Chapter 10: Reporters

Chapter 10: Reporters and Elections

~~~~~
Haruto and Hikari walked side by side, heading towards Yuuei High School. The sun was shining brightly in the sky, and the air was filled with the sounds of birds chirping and cars passing by. As they walked, they chatted about random things, enjoying each other's company and the beautiful day.
Haruto groaned as he saw the horde of reporters outside the gates, taking pictures and shouting questions at any students who passed by. It was a chaotic scene, with camera flashes and microphones being shoved in people's faces. He could feel a headache coming on just from looking at it all.
The reporters were all clamoring for a statement from All Might, trying to get any information they could about his new role as a teacher at U.A. The school staff had been doing their best to keep the media at bay, but it was clear that they were overwhelmed by the sheer number of reporters.
As the duo tried to make their way through the crowd, a reporter noticed them and shoved a microphone in their faces.
"Excuse me! Are you both students at U.A.?"
"We are, why?" Haruto said, wanting to use this as a chance for some public brownie points. 'Let's anger some people, shall we?'
The reporter smiled, her eyes lighting up with interest.
"Perfect! Can I ask you a few questions about All Might?"
"Can I ask who you are first?"
The reporter chuckled, seemingly amused by his response.
"I'm a reporter from Japan Today. Now, about All Might…"
Haruto nodded, internally knowing this was going to be amusing.
The reporter's smile widened as she realized that he was willing to answer her questions.
"What do you think about All Might becoming a teacher at U.A.?"
"I think it's amazing. The Number One Hero passing down his experience, knowledge, and philosophy to the next generation."
The reporter nodded enthusiastically, scribbling down Haruto's response in her notebook.
"That's a very positive response! Can you tell me anything about All Might's teaching style? Any juicy details about what he's like in the classroom?"
"He's the same great guy he is on the scene. He's a genuinely great guy and an even better teacher." I took a breath before continuing. "All Might knows he can't work forever and has decided to take the first step into his retirement by teaching others to be just like him, or so I would like to think."
The reporter raised an eyebrow, impressed by his insightful answer.
"Wow, that's quite a compliment. Do you have any idea what his teaching philosophy is? Any specific techniques or methods he uses in the classroom?"
"I have four parts to the first question, Miss Reporter."
The reporter chuckled, intrigued by Haruto's use of her title.
"Go ahead, I'm all ears."
"All Might's teaching philosophy is based on the idea of passing on his legacy and empowering the next generation of heroes."
The reporter jotted down his response, nodding along as she listened intently.
"That makes sense, considering his status as the Symbol of Peace. And what about his teaching methods? Any standout techniques or strategies?"
"He believes that the best way to create a better world is to instill hope and inspiration in young people, and to give them the tools and guidance they need to become heroes who can make a positive impact on society." Haruto continued.
The reporter smiled, clearly impressed by All Might's approach.
"That's a very inspiring and forward-thinking philosophy. It's clear that he cares deeply about his students and the future of hero society. Do you agree with him?"
"I do, All Might emphasizes the importance of hard work, determination, and a strong sense of justice in his teachings. He encourages his students to push their limits and strive for excellence, while also reminding them that being a hero is not just about power or strength, but also about protecting and helping others."
The reporter nodded, her eyes shining with admiration for All Might's teaching methods.
"That's a powerful message. It's clear that he has a lot of experience and wisdom to share with his students. Do you think he has made a difference in your life, as a student at U.A.?"
"I do believe he has made a difference as a student at U.A.! He believes that it is his duty as a symbol of peace to guide and mentor the next generation of heroes, and he takes his role as a teacher very seriously. "
The reporter looked at Haruto with a mix of curiosity and respect.
"You speak very highly of All Might. It's clear that you have a lot of faith in him as both a hero and a teacher. Do you have any personal experiences with him that have impacted your life?"
"Except for one class together in which he taught us, no. But, I do know he is committed to ensuring that his students have the skills, knowledge, and values necessary to become true heroes who can uphold justice and protect society."
The reporter nodded, taking in Haruto's words.
"I see. So you're confident that All Might is doing everything he can to prepare his students for the real world, and to make them into the best heroes they can be?"
"Yeah, I do." Haruto gave her and the camera a gentle smile.
The reporter blushed slightly at the sight of his smile, clearly taken by his charm. She quickly composed herself, trying to remain professional.
"Well, that's quite a vote of confidence. Thank you for your insight, young man."
"Of course, no problem." I ran my hand through my blonde hair as I took a deep breath.
The reporter's eyes followed the movement of his hand, watching as Haruto's fingers ran through his blonde locks. She couldn't help but notice how handsome he looked, with his golden eyes and chiseled features.
"So, tell me, how has your time at U.A. been so far? Any exciting experiences or challenges you've faced?"
"So far from battle training with my classmates and training after school, no. But I'm completely sure there is more to come during the year."
The reporter nodded, jotting down a few more notes before looking up at Haruto again.
"Battle training, huh? Sounds intense. What kind of training do you and your classmates do outside of school?"
