Chapter 37 - Chapter 35 Did I Make a Mistake?

Aveline

I dunno why, but I guess I should give Kai a chance.

He's a good boy, and he's been super sweet to me and Alia.

I mean—Alia. She's my bestest friend.

And if he was just treating her like a friend, then I'm fine with that.

I value my friends, okay?

'Cause finding a loyal, family-type friend—even just one—is rare.

That's why I care about her so much. She's loyal. She's my family, also part of my real family—

We were at the cafeteria, and I was deep in my fiction world again when Alia suddenly pinched me.

"Hey, idiot! Why the hell did you just pinch me?!"

"I mean—my rabbit, you were in your damn world, and me? I was feeling lonely in this one. That's why I need you here."

"Don't you dare butter me up, Ms. Chaos."

Alia gasped and dramatically held her heart. I just rolled my eyes.

"Hey, Alia. I need to ask you something. I'm dead serious."

"Wow. Rabbit is serious. Can't believe it. But whatever it is, ask me."

"I guess I should give Kai a chance. Like… he's a good boy. It might be a good option, right...?"

"What if it's not a good option, Aveline? Then what?"

"That's why I want to give him a chance. I don't think he's that type of boy."

"And which type of boy are you talking about, Rabbit?"

She's serious now.

Damn. Alia really is my personal spy.

"I mean like… the ditching type. A playboy. The kind that uses girls for their desires, blackmails them... We all know not all boys are bad."

"Yeah, but not all are good either. And how are you supposed to know if he's a good one, huh?

Aveline, you don't know for sure."

She had a point.

And my luck?

Oh, life's cruel with me. Like,

"You wanna do this? Lemme make it ten times harder for you."

Still… I wanted to give him a chance.

"What if I made a mistake? Will you still be with me?"

"I promise you, Aveline. I'll always be with you—in every damn decision."

"Then if I choose the wrong person… forgive me. Support me."

"Aveline, what do you mean?"

She was a little confused.

I get it. I was being all deep outta nowhere.

"Alia… I mean, if I choose Kai, you'll support me, right? No matter what."

She nodded. I hugged her.

I dunno if I'm doing the right thing or not—choosing him.

But I am doing it.

I'm choosing… him.

Alia sighed and nodded again.

"So, what's next, dear Aveline?"

"I guess… before my competition. It's already the 16th, right?"

"Aveline, your competition is on the 20th."

"Yup. I still have four days. Don't worry."

"Tomorrow, Alia… I'm going to tell him.

I don't know if it's the right thing or not, but I wanna do it."

"I don't care about consequences anymore.

Let's see what's gonna happen."

"No, Aveline, you should care about consequences, okay?

But if that's your decision, I'm with you."

That evening, I went back home, greeted Mom and Dad, then went straight to my room.

I was still thinking…

When suddenly—bam!—Mireline opened the damn door like privacy doesn't exist?!

But honestly? I needed her.

She knew I needed her.

"What's wrong, little bunny? You didn't come to greet your sister today?"

She sat beside me. She could tell something was on my mind.

Mireline knows me too well.

If I'm acting weird, she knows what's going on inside me.

She held my hand—like she used to when I got stressed—and I hugged her.

I told her everything.

I asked her about dating.

"Should I date Kai? Or shouldn't I? What should I do now…?"

She gently pulled me close.

"You should listen to your heart…

Like you did when you chose your life, instead of other people's opinions."

I knew what she meant—dance.

I chose dance, even knowing the consequences.

Even when Mom still didn't accept it.

But I chose it anyway.

Should I listen to my heart…?

Myself?

I dunno.

But I'm choosing it.

Ruby...

I wonder what she's doing right now.

And how she'll react when she finds out I decided to date Kai.

But why am I worrying about her?

She's the one who said:

"We ain't dating or something."

Yup.

We're not dating.

So I shouldn't worry about her.
