Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Descent of Cosmic Energy

In the memories that Zayden got from the future, it was around this time that the cosmic energy descended on Earth. Thankfully, none of his roommates turned into zombies, but they died regardless.

Their room was broken into by one of the zombies relatively easily, and Tyrel was killed without even knowing how, whereas Darian sacrificed himself to help Zayden escape. At that time, all Zayden could do was run for his life while shaking in fear.

But this time with memories of the future, he was going to change everything. He wouldn't let his friends die.

"Get ready," Zayden said as he jumped down from his bed, landing nimbly on the ground. Mustering up all his strength, he pushed the bed towards the door, blocking the door from being opened.

"What's the matter, Zayden? You're behaving very weirdly now," Tyrel said

Ignoring the question, he got Darian to stand up from his chair. Without explaining, he broke off the four legs of the chair, giving one to Darian and Tyrel while holding two in both hands. Now all three of them had crude weapons.

"What the hell are you doing, dude?" Tyrel said, "You're starting to scare me."

Darian looked at Zayden with a confused gaze but didn't say anything. "You'll understand soon enough," Zayden said.

'It should occur right about now,' Zayden thought, and almost immediately, something appeared in front of them, it was like a system tab in games, one on the irises of each person, with only one eerie word.

[Survive...]

Both Tyrel and Darian were confused, or more accurately, shocked to the bone. Tyrel, usually the outspoken one, was about to say something when suddenly he stopped moving entirely, his gaze staring into space.

Not just him, but every single person on the planet Earth was staring into space with a vacant gaze.

At this point, cars started crashing into each other as their drivers stopped driving entirely. Planes crashing into the ground. Explosions in every country on earth.

In that one moment, twenty percent of the entire world's population had died of an unnatural cause.

About five minutes later, everyone came back to their senses, but there was a subconscious feeling in their bodies. A feeling that Zayden knew very well.

"Cosmic energy had descended," Zayden said as he took in a deep breath. Even though his room was locked in every way possible, there was still cosmic energy in the room.

"You felt that, right?" Tyrel gave a weird gaze.

Any normal person at this point would be surprised, confused, or even scared, but Tyrel wasn't; there was a weird excitement on his face.

As for Darian, his gaze was indifferent, as if everything that had happened just now was unimportant to him.

"I feel... Stronger," Tyrel said as he clenched the metal bat in his hand and was surprised to see the outline of his hand on the metal bat.

"Status Open," Zayden said, and as if answering him, a blue screen appeared in front of him with his information on it.

[Name: Zayden Vega]

[Level: 1]

[EXP: 0/100]

[Rank: None]

[Contract: None]

[HP: 50/50]

[Stamina: 7]

[Strength: 5]

[Agility: 9]

[Ability Points: 0]

[Skills: None]

[Blessings: None]

His status was the same as it was in the future, just with one small difference: soul power.

To say he was happy was an understatement. With memories of twenty years into the future, he knew just how important soul power was in the future stages of the apocalypse.

At this point in his previous life, he didn't even have the stat for soul power. The fact that up to two thousand points in soul power now meant that something was happening behind the scenes.

Tyrel heard what Zayden said. He was suspicious. Up until now, Zayden had been acting strange, but the strangeness seemed to be with a purpose. So he did what Zayden did. "Status Open," he called out to the thin air, and a status screen like in games appeared in front of him with his stats that looked something like this.

[Name: Tyrel Cassian]

[Level: 1]

[EXP: 0/100]

[HP: 50/50]

[Rank: None]

[Contract: None]

[Energy: 50/50]

[Stamina: 9]

[Strength: 5]

[Agility: 11]

[Ability Points: 0]

"Guys, can you see this?" Tyrel said, pointing to the screen in front of him. But a look of confusion appeared on the face of Darian. "We can't see it, but you can tell us what it says," Zayden said.

"Sure," Tyrel said. He was about to start calling out his stats when another screen overlapped on his status screen. It was a quest screen, and this time, all three of them could see it.

[Quest Available]

[Part 1: Kill 10 Nulls

Reward: +9 ability points]

[Part 2: Escape the Male Dorm

Reward: Green Orb]

At this point, the reality had hit the people in the room. "We've entered a game," Tyrel said. Zayden was tempted to face slap and start explaining this to them. But he knew that it wasn't the time.

And just as he remembered, there was a loud banging on the door. It was very loud and heavy, to the point that the bed frame that Zayden placed against the door started shaking violently.

The people in the room could hear faint groaning sounds like rabid dogs on the other side of the door.

"Get ready, we'll be fighting for our lives in a few seconds," Zayden said. He didn't bother explaining, cause everyone in the room already knew that there was something dangerous on the other side of the door.

The bangs on the door grew louder until one especially strong bang sent the bed frame crashing through the glass window, while the door was broken off its hinges.

On the other side of the now broken-down door was one of their classmates, but something was weird. First of all, there was the fact that his eyes were sunken with the sclera black like the void. He had pale ash skin with what looked like cracked veins all across his body.

To make matters worse, it was not alone, it had two of the same creatures behind it. Their bodies were just as ugly as his. One of them was even limping and the bones in its feet were poking out.

Above their heads, their levels were displayed in red. And all three of them were at level one.

[Level 1 Withered Null]

Seeing their ugly appearance, Tyrel couldn't help but cringe. The ever-indifferent Darian had a disgusted expression on his face.

"What the hell is that?" Tyrel asked, "They are Nulls," Zayden said.d "There's no time to explain anything, we need to fight cause these guys will kill us," Zayden added

At that moment, one of the nulls launched itself at Tyrel, who was at the edge of the room, while the remaining two had their vacant gaze on the two in the room.

This was exactly what he remembered in his memories. They were too afraid to do anything, and Tyrel died. But now, with his knowledge of the future, Zayden was going to change things.
