Chapter 5 - Homeroom

Chapter 5: Homeroom

~~~~~
The next day dawned bright and clear, the sun shining down on the city of Musutafu. I awoke feeling refreshed and energized, ready to start the day.
"Today is the real first day of school, how exciting" I said lazily, making a small effort to get out of bed.
As I finally rolled out of bed, I stretched my arms and legs, feeling a bit stiff from sleeping. The thought of my first real day of classes at U.A. High School filled me with a mix of excitement and trepidation. I had no idea what to expect, but I was determined to make the most of it.
I checked my schedule, noting the various classes I had for the day. English, Modern Literature, Heroics, Lunch, and Foundational Hero Studies seemed like a good mix of subjects. I was particularly interested in the Heroics class, as it would no doubt be an important part of my training to become a hero.
The early morning air was crisp and cool as I set out on my run. The streets were still relatively quiet, with only a few people up and about. The rhythmic sound of my footsteps echoed off the pavement as I ran, and I felt my heart rate start to pick up.
As I ran, the world around me began to wake up. The sun rose higher in the sky, casting a golden glow over the city. The sound of cars and buses started to fill the air, and more people began to make their way to work or school. Despite the noise, I felt a sense of peace and tranquility as I continued my run.
I glanced at my phone and saw that it was now 6:15 AM. I had been running for about an hour and a half, and I was starting to feel the burn in my legs. The sun was now fully up, casting a warm light over the city as the morning rush hour began in earnest.
I picked up the pace, my legs now aching from the effort of the run. The houses and buildings whizzed by in a blur as I pushed myself to keep going, my breath coming in ragged gasps.
Finally, I reached my home, panting and out of breath. I stumbled through the front door, leaning against the wall for support as I tried to catch my breath. My heart was pounding in my chest, and my legs felt like jelly.
I stripped off my sweaty clothes and stepped into the shower, letting the hot water wash over me. The steamy air was a welcome relief from the chill of the morning air, and I felt myself starting to relax as the water cascaded over my body.
After a few minutes under the hot water, I finally felt clean and refreshed. I stepped out of the shower, grabbing a towel and drying myself off. I wrapped the towel around my waist and walked over to the bedroom to get dressed.
The school uniform was crisp and neat, freshly ironed and ready to be worn. I quickly put it on, making sure everything was in place. The white shirt, black pants, and red tie were all standard issue, but I felt a sense of pride and excitement as I put them on. I was about to start my journey as a hero-in-training, and this uniform was a symbol of that.
As I checked my phone, I saw a message from Hikari. It was a simple "Good morning" with a smiley face, but it made my heart skip a beat. There were also messages from Midoriya, Ochako, and Iida, all wishing me a good day and reminding me of the classes we had today.
I quickly typed out replies to each of them, expressing my gratitude and excitement for the day ahead. As I hit send, I couldn't help but smile at the thought of seeing my new friends again.
I glanced at my phone again and saw that it was now 7:15 AM. I had just enough time to grab a quick breakfast before heading to school.
I hurried down to the kitchen, grabbing a slice of toast and a cup of tea to go. I scarfed down the toast as quickly as possible, knowing I had to leave soon if I didn't want to be late for class. Yuuei had a strict no tardy policy, and classes started at 8:25 AM.
As I finished my tea, I grabbed my backpack and made my way to the front door. I double-checked that I had everything I needed, and then stepped outside, locking the door behind me.
The sun was now shining brightly, and the streets were alive with activity. I began walking to Yuuei High School, my mind racing with thoughts of what the day would bring.
As I walked, I passed by other students heading to school. Some were chatting with friends, while others looked lost in thought. I couldn't help but feel a sense of camaraderie with these other students, knowing that they were all on the same journey as me. The sight of Yuuei High School in the distance filled me with excitement and anticipation.
Finally, I arrived at the gates of Yuuei High School. The school loomed over me, a towering structure of brick and glass. Students were already milling about on the grounds, chatting and laughing as they waited for classes to start.
I joined the throng of students, weaving my way through the crowd. I spotted familiar faces as I walked, nodding in greeting to those I knew and giving a friendly wave to those I didn't. The excitement and energy of the school was infectious, and I found myself getting caught up in it as well.
I found my way to the classroom and took my seat. The room was filled with chatter and noise as students caught up with each other after the summer break. I noticed that Aizawa was already there, sitting at his desk and looking over some papers.
Aizawa looked up as I took my seat, giving me a brief nod of acknowledgement. He seemed as grumpy and tired as ever, but there was a hint of warmth in his eyes that belied his usual gruff demeanor.
As the rest of the class filed in, Aizawa cleared his throat and stood up from his desk. The chatter immediately died down as everyone turned to face him.
Aizawa looked around the room, making sure everyone was present and paying attention. He checked his watch, then looked back up at the class.
"Okay, let's get started," he said, his voice low and gravelly as usual.
