal from Asgard through *Tinkers' Construct* add-ons.

Just imagine — when Hela crushed Thor's hammer with her bare hands in *Thor: Ragnarok*, and Thor was suffering, Mo could forge him a brand-new battle axe from Uru metal. What a scene that would be!

Goodness, even Eitri the dwarf king would be impressed.

Of course, all of that is secondary.

What really touched Mo now was that, upon loading, *Tinkers' Construct* actually gifted him a full tutorial book.

The manual practically recorded the entire mod's mechanics.

At this stage, nothing was more precious to Mo.

"Alright, decision made — first build up *Tinkers'* gear, then wipe out the Withered Ender Dragon bunch," said Mo, clapping the book shut, firming up his next course of action.

Once the goal was set, Mo and Steve got to work immediately.

As a former *human-shaped ore grinder*, Mo declared his house would never lack ores — and now was no exception. Minerals were quickly smelted into ingots, and with a grand wave of his hand, Steve immediately upgraded his gear.

The worn-out iron sword and shield were replaced with new ones.

All stone pickaxes were scrapped too — their mining speed was just too slow. Mo crafted ten iron pickaxes as a stopgap.

As for Steve's iron armor—

Mo upgraded it to a full set of diamond armor.

Technically, *Tinkers' Construct* does have an armor add-on that lets players forge armor *Tinkers'* style, but sadly, Mo had only unlocked the base mod so far. The armor module wasn't available yet, so Steve had to make do with diamond armor for now.

After gearing up, Mo had Steve start gathering sand, clay, and gravel.

These three materials are needed to build the *Tinkers' Smeltery*.

Unlike the vanilla furnace, this is a large multi-block structure that melts ores using lava to produce *double* amounts of molten metal.

Once the molten metals are poured into casts, you can produce corresponding tool parts.

Since it was still early in the game, the smeltery Mo built wasn't very big, so it didn't require too many materials. Soon, Steve came back with a few stacks.

Mixing the materials and firing them into seared bricks, Mo rolled up his sleeves and started building the smeltery.

Truth be told, Mo had never actually built one himself before.

Back on the server, he always partnered with a girl whose ID was 'xiaoyao.'

Mo handled combat and exploration, while she managed logistics. Sadly, Mo had already died in his original world. He wondered whether she ever thought about him now and then.

Shaking his head, Mo pushed away these random thoughts and focused on building the smeltery, constantly cross-referencing with the manual. After several rounds of trial and error, he finally completed the structure.

Earlier, during mining, Mo had brought back several buckets of lava, so he poured them right into the smeltery.

With a soft flash of firelight, the *Tinkers' Smeltery* came to life, and the ores Mo threw inside began slowly melting into liquid.

"Okay, next up — the Tool Stations."

Flipping through the manual, Mo started crafting a bunch of stations — the stencil table, part builder, tool station, and other bits and pieces.

Not gonna lie, crafting recipes were definitely Mo's weak point. He fumbled around awkwardly for almost an entire day just getting these stations set up.

By the time he finished everything, it was already the next morning.

"Damn... this is way too much hassle!"

Mo groaned, fiddling with his stone parts and a few duplicate gold casts, his face full of pain: "Man, mining ores wasn't this exhausting. Damn it — why don't they just give me an Equivalent Exchange mod...?"

If it weren't for the Tinkers' Manual, Mo probably would have rage-quit. Even so, he still *died* in place three times while making all the part casts.

Once the casts were done, Mo finally breathed a sigh of relief.

The man who could mine for three days straight without blinking was now feeling a type of fatigue he couldn't even describe.

And yet — things were about to get even harder.

Mo had prepared a bunch of ores for alloying, intending to make bronze. But because there was still some molten aluminum left in the smeltery, the mix turned into molten aluminum brass instead.

Seeing this, Mo exploded on the spot.

"WHAT THE HELL!!!"

Mo felt like he was about to lose it — on the verge of a full-blown rage meltdown:

"F***!!! What kind of cursed setting is this?! Maybe next time I should head over to the Marvel world, gather the Infinity Stones, snap my fingers, and see if I can summon her here to help me with crafting... If that's too much, at least give me a damn recipe list — this is getting unplayable!!!"
