Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: Is This Resident Evil?

As Vincent Tan kept flipping through the textbook,

he suddenly stopped when his eyes landed on a disturbing image of a grotesque creature.

His pupils shrank, and his whole body froze.

The image showed a red-skinned monster, its exposed muscle fibers stretching across its body like it had been skinned alive.

It crawled on all fours with massive, razor-sharp claws and a tongue that hung long from its gaping mouth

it looked like a grotesque, oversized frog.

Just one glance, and Vincent instantly recognized what it was…

A Licker.

Straight from Resident Evil.

"Wait… don't tell me… is Forbidden Zone No. 2 the Resident Evil universe?"

Vincent's mind reeled in disbelief.

At that moment, the short old man at the podium knocked on the desk and began speaking.

"Alright, don't get ahead of yourselves flipping through the textbook. Listen up."

"My name is Joe. From now on, I'll be the one teaching your Forbidden Zone curriculum."

"Before we dive into Zone No. 2, I want to give you some background on its world setting."

"Zone No. 2 was originally a peaceful world, until an unknown virus broke out infecting most of the global population.

Once infected, a person quickly loses all consciousness and becomes a mindless, flesh-craving monster.

What remains is a creature that knows only how to attack yes, I'm talking about zombies."

"Zombies will attack any living creature, tearing them apart to devour fresh meat."

"They feel no fear, don't retreat, and are hard to kill. No matter what part of their body you hit, they won't go down."

"Their only weakness is the brain."

"But don't panic. In Zone No. 2, the zombies are slow and unintelligent.

As long as you stay calm, keep your wits, and avoid getting surrounded, they're not actually that dangerous."

"Zone No. 2 is actually the second-safest zone, after Zone No. 1. It's a perfect starting ground for new trainees like you."

"Remember, the higher the zone number, the more dangerous the environment."

"Of course, there are other mutated creatures in Zone No. 2 that you'll need to watch out for."

"Now, everyone turn to page five in your textbook."

The students flipped to page five as instructed.

On the page was an image of a crow

except this one looked horribly unnatural.

Its body was half-decayed, its eyes were a dead, milky white, completely lacking pupils.

Just one glance was enough to send chills down your spine.

Professor Joe continued,

"Zombies aren't the real threat in Zone No. 2. The true danger… comes from infected animals."

"Many animals, after becoming infected, retain their basic instincts like this crow here.

It can still fly. And if you ever come across a whole flock of them… pray you make it out alive."

"There was a time, when Zone No. 2 first emerged, that the country sent in an elite special forces unit to explore.

They encountered a swarm of infected crows..."

"Out of thirty-two battle-hardened soldiers, only one managed to crawl out alive."

That line chilled the entire class.

Even the seasoned special forces were wiped out?

If students like them ran into the same thing… wasn't that a death sentence?

Professor Joe didn't bother to coddle their fears. He simply continued:

"Now turn to page seven."

On page seven was an image of a mutated zombie dog.

Its savage appearance alone was enough to terrify the more faint-hearted students.
