Chapter 11: Elections
~~~~~
*Haruto's Perspective*
I walked into the classroom and took my seat, my mind still replaying the conversation with the reporter. As I sat down, I noticed Aizawa standing at the front of the room, his usual bored expression on his face.
Aizawa looked around the classroom, his gaze lingering on me for a moment before he began to speak.
"Good morning, everyone. Let's get started."
Aizawa-sensei cleared his throat, drawing the attention of the entire class.
"Alright, listen up. I have an announcement to make."
The room fell silent as all eyes turned towards Aizawa. We were all curious about what he had to say, and a sense of anticipation filled the air.
Aizawa-sensei looked around the room, making sure everyone was paying attention.
"As you all know, it's time to choose a class representative. This is an important role, and whoever gets it will be representing the entire class. So take it seriously."
The room buzzed with excitement and anticipation at the mention of choosing a class representative. Students began to look around the room, silently sizing up their potential rivals for the position.
Aizawa-sensei let out another sigh, clearly annoyed by the murmuring.
"Quiet down, all of you."
Aizawa's voice cut through the noise, his expression growing more stern. The class immediately fell silent again, all eyes on him once more.
Aizawa nodded, satisfied that the class had quieted down. He then continued speaking.
"There will be an election. Each of you will have a chance to cast a vote for who you want to be your representative. The person with the most votes will become the class representative, and the person with the second-most votes will become the vice-representative."
As Aizawa explained the voting process, the students began to whisper amongst themselves, already discussing who they planned to vote for.
I looked at Hikari, wondering who she would vote for. Hikari caught my gaze and raised an eyebrow, silently asking if I had someone in mind for the class representative position.
In response I shook my head, unsure of who I wanted to vote for other than myself.
Hikari nodded in understanding, sharing my indecision. She leaned back in her chair and looked around the room, studying the other students to see who seemed the most qualified for the role.
"Who actually wants to be responsible for everyone here?" I asked the my classmates of Class 1-A. I knew most of them wouldn't want to deal with the responsibilities.
Hikari chuckled softly at my question, clearly agreeing with my sentiment. She then leaned forward, lowering her voice to a whisper.
"Yeah, being class representative would be a pain in the ass."
I chuckled and looked around the class at my classmates, wondering who would speak up to my question.
Some of the students nodded in agreement with my question, while others simply shrugged or looked away, clearly not interested in taking on the extra responsibility. The room was filled with a mix of reluctance and resignation.
"Everyone who wants to be Class Rep with that in mind, raise your hand." I raised my hand. I wanted to become Class Representative since it would give me extra protection and a higher standing.
Several other students also raised their hands, looking determined to take on the role of class representative. The room was now filled with a mix of excitement and nervousness, as the candidates began to size each other up.
"Is this everyone who wants to be Class Representative even knowing the extra responsibility you will hold?"
One of the students who raised their hand spoke up, a smug grin on their face.
"Hey, I'm willing to do whatever it takes to lead this class. I'm the obvious choice for the job, after all."
"Let's all introduce ourselves then and explain why we want to be Class Representative." I looked at the rest of Class 1-A and ignored him.
There were some murmurs of agreement, and the class fell silent again as they waited for the first person to speak.
Hikari sat beside me, her eyes scanning the room as she waited for someone to speak up. She looked as eager as ever to get this class rep business started.
Finally, one of the students stood up and cleared their throat, ready to make their case for being class representative.
The student who stood up was Izuku Midoriya, our class' resident "nerd" and secret All Might fanboy. He had a nervous expression on his face, but he still managed to speak up.
This bitch fuck still hasn't given me my order of fries, fucking double dick sucking, no father having, had to get a wuirk passed on, lost said quirk, never pulled a bitch havin, cock sucker.
(A/N: That was a joke, hahahahhahah (insert sarcastic laughter track) bye bye)
Midoriya took a deep breath before beginning to speak, his voice shaking slightly but he had some confidence from our last talk.
