Picking Lex up in a princess carry she cuddles against me and nuzzles her cheek against my chest, "I don't hate you." Lex murmurs, making me smile, "Good, wouldn't want to lose my girlfriend the same day I got her." I tease and Lex huffs against my chest.
"Now, let's go get my Little One from the hatchery." I cheer like a proud father, totally stealing Owen's thunder as a RaptorDad.
"Your what?" Lex asks me while her cheek now rests against my shoulder and just from her tone alone I can tell she already doesn't like the idea of this little one.
"So, before you guys got here, we went on a little unscheduled tour of the nursery…and well I helped a baby raptor hatch from its egg, and well a connection even stronger than the one I have with Rexy now snapped into place.
"You're so weird, Boys are weird, I want a new, not a weird boyfriend." Lex murmurs teasingly.
"Sorry to tell you this sweetheart, but all boys are weird to girls like all girls are weird to boys, we just gotta make sure our weirdnesses merge well together."
"I'm not weird." Lex mutters in mock offense making both Tim and I laugh.
"You are definitely weird, Computer Geek." Tim teases too,.but there's a definite warmth to his teasing that wasn't quite there before, and it makes me happy to see that the two had bonded so much throughout this traumatic event.
"I like your weirdness, it's cute." I tease Alexis who nuzzles her cheek against me and I now remember I'm caked with blood both mine and raptor blood.
"Jerk…I like your weirdness too…" Lex murmurs and I can hear the genuineness in her voice which makes me smile.
"I'm not going near Rexy, though."
"I understand and I won't force you, she is really just a big loveable puppy though…" I reply to her and it is kinda a white lie, Lex snorts against my chest in disbelief while Tim is strangely quiet.
"What's on your mind?" I ask the boy who turns to look at me, there are so many questions burning in his eyes, but he settles for one, and it's a little surprising.
"Are you hurt? you're really bloody." Tim asks me with concern clear in his voice while he fidgets nervously.
"Nah, buddy I'm fine."
"Promise?" This one comes from Lex her and Tim's concern for my well being palpitable.
"Promise, look we're here." I can't help the wide happy smile that blooms on my face, only for it to twist, when I see the deep gouge marks in the metal door.
Setting Lex down on her feet I grab the door handle and twist the metal insides sheer and the door handle comes off, making me shut my eyes and release a sigh of frustration…why? Because I just did the same fucking thing my dad tried to do yesterday, but I broke the door.
"Umm, I think I can get it open." Lex says gently and I step back out of her way, "Please, I really want to get to Little One." I ask her and there's a lot of worry in my voice that makes Lex take this seriously, she nods to me, and points to the little security code panel, "I need access to those wires." She tells me and I rip the metal box from the wall and press the side of it shearing the screws off inside, exposing the wires inside.
Lex starts pulling out wires removing the plastic coating with her teeth within a minute Lex has the door open, I grab Lex, kiss her and the run down into the hatchery.
And come face to face with two very terrified women, one is Charlotte the other is a tanned skin woman who looks to be a couple years older than me in a Jurassic Park branded safari outfit with a medical bag thrown over her shoulder.
"Char!?" Lex yells in surprise and happiness, "Lexy?!" Charlotte yells back with a British accent, the two run to each other and hug.
"What are you doing here Lex?" Charlotte asks Lex, "Oh my god, Tim!" Charlotte lets go of and escapes Lex's hug and then hugs Tim.
"And you are?" I turn to the tanned skinned brown haired woman, "Jessica Harding vet here at the park like my dad, you can call me Jess, you're Alec Grant right? I saw you in your dad's book."
"Yup, that's me, don't mean to be rude but I have someone more important to see." I say to her and walk away, I can get a general sense of where Little One is.
"What a jerk!" I hear Jess Harding say, "He isn't, he's just worried about a baby Raptor that he helped hatch yesterday…he grew really attached to her." Lex says and I can hear her glaring at Jessica Harding for calling me a jerk.
"Oh, I know that one, she's a lot more docile than the others…he's still a jerk, though."
I come up to Little One who is in an enclosure, "Hey baby girl sorry it took Papa so long to get back to you." Little One blinks at me before making soft happy clicking sounds as I open the door to her enclosure and pick her up.
My eyes start to water as I stare into her golden eyes, "Let's blow this popsicle stand, Little One." I say as, my somehow still intact, over the shoulder messenger bag and gently set Little One inside while removing Clever Boy's talons, which I move to an outside pocket, Little One curls up in my bag and makes happy inquisitive clicking sounds.
I turn around and find Lex reaching up smiling at me with one of those large water bottles in her hands, that she pours on my head, cool but not uncomfortably cool water cascades down from my body, Little One lets dissatisfied and offended chirps, before settling down, after I send her some mental reassurances, "There now no one can tell you were crying while holding your raptor baby." Lex murmurs teasingly before grabbing an extra soft towel, she found somehow and starts wiping the blood and water off of me.
'Okay, I'm not usually one to be pampered, but this is nice.'
"So even though the power is back on, all the secured doors are still locked. Charlotte and Jessica have been locked in here since last night, and the phones are still down so they couldn't call for help." Lex tells me as Jessica glares at me in annoyance while Charlotte Lockwood smirks at Lex and I, eyes holding a hidden desire…whether that desire is for me or Lex I can't tell.
"Well, sounds like we need to go to the control room and have you work your computer sorceries to get things running right again." I say to Lex with a smile as she throws the bloody wet towel away with an expression that screams "EWW!" In the most girly way possible.
