A Sad Dream
“My lady, the wind is unusually strong today,” Hans began nervously as he stepped into the drawing room. “This is the item His Lordship requested to be completed within a month. It was only just finished due to the delays— ah!”
Hans stumbled over the threshold, nearly dropping the wooden box in his arms. As the box wobbled precariously in his grip, his gaze darted around the room, searching for a focal point to steady himself. It landed on the crimson carpet, its golden arabesque patterns shimmering under the midday light. His ears flushed a deep red as he straightened himself, clutching the box to his chest.
“P-Pardon my impudence, my lady, but before Count Valks arrives, perhaps you might consider changing your attire?”
Liliette blinked in confusion. She glanced down at herself, examining her plain gray robe.