"I... I want to be class representative because... I think I could do a good job. I'm responsible and hardworking, and I care about all of my classmates. I would do my best to make sure everyone's needs are met and that the class runs smoothly."
The class listened to Midoriya's speech, some nodding in agreement while others looked skeptical. Hikari, in particular, seemed to be scrutinizing him closely.
He has a good heart but he's way too weak and scared of confrontation. One of the worst choices for Class Rep. He's better than an egotistical tyrant Bakugo though.
Midoriya finished speaking and took his seat, looking relieved that he had made it through his speech without stuttering too much. The room was quiet for a moment, as the other students processed what he had said.
The next student to stand up was Katsuki Bakugo, who had an arrogant expression on his face. He crossed his arms and looked around the room, as if daring anyone to question his decision to run for class rep.
Katsuki smirked as he spoke, clearly confident in his abilities.
"I'm going to be class representative because I'm the strongest one here. I'll be the best leader this class has ever had, and you'd all better be grateful for it."
A few students rolled their eyes at Katsuki's overconfident speech, but he ignored them. Hikari, in particular, looked unimpressed by his arrogance, rolling her eyes as well.
Katsuki finished his speech and sat back down, still smirking. The rest of the class seemed to be waiting for the next person to speak up, some clearly wanting to say something to counter Katsuki's arrogance.
Did he really think that was going to get him any votes? This is why you never pulled any bitches, Bakugo.
The next person to stand up was Tenya Iida, who had a determined look on his face. He adjusted his glasses and cleared his throat before speaking.
"I want to be class representative because it is my duty as a student to help lead and guide my peers. As the class president, I will strive to uphold the values of our school and ensure that all students are treated with respect and fairness."
Iida's speech was met with nods of approval from some of the class, and a few students even applauded him. Hikari gave him a thumbs up, clearly impressed by his leadership qualities.
Iida smiled at the applause, clearly feeling encouraged by the response. He took his seat, looking pleased with himself.
The next person to stand up was Uraraka, who was looking nervous but determined. She fidgeted with her hands as she spoke, trying to project confidence.
"I want to be class representative because... because I want to help people. I know that being class rep means I'll have to take on responsibilities and be a leader, but I think I can do it. I want to make a difference and help my classmates in any way I can."
Uraraka's speech was met with supportive murmurs from the class. Hikari gave her a reassuring smile, and a few other students nodded in agreement with her words.
A few more students stood up to speak, each one making their case for why they should be class representative. There were a mix of reasons - some wanted to help others, some wanted the responsibility, and some simply wanted the extra attention that came with being class rep.
There was a pause as the class waited for someone else to stand up, but no one else seemed to want to volunteer. It appeared that the pool of potential class reps had been exhausted.
I stood up. "It's my turn then."
The class turned their attention to me as I stood up, some looking curious to hear my reasons for wanting to be class rep.
"The reason why I want to be the class representative is very simple. The class needs to be run efficiently and orderly. So, not just anyone can be the class representative. We all have needs, right?" I said with confidence, I took a breath before continuing. "So I will do this by helping out everyone and even accepting help when it comes to certain things."
The class nodded in agreement, some of them looking impressed by my statement. Hikari was nodding along with the others, clearly supportive of my reasoning.
"We all need help in different ways, whether it comes to studying, training, or even mental health. Yes, we may have teachers to help us with these aspects, but we also have each other. We're going to be classmates for the rest of our lives here in Yuuei, we need to be able to understand and trust each other." I continued my speech.
The room was silent as I spoke, the class hanging on my every word. They could see the sincerity in my eyes and hear the passion in my voice. Hikari was smiling slightly, obviously enjoying the speech.
"That's why I want to become class representative. I don't want any of us suffering or feeling like they're being left behind in any way, shape, or form. We're all going to be together for the rest of this year and the two years after that. We need to be able to get along and coexist, that is why I want to be Class Rep." I finished my presidential speech.
