Chapter 16 Reunion.
After several seconds of silence, Charlotte Walker took a deep breath and softly said, "Okay, I understand!"
With that, she hung up the phone.
"What happened?" The other members of the Walker family turned to look at Charlotte.
"Billy Bruno is dead!" Charlotte replied coldly.
"This... With Billy Bruno dead, the outside world will surely claim that the Walker family is behind it. There's no way to clear our name now..." The elder of the Walker family sighed, his gaze toward Onyx filled with hostility once again. If it weren't for this woman, they wouldn't be in this mess!
"Chasel Mills really knows how to play the game. It seems that five years in prison has changed him—he's become even more dangerous!" Charlotte's beautiful eyes seemed to reflect a shadow as she spoke in a low voice. Five years ago, Chasel Mills was merely clever. Five years later, he had become ruthless enough to use lives as pawns.
"If I'm not mistaken, there will soon be online trolls trying to link Billy Bruno's death to the Walker family. But do they really think this will threaten me?"
Charlotte stood up, her alluring figure resembling a masterpiece crafted by the creator, yet her face was filled with a chilling coldness.
As Chasel Mills stepped out of the Grand Hotel, he noticed a Hummer parked below—none other than the one driven by Suzaku last night. However, this time, the young man sitting in the driver's seat was the same one who had threatened the bald guy with a gun.
Seeing Chasel and Suzaku emerge, the young man in black quickly got out ofthe vehicle, standing tall and straight. His face was lit up with barely contained excitement. Under normal circumstances, he would never have had the chance to get this close to Aurelian. It was a tremendous honor!
Chasel Mills smiled and nodded at him, which only made the young man even more thrilled.
"What's your name?" Chasel asked.
"Reporting to Aurelian, I'm Xane, the deputy captain of the first team under Suzaku, also known as Reed. Report complete!" Xane said, a mix of nervousness and excitement in his voice"Xane, Reed!" Chasel Mills pondered the name for a moment before nodding. "Good job, keep it up!"
"Yes, sir!" Xane's heart soared, and his excitement was evident on his face.
"In the future, if I'm not around, the safety of Michelle Allen and her daughter will be in your hands!"
Chasel Mills smiled as he patted Xane on the shoulder before hopping into the car.
"I guarantee I'll get the job done!"
Xane's expression turned serious. It was a great honor for him to be responsible for protecting Aurelian's family.
At the same time, it was a heavy responsibility!
Just then, Suzaku approached, her confident face adorned with a satisfied smile. "Good job! Aurelian will remember your name."
In response to Suzaku, Xane offered a shy smile.
"Look into the Walker family's recent business plans. Since we've already given a gift, it's time for a proper one!"
In the backseat of the Hummer, Chasel Mills spoke to Suzaku, who was in thepassenger seat.
"Understood!" Suzaku replied.
A moment later, she turned to Aurelian, who might not have been conventionally handsome but radiated an unmatched charm. "Aurelian, the Walker family is nothing but an ant beneath your feet. With just a word from you, they could fall into an abyss from which they could never return. Even if you don't want to use your influence, I could easily crush the Walker family in Verdant City. Why do you want to get involved personally? They don't deserve that!"
Chasel Mills shook his head with a smile."I could easily wipe out the Walker family, but wouldn't that take away a lot of the fun? Since Charlotte Walker values the Walker family so much, I want to destroy her hard work step by step, like a cat playing with a mouse, making her despair little by little. Doesn't that sound much more entertaining?"
Upon hearing this, Suzaku instantly understood.
This was our Aurelian.
The undefeated legend who struck fear into his enemies, leaving them gritting their teeth in frustration yet utterly helpless—Aurelian Mills! As Chasel Mills stepped out of the car and approached the entrance of Qingcheng Residence, his phone rang.
Looking at the caller ID, he saw it was "Michelle Allen!"
He answered the call, and a cold voice came through immediately, "You're late on your first day?"
"I'm sorry, I'm almost there!" Chasel quickly replied.
In that moment, all traces of his earlier arrogance vanished; he sounded like a husband caught in the act, facing his wife's scolding."You have three minutes. If you're not here, I'll dock your pay!" Michelle's voice was deliberately low, laced with menace.
At the same time, Chasel could faintly hear Belle crying on the other end, calling for her dad.
"One minute, just give me one minute, I promise I'll be there!" Chasel exclaimed, not daring to waste another second.
He hung up and sprinted away.
Watching Chasel's frantic figure, Xane was momentarily stunned. "J... Suzaku, Aurelian..."Suzaku chuckled softly, "You haven't seen this side of him, have you? The Aurelian you know is decisive and commanding, but this is the Aurelian filled with the warmth of everyday life."
This version of Aurelian Mills felt so much more real and relatable! Regardless of her identity, she was a belief held deep in her heart.
---
Chasel Mills sprinted to Michelle Allen's front door and knocked loudly.
Before long, the door swung open.
"Counting the time it took to open the door, just one minute!" Chasel said, grinning as he pointed at his watch.
Initially, Michelle had been quite displeased with Chasel's tardiness. However, upon seeing him so serious about the "one minute," the icy expression on her face softened a bit."Come in. Belle has been crying since she woke up this morning, asking when her dad will be back. No amount of coaxing seems to help," Michelle said, stepping aside to let him in.
Chasel felt a pang of guilt. How could he have made his daughter wait and cry for so long? He felt terrible.
As soon as Chasel stepped inside, Belle rushed over and threw herself into his arms.
"Dad, why did it take you so long to get here?" she asked, her voice slightly choked with emotion."It's all Dad's fault. I promise I won't be late again," he replied, holding her tightly.
Chasel Mills held Belle tightly, repeatedly assuring her.
After a while, Belle finally turned her tears into laughter and started playing with Chasel.
They spent the morning at home.
On weekends, Michelle Allen usually took care of the kids herself, so the housekeeper didn't come in to work.
Michelle decided to cook for the family.Just then, Chasel spoke up, "If you don't mind, I can cook for you guys."
"Yay! I want to eat Daddy's cooking!" Belle exclaimed, bouncing around like a little fairy.
"You can cook?" Michelle looked at Chasel with a skeptical expression.
"Of course! After all, I've been through cooking classes," Chasel replied proudly.
"Let's hope it's not some weird dish!" Michelle shot him a teasing glare.
However, she was happy to have him take over the cooking, as it meant she could relax. Before long, delicious aromas wafted from the kitchen.
Michelle wrinkled her nose, inhaling the delightful scents, and felt a sense of anticipation growing in her heart.
Finally, Chasel Mills served two meat dishes, one vegetable dish, and a soup on the dining table.
The meal looked and smelled amazing!