"It's not magic Alec." Lex says and rolls her eyes at me but there's a happy smile on her face as she rolls her eyes at me.
"May as well be to me." I joke this time getting a giggle and an exasperation filled eye rolling from her.
"Well, lead the way Raptor Papa." Lex teases making me laugh.
Leading our now larger little group to the control room, which is thankfully easy, due to Jessica and Charlotte giving directions.
Entering the control room I do a quick search finding it empty which I'm grateful for as now with Little One with me I don't want to have to fight anything and put her in unnecessary danger.
"Okay guys it's clear." I holler to the four the four posted outside at the door Lex without any nonsense rushes in and goes directly over to the late unmissed Nerdy's setup.
And gracefully slides into the command chair at Nedry's terminal, she stares at the screen for a moment, "This is a Unix system, I know this…it's the files for the whole park. It's like a phone book, it tells you everything, and lets you turn everything on and off." Lex mutters while falling into a zone, her fingers start to fly over the keyboard.
Tim and I both watch in amazement, as the computer starts to respond to Lex's commands, "She is totally a hacker." I joke to Tim, "Yeah, she's awesome."
"If you hurt her…please don't, our Dad leaving us, and then her thinking you died to save us…" Tim starts to threaten but then thinks better of it.
"I'll do my best not to Tim." And I mean it.
Lex continues to mutter to herself, "I've got to find the right file. Oh no, this isn't right. This might be right, no this isn't it."
Tim starts cheering Lex on, "C'mon, Lex! C'mon, Lex! Go, Lexie!" As a new menu flashes across the screen
Lex spots a box on the screen that reads something to herself and the computer speakers beep.
Lex suddenly cheers, "There it is, I got it! This is it, I did it. Yes, yes!
the control room buzzes to life.
Walking up behind Lex I rest my hand on the back of the chair, spin it around, and kiss her, breaking the kiss, "So this may be too soon but it's really hot watching you work your keyboard magic." I tease at the hearty blush on Lex's face; the teasing catcalls from Charlotte only further Lex's embarrassment, but the girl is stunned into silence.
"So…what works?" I ask Lex to distract her from her embarrassment.
"Phones, security systems, anything you ask for, we got it!" Lex proclaims proudly and I can't help but laugh.
'Anything I want, hmm, would it be too soon for a hot bath with you?' I think.
"Hey, why are you laughing?" Lex asks me loudly, sounding hurt and offended.
"S-sorry, I just had some thoughts at… your word choice…" I admit to Lex honestly and she blushes even more vibrantly, "Okay, you guys can flirt when we're off this island!" Jessica Harding says in annoyance, as she walks over and grabs the telephone.

In the bunker, a phone rings, breaking the tense threatening atmosphere and waking. Malcolm up, Hammond and the others look at each other, wide-eyed.
Hammond lunges for the phone, "Hello?!"
"Mr Hammond, call us a ride off of this island." Hammond is well and truly surprised to hear Jessica Harding's voice on the phone.

"Jessica…are the children alright?" Hammond asks, finally thinking of his grandkids, "Yeah, and Charlotte Lockwood is still here as well. We weren't able to leave the hatchery last night due to the doors locking us in. Denis Nerdy stole something from the fertilization lab." Jessica says as Lex turns back to the computer all the screens in the control room have come alive now, and data is scrolling by at incredible speed as every remaining system in the park comes back on line.
Jessica stays on the phone for a few more seconds before hanging up, "He's calling for a helicopter now, we should all head to the visitor center's entrance." Jess says and we all agree, when Lex stands up from her chair she takes my right hand in her's and leans her head against my shoulder Tim, blushes as he takes my left hand.
I look down and smirk at him, he looks away from me shyly, "Shut up, you said we were family back before." Tim says.
"I did, and I meant it, buddy." I smile as I say those words and the six of us make our way through the visitor's center.
"Hey uhh…I have to use the bathroom, I'll be quick…but don't wait for me, head to the entrance." I say to the group as we start to pass by the bathrooms,.and though Lex and Tim are highly reluctant to let go of me they do and Charlotte swoops in and starts dragging them away, I can sort of hear a muffled girl talk about me and our first kiss.
Entering the bathroom looking for any cameras not finding any, I concentrate on a section of wall, and a doorway appears, opening the door I walk inside, not having much time and noticing a large dog bed on the floor with a heat lamp over top of it.
I take Little One out of my messenger bag and lay her down on it, her little taloned hands gripping my fingers even as she sleeps.
"Sleep tight, sweet girl." I murmur and exit the pocket loft, then the bathroom and move to catch up with the others who are just at the entrance, "Hey, what I miss?" I ask jokingly and Lex and Tim return to my sides, we walk out of the visitor's center within minutes, Hammond, and Ellie bring two Jeeps to a tire squealing stop in front of the steps.
Malcolm is lying in the back of Hammond's Jeep, while Muldoon rides in the passenger seat.
"Come on kids let's go!" John yells but Tim and Lex stay with me and we get into Dad and Ellie's jeep, and like that we're racing to the helipad, I smirk as Rexy bursts out of the trees and starts chasing the jeeps Dad raises his gun with the intent to fire.
"Don't you dare shoot my Rexy!" I say to Dad and grab the barrel of the gun and move it so that it's pointing at me.
"Y-you, You know what I shouldn't even be surprised that you made friends with a dinosaur…this is just like you." Dad lets out a resigned sigh.
