Chapter 8 - 07-The Fishing Mini-game.

"The scale on their body is very tough. You can only kill one after catching it."

Terry nodded. No point arguing with an expert.

"Why not right now?"

"Stupid... one Mo... er... I mean, one Ghorok is hard enough to defeat, you want to stir up the whole nest?"

"Oh..." Terry felt stupid to suggest that. Even in games he would not say something so stupid. He gave himself light taps on his cheeks and whispered, "Game Face On, Terry! Game Face On!"

Kiki rolled her eyes again at Terry's weird words and actions.

"So now we wait or lay a trap?" Terry asked.

"We lay a trap."

She knew the land, she knew the prey, and she knew the way. So she gets to decide what's next.

She showed what kind of trap it would be and how or where to place it.

But before that, they needed bait.

"Bait?"

She nodded.

"So we have to hunt something before we can hunt a Ghorok?"

She nodded again.

"Well, then you are the expert here, lead on."

She still couldn't get comfortable with the way Terry talks, too casual.

She led him in an opposite direction and found a lake.

"Fishing? I love fishing! I used to fish with my pops."

She wanted to ask what "pops" meant, but she didn't. Learning a madman's language will drive you mad too, she thought.

"Then I will leave you here while I go and prepare the trap."

That sounded logical, so he nodded. Kiki left to prepare the trap, and Terry was now alone. It was about to be dark, so he felt he needed to fish fast.

He didn't waste time at all. He knew what needed to be done. After acquiring the blueprint for the Bow, he knew how to trigger that.

He quickly made a fishing rod with vine and a hook out of a dried twig.

He had grubs for bait. He wasn't an expert on making a bow, but he knew everything about fishing, so he really made a very good, on-the-spot, hand-crafted fishing rod.

However, the trigger didn't activate.

Maybe it needed something else? However, he had no time to waste, so he decided to use this fishing rod for now.

The moment he threw the line in the water, it triggered.

Basic Fishing Rod Blueprint acquired.

"Hah. There it is."

He quickly opened the blueprint section. He had all the raw materials so he quickly crafted a new fishing rod.

The rod was clean and had texture for grip with a proper hook at the end for the grub to stick.

He quickly hooked a grub on it and threw it in the water.

The moment he did that, another mini-game triggered. A Fishing mini-game. It was showing if the spot he threw in was a good spot or not, based on the amount of time it would take to attract a fish.

The longer the amount meant the spot wasn't good. Terry pulled out and threw it in another place, and after some tries, he found a good spot with the shortest time.

After that, the timer shrunk to a phase where he needed to time it perfectly to catch the fish.

He didn't need that; his fishing intuition was good, so using both of them, he quickly caught a fish.

Throppa x1 Acquired.

"WHOA!" He was so happy to catch it, and that too very fast. The fish went straight to his inventory.

He looked at it in his inventory; it was a fat, round fish, looking very tasty to eat. He wanted to light a fire and eat it right now, but he held himself back.

He put the line back and resumed fishing.

He got into a rhythm. It was like the most satisfying fishing mini-game he'd ever played. One after another, fish started piling up in his inventory.

Nalloopi, Splinkoo, Gobullu. What weird names, he didn't recognize any of them. But he didn't feel tired at all; he almost forgot why he was doing this.

"Still trying?" Kiki returned.

"Oh... you are back..."

"Want me to help?"

"For what? Catching fish? Already done."

"Done?" Kiki looked around. The surroundings were empty. "Where is the fish?"

"Oh... in my inventory."

She rolled her eyes, "Another stupid weird word."

Feeling she wanted proof, he pulled out the biggest one.

"Gobullu? You caught a Gobullu?" She was surprised.

"Yes... why? Is it that hard to catch these ones?"

She wanted to nod, but for some reason she did not want to as she squinted at Terry.

"What?"

"Nothing... Hmph!" She turned her face away.

"Is that good for bait?"

"No... we need more, but we cannot use Gobullu."

"Oh... bad fish... fine, I have these too." Terry dumped his inventory on the ground.

His eyes went wide with shock. Terry was not able to see it due to the side mask.

"I guess, we need more, right?"

"Ahem... just... cough... just remove the Gobullu, and we can use the rest."

"So that would be enough for bait?"

She nodded.

He put all the fish back into his inventory.

"What are you doing?"

"What? You want to physically carry this much fish to the Trap?"

"Ahem... I mean... right... let's go to the place I have found for a good trap."

They quickly reached the place. It looked normal, but even Terry could tell something was wrong with the land. It was too clean or smooth.

"It's quicksand." She pointed it out.

"You found quicksand? Lucky."

"No... Mo... I mean, Ghorok would not fall for the quicksand; they are not that stupid. They have weak eyesight but a strong sense of smell. We need to take advantage of that."

"Then?"

"We are going to use this quicksand as a warning and dig a hole nearby, at least three." She showed the path from where a Ghorok would come.

"So from this path, it will avoid the quicksand but will be tempted to get the fish spread all over it. It has a long tongue; it will stay at the edge and try to use its long reach to steal it to avoid the quicksand."
