Klera's Point of View
I stepped onto the stage and took a deep breath. Headmistress Ophelia guided me to the table.
I first approached the Crystal ball, which would determine my Class. I touched it, closed my eyes, and imbued it with my magic energy. As I continued, a light started to glow. Then, Master Felicia shouted, "Psychic!" Everyone clapped, and a small smile appeared on my face.
I let out a small sigh as I approached the empty tome presented to me on the table. Headmistress Ophelia interrupted, "Psychics develop many Specialties over time, just like Master Felicia. She began with Recognition, which she later used to unlock Teleportation. Master Felicia's Recognition ability allows her to create a detailed mental image of a place; this mental map is crucial to her teleportation. By focusing intently on the remembered image, she essentially locks onto the location, allowing instant teleportation. The clearer her mental image, the more accurate and reliable her teleportation becomes. The key is your Tome of Abilities; if you're lucky enough to possess a good one, it unlocks a wide range of Abilities."
And Reminder, students:
Your Tome of Spells, Skills, and Abilities will help you develop many powers, but careful use is essential. Each book contains numerous unique spells, skills, and abilities, and you must practice them consecutively. Practice easy magic first; avoid attempting strong powerful magics before you're ready and don't push beyond your limits. Therefore, I strongly recommend consecutive practice.
After the Headmistress's long discussion, I immediately touched the presented Tome in the table and imbued it with my magic energy. The lifeless, ordinary book instantly transformed, its cover glowing a vibrant purple with rich brown linings. Intrigued, I moved to the Water basin to discover my magic item. Upon dipping my hand into the water, a portion levitated, swirling and shaping itself in the air before solidifying into a striking Amulet. Then the Grand Hall erupted in applause.
"Next, Hebrew Velano, please step forward to the stage to discover your class," the Headmistress called after I descended from the stage. Hebrew patted me on the shoulder, saying, "Congratulations," before proceeding to the table with clasped hands. First, he went to the Crystal Ball to determine his class. Touching it, eyes closed, he imbued it with his magic energy. A brilliant light erupted, and Master Felicia's voice rang out, "Mage!" The Grand Hall erupted in applause.
He then moved to the Tome, touching it and filling it with his magic. The book slowly shifted, its color transforming into a deep brown with vibrant green linings. Master Felicia proclaimed, "Earth Mage!" Again, applause filled the hall, but this time, it was abruptly cut short by a discontented "Ehh!?" The voice echoed through the Grand Hall, silencing the celebration. Hebrew's disappointment was evident as he scrubbed his head, muttering, "Sorry, I thought I would become a Wind Mage."
The Headmistress then responded, "Once you determine your specialty, it can't be changed; it's permanent," she said to Hebrew. "And don't underestimate Earth magic. It's versatile, stable and durable, useful in battle and defense. Its ability to create long-lasting structures, manipulate terrain, and even draw nutrients from the earth for nature growth gives it unique advantages over elements like fire, water, or wind. I know this because I'm an Earth Mage myself." She added, a gentle smile softening her features.
Applause thundered as the Headmistress revealed herself an Earth Mage; hushed whispers and murmured conversations filled the air among my fellow students.
Hebrew approached the Water basin, his gaze fixed on the shimmering surface. As his hand dipped into the water, a portion rose, swirling and shaping itself in a mesmerizing dance before solidifying into a magnificent Magic Staff. The Grand Hall erupted in thunderous applause.
Fast forward
After a long morning of determining our Classes, Specialties, and Magical weapons and items, the Class Identification is now finished
"Congratulations to each one of you! May our Five Pillars bless you on your journey. Out of 88 students, we have 12 Psychics, 10 Priestesses and Priests, 23 Mages, 20 Marksmen, and 23 Swordsmen."
"And now," the Headmistress announced, her voice echoing in the vast Grand Hall, "a new chapter begins. You will travel to the Pallet Capital, a place where destiny awaits, to discover the weapons and items fated to be yours!" Excited murmurs filled the air as the students imagined the journey ahead. "Remember," she said, her voice softer now, "you will go to the Portal Room with your tutors and our staff to arrive early at the Capital. A portal there connects to our Academy. They will assist you in this momentous task. But be back in the Grand Hall before the sun dips below the horizon. Greater revelations and challenges await."
"Quickly now!" The headmistress's sharp command sent the students scattering towards the Portal Room, Assistant Brook leading the way.
Hebrew found me heading back towards the main corridor. "Klera, aren't you coming with us?"
"I have my magic item now," I said, showing him the amulet. "It was my father's."
"Well, we're off then," he said, already walking away to join his fellow mages. His words stung. He made friends so easily. I remembered him saying yesterday, "He Have trouble making friends, my foot! He made friends in just one day!" I murmured to myself.
As they headed toward the Portal Room, I wandered down the main corridor. Lost in thought, I was startled by a woman's voice behind me: "So you didn't join them?"
To my surprise, it was the Headmistress.
Shocked, I bowed. "Headmistress," I replied. "I have my Father's amulet; my Mother gave it to me."
"Yes, I knew your parents," she said. "We were companions in a party back then—slaying monsters, completing quests, facing any challenge together. Your mother and father were legendary." Her words surprised me.
"Perhaps you could be friends with my daughter, too," she suggested.
"We were all quite surprised," I said. "My fellow students and I had no idea you had a daughter at the academy until you announced her name earlier."
"Yes, maybe we can be good friends someday," I added, a hopeful smile touching my lips.
Fast forward
We were back in the Grand Hall, a vibrant display of magical weapons and items surrounding my fellow students.
"Congratulations again, students, on completing the task!" the Headmistress announced, her voice brimming with pride. I was still a little stunned from our earlier conversation; we'd spent a considerable amount of time discussing my family.
"As a reward," she continued, a smile playing on her lips, "each of you will receive these sturdy Leather Book holders. They'll keep your Tomes safe and secure at your side, along with your smaller Magic weapons or items." Three staff members efficiently distributed the handsomely crafted holders; they're like small satchels on a belt.
"And finally," she added, her voice filled with excitement, "your Class badges! Each design is unique to your class, making instant identification easy." A staff member began the distribution of class badges. The Mages received blue badges, each meticulously crafted with a wand emblem. Priests and Priestesses were presented with white badges, elegantly displaying a scepter. Psychics received magenta badges, each featuring a detailed crystal ball. Marksmen were given yellow badges, showcasing a bow and arrow. Finally, the Swordsmen received red badges, each bearing the image of a sword. Each badge was carefully designed to clearly represent its corresponding class, ensuring easy identification within the Academy.
"Alright everyone, gather around!" the Headmistress chirped, a mischievous glint in her eye. "Ready for a little adventure?"
"Prepare yourselves for a thrilling journey into the mysterious Forbidden Woods! A realm teeming with fantastical creatures, monsters and challenging trials awaits."
A collective gasp rippled through the hall. A trial? Now? We hadn't even begun to master our magic! It left us speechless—how could we possibly face whatever challenges lay ahead in the monster-filled forest? Panic threatened to overwhelm the excitement of the moment.
