Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: The Culprit

Furina completely froze, her gaze towards Ash was somewhat worried and empty, as if she had just been betrayed by the person she trusted the most.

"What do you mean, my fiancé?" She tried to speak calmly, but she couldn't hide her surprise.

Ash recognized Furina's feelings, she really wanted to be cuddled, even if she was someone who usually acted cold, there would definitely be times like this…

…But…he couldn't fulfill her wish. He wasn't Ash. He was just someone who had wandered into this world.

"Like I said, I'm quite tired today after a long journey. So I need to rest. You love me, right?" Ash patted her head.

"Yes, I love you more than anything. Even though I love my family more, I still love you very much. You are only below them." She replied in a firm voice.

Hearing these words, he couldn't help but feel jealous of The Useless Prince. He had such a perfect fiancée, yet he didn't even try to improve himself?

Furina deserved a much better fiancé than him.

But then again, choosing Ash was her decision after all. So he would respect her decision.

"Then you should be concerned about my health, right? If I spend too much time with you, I'll get tired, right? Very tired. So let's spend time together another day, okay?"

"But after today, I'll have to return to Awakened Academy. And I won't be able to see you for a long time." Although she spoke in a calm voice, her eyes were a little sad and pitiful.

Damn it! There was nothing better than a cold girl who could be a little cute sometimes!!!!!!!

Ash almost wanted to shout to the world that Furina was the cutest and the coolest person he knew. But before humiliating himself, he stopped himself in time.

"Oh, then what a coincidence since I'm also planning to enter Awakened Academy this time."

Hearing that, Furina's eyes slowly lit up again.

"Really?" She spoke in a calm and cold voice, probably happy. What an interesting girl.

Ash wished he could have a girlfriend like this too.

"Um. So if there's anything, please help me out, okay?"

"Okay, I'll ask my dad to let us be in the same class and you won't have to take the entrance exam." As she spoke, she scratched Ash's chin as if she was playing with a dog.

After being satisfied, Furina finally left, leaving Ash alone in this large but quiet room, without a single word of conversation.

It was true that Ash's room was extremely massive, even larger than a soccer field, but it was also very lonely because he was the only one in this place, without a single friend or anything.

Well, before he was reincarnated, Ash was also living alone, but at that time he still had a lot of friends so he didn't feel lonely, completely different from now.

'Okay, then what should I do?' Ash looked around, trying to understand how his living space was arranged.

***

A place without a single separate room was one of the things he could say to describe the place he would stay in from now on.

He didn't even know whether to call this place a house or a room.

This place was on the top floor of his tower, the view from here was majestic and magnificent, but unfortunately… everything else looked extremely strange and out of place.

In the middle of this space was a porcelain statue of Ash, not beautiful but not unacceptably bad either. And under the statue was a giant bed, exactly like the ones for nobles he had seen in movies.

'What kind of idiot would put a bed under a statue? What if the statue fell down while he was sleeping?'

Maybe Ash would just have to move the bed to another place before he went to sleep.

And aside from that stupid statue, everything else in this place was very normal, a typical living space for a Prince, except that it didn't have any rooms.

Ash was almost certain that if he lived with someone else, they wouldn't have any private space. But fortunately, he had this place all for himself.

'Forget it, it's time to sleep…' With his body having been overworked in recent days, Ash slowly headed towards the couch that looked quite comfortable and big enough for him to lie down.

But before he could lie down on it and sleep until the next morning, the door to his place suddenly opened, and there, Modric and a few of his soldiers stormed in.

'Fuck, don't these people care about my fucking privacy?'

Ash wanted to say that out loud and clear, but he restrained himself because the other party was Modric "Genius" Voidveil - the chief of staff of the Voidveil Empire.

If Ash accidentally cursed at him, then probably just a moment later his guards would definitely take action and his body would have dozens of deep dark holes created by bullets.

"What's wrong, brother? Do you have anything to say to me?"

"Of course there is. That's why I came here."

"So what's the problem?" Ash said curtly, just hoping that these guys would leave as soon as possible so he could rest.

"Nothing much, I just wanted to say that we found the culprit."

Ash stood there, still taking in the information just now before his eyes widened and his mouth fell open in shock. The drowsiness from before had also faded away.

He knew that with Modric's genius brain that was far superior to all other geniuses, it certainly wouldn't take him too long to find the culprit.

But Ash never imagined that he would find that person even though an hour hadn't even passed yet.

Truly a great genius of the Voidveil Empire. Luckily he was on the Empire's side.

"Then what should we do now? Who is that person?"

"Well, instead of telling you, why don't you go there and see for yourself?"

"Alright, where should I go to?"

Immediately after hearing Ash's agreement, three of Modric's soldiers immediately rushed towards him, one holding his legs, one holding his arms while the last soldier covered his eyes.

Completely cutting him off from light and everything around him.

He was now no different from a blind man.

"What the hell…" Before Ash could finish his sentence, his mouth was also covered.

Then in the end, only his ears remained.

Were these guys really planning to seal all of Ash's senses? Just how terrifying could the place he was about to go to be?

"Don't worry my little brother, we'll be there soon. But in the meantime, just bear with it." Modric's voice rang out.

Those were the last words Ash could hear before his ears were completely covered, unable to hear anything anymore.

He had become temporarily deaf, blind, and mute in less than a minute. It was worthy of a Guinness record.