There was a lot I could have mentioned to gain support and I would be telling the truth. But that would take up too much time to mention, so vague words are the best way to go.
There was a round of applause from the class as I finished speaking, everyone clearly impressed by my passionate speech. Hikari was the first to stand up and give me a high-five, grinning from ear to ear.
I returned the high-five to Hikari as I sat down.
As I sat down, Aizawa stood up from his desk and addressed the class.
"Well, it seems we've found our class rep. Everyone, let's give a warm welcome to our new class representative."
"Wait, shouldn't we vote first?" I interrupted Aizawa, I wasn't just going to take the role like that.
Aizawa raised an eyebrow at my question, clearly surprised by it.
"Vote? What do you mean?"
"The whole point is for everyone to vote. Even if everyone applauded doesn't mean that I'm ready in their mind. This is an election, just because someone can give a good speech doesn't mean they win it." I made an excuse.
Aizawa chuckled slightly, amused by my statement/excuse.
"Fair point. We'll hold a vote then. All those in favor of Haruto Narikawa being the class representative, raise your hand."
Most of the class raised their hands, some more enthusiastically than others. Hikari, of course, was one of the first to raise her hand, looking proud of me. Iida, Uraraka, and Midoriya were also quick to vote for me, along with a few other students. Among those other students were Kirishima, Mina, Momo, and some others.
Aizawa waited for everyone to finish voting before speaking again.
"Looks like you've got the class's approval. Congratulations, Haruto."
"Now it's time for everyone to vote for Deputy Class Representative, everyone." I said as my role as Class Representative was solidified, my perfect victory.
Class 1-A looked around at each other, waiting for someone else to volunteer to be deputy rep. They weren't stupid, they just didn't want to be the first to raise their hands.
"We can do the same thing and vote for people's speeches for Deputy rep." I announced, seeing as they all just stared at each other.
Aizawa nodded in agreement.
"Sounds good. I'll give you all five minutes to decide on a deputy rep. Use this time wisely."
The five minutes passed quickly as the class discussed amongst themselves who should be the deputy rep. A few students made suggestions, but most seemed to have their mind set on a specific person already.
The five minutes ended and Aizawa spoke up again.
"Times up. Has everyone made their decision?"
The class nodded in agreement, all seeming to have made up their minds.
Aizawa turned to the class.
"Alright then. Who's your choice for deputy class rep?"
The class stayed silent for a moment, the tension building as they waited for someone to speak up. Finally, Hikari broke the silence and spoke up.
"I vote for Uraraka as deputy rep."
Uraraka's eyes widened in surprise as she heard her name. She hadn't expected to be picked as deputy rep, but she looked grateful for the vote of confidence.
"R-really? You all think I'd be a good deputy rep?"
The class nodded in agreement, smiling at her.
"Definitely," Midoriya chimed in.
I was surprised since Momo was the original vice rep. in the anime. But then again, she never gave her speech in the battle trials.
While, Ochako gave an amazing speech. She was probably a close second in this universe atleast.
That's why I did this voting, we had to show others who we were and what we wanted. We still haven't gotten to fully know each other, this was still our first week.
Aizawa looked pleased with the selection.
"Alright then. Uraraka will be the deputy class rep. Congratulations, you two."
"I will do my best to live up to everyone's expectations and hopefully surpass them." I said as I stood in the front of the class with Ochako. I gave my classmates a gentle smile.
The class clapped for the two of us, looking excited for the year ahead with us two as their representatives.
Aizawa watched the scene with a satisfied look on his face, clearly pleased with how the class was getting along. He then turned to the rest of the class.
"Alright, now that that's settled, we can move on to the rest of the day's schedule."
I may have went a bit wild on the next chapter. When it does come out, let me know what you think about it.
Also, what's your opinion on the speech I made for the MC?
How was Uraraka's speech and the others?
How does Uraraka being deputy class rep and how do you think it will change the universe of MHA?