"Everyone does something specific, so it's hard to say. Some of us work on bulk, flexibility, quirk, or even knowledge."
The reporter raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued by the idea of different types of training.
"Fascinating. It sounds like you and your classmates have a well-rounded approach to hero training. What do you personally focus on during your training sessions?"
"I work on my control, flexibility, and strength. I also study heroism and how our society has used it to get to where we are now."
The reporter was impressed by Haruto's dedication to his training and studies.
"That's quite the comprehensive training regimen. Working on your control and strength is essential for any hero, but studying the history of heroism is an interesting addition. What specifically about the history of heroism interests you?"
"Because, as a society we are still behind other countries in some aspects."
The reporter nodded in agreement, her expression becoming more serious.
"Yes, that's true. We may be the number one country in terms of hero activity, but there are still things we can learn from other countries and improve upon. That's why studying the history of heroism is so important."
"We have no training for children who awaken their quirks and when it finally comes to being able to use them, they have no control. There's also no guarantee that they won't lose control one day before then. They might end up hurting someone, that's why I study heroism. You don't have to be a hero to do something heroic."
The reporter was taken aback by Haruto's insightful and empathetic response. She had never thought about the implications of not having proper training for children with quirks, or the potential dangers of losing control.
"That's a very important point. Not only for heroes, but for everyone in society. It's essential to have systems in place to help children with quirks control their abilities and prevent accidents from happening."
"There's a reason some people or even kids become villains. People get discriminated against for a quirk they were born with, that's the same as bullying someone for their skin color."
The reporter's expression softened, clearly moved by his words.
"You're absolutely right. Quirk discrimination is a huge problem in our society, and it's a major contributor to the rise of villainy. If we want to create a more just and peaceful society, we need to address these issues head-on."
"That's why I became a hero student and want to become a hero. I may have not gone through what people with mutation quirks go through, but I have classmates who have." Haruto said before taking a deep breath and continuing. "As long as someone can still smile, there will always be hope for a better future. That's what I hope to do and become a hero to everyone."
The reporter was visibly touched by his sincere and noble intentions. Her eyes sparkled with admiration as she looked at Haruto, clearly impressed by his resolve and determination.
"You're incredibly inspiring, you know that? I can tell that you have a true hero's heart."
"I would love to continue but I'm still a student and I have to get to class. Have a good day, Miss Reporter from Japan Today."
Haruto bowed and moved towards the school gates with Hikari who was silent during that entire interaction.
The reporter waved goodbye to Haruto, still smiling from his words.
"Thank you for your time, and have a great day as well!"
The sight of the person with light blue hair caught Haruto's attention as he walked, and Haruto couldn't help but recognize who they were. He seemed to be watching Haruto intently, his gaze fixated on Hikari and Haruto.
3rd Perspective
Shigaraki's eyes followed Haruto's as he walked towards the school gates, a mix of curiosity and annoyance on his face. He was intrigued by Haruto's conversation with the reporter, and the way Haruto carried himself with such confidence. Shigaraki clenched his fists, a sense of irritation building inside him.
As Haruto disappeared into the school, Shigaraki's gaze lingered for a moment before he let out a frustrated sigh. He had been observing Haruto from afar for a while now, intrigued by his potential and power. He knew that Haruto was someone to keep an eye on, and that his rise as a hero could pose a threat to his plans.
As he continued to watch the school, Shigaraki's thoughts began to wander. He wondered what kind of power Haruto truly possessed, and what it would take to get him on his side. The thought of recruiting Haruto into the League of Villains crossed his mind, but he quickly dismissed it. Haruto was a hero student, after all, and seemed to have a strong sense of justice and morality. He knew that it would be difficult to turn Haruto to his cause.
Despite the challenges, Shigaraki couldn't help but feel a strange sense of excitement at the prospect of challenging Haruto. He had a feeling that Haruto's potential would only grow as he continued his hero training, and he wanted to be there to witness Haruto's growth. He would keep a close eye on Haruto, biding his time until the right moment to make his move.
~~~~~

How was the interaction between the MC and the reporter? I tried to align some of the ideals I had about the MHA society. Even at the ending of MHA some of my ideals and goals were done.

Ochako ended up creating a Quirk Counseling group for children to stop the repeat of people turning to villainy. For example: Toga, All for One, or even Shigaraki.

There are many other things I have planned. But get ready, soon it will be time for the first meeting between the hero students and the League of Villains.

Also, what do you think about Shigaraki actually watching Haruto, the mc, for a while? There's no way All for One or any smart villain who's able to get information would just let an American student visit and live in Japan with a strong quirk like Psychokinesis.

This was a shorter chapter but I wanted it to just focus on the Reporter and Shigaraki. The next chapter will be the events later that day.