Aizawa leaned against the desk, his arms crossed over his chest.
"As you all know, we've got a lot of ground to cover this year. The training will be tougher than ever, and I expect each and every one of you to give it your all."
Aizawa's gaze swept across the room, his eyes lingering on a few students who seemed less than enthused about the upcoming training. He raised an eyebrow, his expression unamused.
"Don't think for a second that just because it's your first year here, I'll go easy on you. You're all going to be pushed to your limits, and some of you might even break under the pressure."
He let out a sigh, his eyes narrowing slightly as he continued to survey the class.
"But if you put in the effort and work hard, you'll come out of this a better hero than you were before. That's what I expect from each and every one of you."
He paused for a moment, letting his words sink in. Then, he nodded slightly.
"Now, before we get started with the day's classes, I have one more thing to say."
Both the class and I waited with bated breath, wondering what Aizawa was about to say next.
Aizawa looked directly at me, his expression serious.
"Haruto Narikawa, come up here."
'Oh shit! I haven't done anything wrong, I've been good. I swear, your honor!'
I stood up from my seat and made my way up towards the front of the classroom.
Aizawa gestured for me to stand beside him at the front of the room. He then turned to face the rest of the class, his arms still crossed over his chest.
"Everyone, I want you to pay attention. This is important."
The class fell silent, their eyes fixed on Aizawa and I. The tension in the room was palpable as they waited to see what was going on.
Aizawa glanced at me again, then addressed the class.
"Haruto here has a very special ability. He possesses the rare and powerful quirk of Psychokinesis."
I nodded and made myself levitate, a golden energy surrounded me.
Gasps of surprise and awe filled the room as I levitated. The golden energy that surrounded me was mesmerizing, and everyone in the class was captivated by my display of power.
Aizawa watched me with a critical eye, nodding slightly in approval as I showed off my abilities. The class was completely silent, still in shock from the unexpected display of power.
"Yesterday, during the quirk apprehension tests you may remember me using a lot of shockwave-like bursts and increased strength." I announced.
The class nodded in agreement, recalling the impressive display of strength and control my had shown during the tests.
"I have fine control over my quirk and it's very versatile. There are many things I can do." I looked at Aizawa, wanting him to tell both everyone and I, why he wanted me up here.
Aizawa nodded, understanding my unspoken question. He then spoke up, his voice firm and commanding.
"That's right. Haruto's quirk is very powerful, and it has a wide range of applications. Not only can he manipulate objects with his mind, but he can also generate shockwaves and enhance his physical abilities. The possibilities are practically limitless."
"The shockwaves are from my psychic energy, there were also energy bursts. It's very dangerous and I've trained to have such fine control in order to not feel the recoil."
Aizawa raised an eyebrow at my statement about the recoil.
"Recoil, you say? Care to explain that?"
"Midoriya's quirk during the Entrance Exam and during the Ball Throw. Similarly, I had to train in order to make my body adapt to the recoil of strength of the shockwaves, energy bursts, and sudden increase in my muscle strength."
(A/N: This is actually true, not something I just made up. The recoil of these things can be intense which is why for any psychic ability, fine control is needed.)
Aizawa listened intently, nodding in understanding. He was clearly impressed by my dedication and training to control my quirk.
"I see. You've put a lot of effort into mastering your abilities. That's good."
I nodded before Aizawa suddenly turned back to the class, addressing them once more.
"Now, you all should take note of what Haruto has to say. Power and control are both important in a hero. Having a strong quirk without control is useless, and vice versa. Haruto has proven that he has both."
The class murmured in agreement, clearly impressed by my display of power and control. Many of them looked at me with a mixture of respect and envy, realizing just how much work and effort I had put into mastering my quirk.
Kai looked up at me with a smile on her face. Her eyes were sparkling with admiration and a hint of playfulness.
Kai gave me a thumbs up and mouthed the words "You're awesome.
"Is that it, Aizawa?" I asked, knowing homeroom would end soon. Only about 8 minutes had passed since it was 8:25 AM.
Aizawa nodded.
"Yes, that's all. You can return to your seat now."
I walked back to my seat, the rest of the class still whispering amongst themselves about my display of power. Kai was practically beaming with excitement, clearly eager to talk to me about my quirk again.
I checked my phone, noticing that it was almost time for the bell to ring. The anticipation of the upcoming break was palpable, and the students began to pack up their things in preparation for the end of class.
The bell rang, signaling the end of homeroom and the start of the first class of the day. The door to the classroom opened, and Present Mic, the teacher for English, walked in with his usual flamboyant flair.
Present Mic took his place at the front of the room, grinning widely as he surveyed the class. He was clearly excited to be teaching English, and he began the class with his usual enthusiasm.
"Good morning, students! Ready to learn some English?"
(A/N: I tried to follow this and follow the teachers roles in the actual wiki fandom as best as possible. I know English is taught first as showed in Episode 6 of Season 1.
