"You made friends with a Dinosaur?" Jessica Harding asks me as Rexy leans in closer to the Jeep frightening everyone but me…and surprisingly Charlotte Lockwood, who is looking at me enraptured.
"Yip." I say and smile with so much enthusiasm and sweetness it could melt any glare…except Jess's.
"Wanna see something awesome?" I ask the group and dad groans no, but everyone else is showing at least a little interest.
Smirking I stand up in the back of the Jeep grab one of Rexy's exposed teeth lever myself onto her snout making her slow down a touch as I crawl up her head and along her neck once reaching her back I stand up taking a surfers pose, and give Rexy a mental nudging to run fastly towards the helipad.
As I pass by the rear Jeep I can't help but holler, "YEE-HAW!!!" Looking down I enjoy the gaping jawed expressions of both Jeeps occupants as Rexy easily outstrips both at their current speed.
Rexy and I reach the helipad, rather quickly, Rexy lays down on the ground for me to get off and then flops on her side and let's her tongue hang out as she pants from her physical exertion.
"You were great, sweetheart, you're the fastest Tyrannosaurus to ever walk the earth." I praise Rexy and can tell she loves the praise and my fingers scratching the underside of her jaw as her leg moves like a dog, and her tail twitches back and forth.
The helicopter hesitates to land seeing Rexy so close to the helipad but, when the others pull up in the Jeeps and Rexy doesn't react the pilot lands the copter, 'That's smaller than it should be for ten people, gonna be a tight fit hopefully it has enough fuel to make it to the mainland with so much extra weight.' I think but then see the fueling apparatus that has been stealthily hidden by the engineers that designed this platform.
"You've really done it, you tamed a Tyrannosaurus Rex." John Hammond bellows in awe as he looks at Rexy nuzzling me with her snout for me scratchies.
"Yup, she's just a playful girl who doesn't know her own strength and has never been properly socialized, honestly it's a miracle she was so easy to connect with." I reply back and I can see it's starting to dawn on Hammond just how ill conceived rushing to open a theme park was within five years and never properly mapping out these animals behavior patterns, or having a proper recapture force on hand to deal with an animal getting out of its paddock.
As Dad walks over to me with a mix of a giddy and unnerved smile on his face, Rexy starts to tense, "C-can I?" Dad asks me and I know what he wants to do. I look Rexy in her massive eye, and do my best to convey to her my feelings of love and trust to my dad. Rexy relaxes, "Sure, she loves scratchies right here." I give Dad my approval and grab his hand as he cautiously moves closer and I place his hand in the target zone.
"This is…" Dad mutters and I totally understand, "Yeah…Yeah it is, it'd be a shame if no one else got to see these animals…the safety for both people and animals needs to be revamped and improved though." I say to Dad at just the right volume that only he can hear me, he looks to me with a disbelief filled expression stares into my eyes before nodding in agreement, "Maybe if you were in charge Alec, but not Hammond…I could never endorse a park he made." Dad mutters and I understand, neither could I, the man cheaped out on some of the most important areas that even most cut rate zoo's wouldn't just because of the liability of being sued if an animal escapes its enclosure and hurts or kills someone.
"I think that's a wonderful idea, so Mr Grant, how would you feel about becoming the head of operations for Jurassic Park?" John Hammond walks up to me, his showman mask cracked showing the sleazy money motivated man underneath.
Everyone, except Lex and I turn to look at Hammond like he is insane, Lex trembles as she walks closer to me and Rexy, she gets within inches of me before falling to her knees, and devolving into a mess.
Rexy totally of her own volition makes soft crooning noises and rubs her snout against Lex.
Grabbing Lex in a hug lifting her from the ground keeping one arm wrapped around her waist Lex stares at a completely different Rexy than the one from last night that seems both like it happened a hundred years ago and just last night like it actually happened all at once.
"She won't hurt you Lex, she's a big baby who just wants love who was locked away in a cage that hurt her every time she accidentally brushed against it." I murmur to Lex and that seems to do the trick as Lex's bodily tremors ease and her hands extend slowly towards Rexy with a very slight shake, as Lex's hands touch Rexy's snout Rexy softly croons and Lex giggles…her giggles only sound slightly unhinged.
"She's so warm." Is the first words out of Lex's mouth, even Muldoon seems to want to pet Rexy but everyone else is waiting patiently for Dad and Lex to finish.
'I'm honestly surprised Tim wasn't the first to be front and center.' I think and look at the boy who is just standing there in awe of what's happening.
"Mr Hammond the Copter is fueled and ready for take off, another storm front is moving in so we should leave now." The pilot that flew us here says.
"Right, everyone get to the chopper." Hammond says in a no nonsense sorta way.
Reluctantly I start walking away from Rexy with my left arm snugly wrapped around Lex's waist, I send Rexy mental reassurances that I will return soon and ask her to keep the other animals away from the visitor's center.
I hear Dad start talking to Hammond, "Mr. Hammond, I've decided not to endorse your Park…"
"After careful consideration, Dr. Grant, I have determined that my dream can never be realized if I am in control of it. Were you serious about giving a park operated by your son your endorsement?" Hammond asks.
"He'd be the only one I trust, and can see being successful…" Dad says back but I can tell he's not liking the idea at all regardless of what he said before.
"But I won't be the cause of him to loose Rexy like I was with Sarah, I doubt he'd ever forgive me for that…so if Jurassic Park falls solely under his purview as a separate entity from Ingen with Ingen paying for everything and I mean everything related to the park, his personal safety and well being especially in the legal sense…that is a park I will endorse." Dad answers and though he's reluctant he is trying to milk as many benefits for me as possible.
As we approach the helicopter, it's r
rotors whirl to life as the chopper waits on the landing, I believe then that this dream still has a chance to come to fruition.
The helicopter soars into the sky over where the Tyrannosaur is still standing Rexy looks up.
Throws her head back and roars, while waving her little forelimbs in the air impotently at the strange loud flying thing in frustration.
As the helicopter flies off, Rexy just stares, silently, with huge, yellow eyes filling with moisture…it's a moment of utter bewilderment for Rexy, that the disappearance of her human would hurt so much, but he promised he'd be back soon so even though she is sad she does as he asks and returns to the human's nest to protect it.
The End
How are people so confused about Cat Goddesses blessings? It's not immortality in the full sense of the word, throughout his normal lifespan, which granted being a Demigod with great healing, combined with Healer's Touch's auto heal function will probably reach 2-250 years, he is no way a true immortal, I'll even repost the description of the ability again.
[You gain the grace, speed and reflexes of a cat, regardless of what distance you fall from, you will land on your feet unharmed, you can climb anything, you have the enhanced senses of a cat, you gain nine lives, you can choose age and or customize your appearance upon your resurrection, these customizations are purely cosmetic, only a natural death caused by the effects of aging and or old age will not cause you to be resurrected.]
This ability basically only saves his ass from doing stupid shit that his base healing and Healer's Touch can't, so if he gets himself killed at ninety he can make himself look like any age he wants he'll still be fucking ninety years old, without an ability like Demigod or Healer's Touch or some other ability that can be used to boost him physically he'd be a feeble man child who is tied to a wheelchair, walker or whatever other fucking apparatus he needs to get around or survive. I don't understand what's so fucking complex about understanding this ability, yet I'm getting attacked over it at least four or five times a day.
