Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

He felt the blood essence in his body increase, an invigorating feeling overcome him, he had a feeling he could use the other bloodline abilities now.

He moved his essence and with a thought his right hand was covered in what looked like dead wood but was incredibly hard. He swung his fist and a wave of air blaster out.

This was not because of the falcon ability, no, the strength behind his punch is what created the wind. He was satisfied with what the boar bloodline gave him.

Unlike the big brutish things he could better utilitise their ability instead of just charging straight ahead like an idiot. He willed the ability of the falcon and a ghust of wind was released from his hand.

This was underwhelming If he was being honest. Unlike the falcon he could not shoot wind blades, atleast not yet. He tried the bloodline of the raven and instead of blade feathers, a cloud of darkness covered his hand.

It felt cold and he had a feeling there was more to it, he touched a piece of wood and slowly the wood started rotting. It was slow, so slow it would be useless in battle but he could see the potential If they were allowed to grow.

Nightfall came and he took four blades with him instead of the usual two, with what he was going to be dealing with, extra weapons seem like a good idea.

He still remembers the fear he felt when that thing looked at him. Even as strong as he was now, his body still shivers thinking about it.

He was not very knowledgeable about bloodlines but he knew the stronger one was the higher their senses and the feeling he got just thinking about it made him shiver.

Steeling his heart he left for the forest. With his sight improved by the falcon bloodline he had no trouble seeing in the dark. He climbed a tree and waited.

He was not sure it would be out tonight but he was hopeful. He waited silently for 2 straight hours and his patience paid off. From the canopy of the trees it came.

Like a shadow of death it jumped on top of a big animal with two horns that was grazing the grass. The beast made a moooo sound as it died.

However instead of leaving and dragging off it prey like he had expected the cat simply sat there without moving, it back turned on him. Minutes passed like this with neither of them moving.

Having lost his patience he blasted a wave of ash, the sparks of fire bringing a dim glow of light in the dark forest. The ash covered the cat and hid it from his gaze.

He was yet to gain the ability to see through his ash, this was the only weakness of the ability, well this and the fact that he can't control it whatsoever once it leaves his body.

He waited for the wails of pain yet none came. Just as he was about to move to check what happened a claw hit him on his left side. It was fast and unexpected but on the last moment he was able to turn a small part of his body into wood.

The claw hit the wood part sending splinters of dried wood and blood flying. His body flew from a tree like a bullet breaking multiple trees on his path before falling and skidding for a few metres.

He stood up and crossed his blades in an x infront of him in a hurry. A sound like swords colliding echoed. Fortunately it appeared he had a bit more physical strength than the thing and stood his ground.

He swung his sword but it was faster, much faster than he was. With a flicker it was already on another tree, using it as a foothold it jumped at him.

He raised his blade to block it razor sharp claws. Sparks flew in the air from their collision, briefly lighting their surrounding. It kept jumping around him using the trees as a foothold.

Tired of this game he used wind to cover his blade slightly improving the speed of the swing, this caught it off guard. Got you, he whispered with a small smile.

The blade drew closer to it face in slow motion as if time had slowed down. It was mid air, there was no way it could dodge he thought.

He had finally got it he thought, he had won he thought, it swung it tail to the ground and touched it shadow with it tip. It was only the tip but that was all it needed.

Just as the blade was about to land, a few millimetres from drawing the blood of his foe the beast disappeared like a ghost. There was not warning or sound, it was simply gone.

Not expecting what happened, his swing continued drawing forward and he almost lost his footing. He opened his eyes with surprise.

Looking around in panic he did not see the cat, he could not even feel it essence or blood aura, which is something every creature with a bloodline and blood essence had, the only reason he knew it was around was the coldness in his bones.

The feeling of being hunted that echoed in his chest like a drum. He knew, he was no longer the one hunting it, it was hunting him but that was fine too.

After all, whether he was the hunter or the one being hunted did not matter because in the end, he was going to be the victor, he would make sure of that. He held his blades in a stance ready for battle.

Without warning something hit his back and sent him flying forward. It ripped his skin and flesh apart, had he not possessed the bloodline of the boar he would've died from that attack.

Blood gushed out of the wound like a water fall but he did not mind it, he could not afford to. He was trying to figure out how it was attacking him from his blind spot when his brain started processing things by itself.

He felt a tiny stream of blood essence rush to his brain and his thoughts process increased significantly. Within a second he had figured it out.

It was using the shadows but how, it was night, there should be no shadows, unfortunately he could not figure that one out yet so he did the only solution he could come up with.

Summoning his strongest bloodline. Although he could not fully control it, he had some level of control before it left his body. The ash was seperated into the dark grey matter of death and the orange sparks of fire.

Normally they would gush out in equal ratio or the grey matter would be more but he could change that, he could decide which one dominates and he chose fire.

If it used the cold darkness to hide then he would bring the warm light of death to flush it out. Embrace the flames bitch, he said as sparks flew of his hand and landed on trees combusting them and lighting the surroundings up.

Now now, why don't you come out and play, he said with a cruel grin.
