It was obvious that Obadiah was done for.
Even if the impact wasn't fatal, he wouldn't survive the crushing and suffocation that followed. After all, he was just an ordinary man in a mech suit, not a monster like Hulk or Abomination.
But even though Obadiah was taken care of, Mo was still extremely frustrated.
There was nothing he could do—this new module was just too important for him. Even if he didn't know how to play the loaded mods, at the very least, he could still get a Lucky Block.
You have to understand: only through the Lucky Block did Mo have any hope of returning to the Minecraft world.
Sure, Mo thought that stirring up trouble in the Marvel world was kind of fun, but the problem was that he was just too weak right now.
At first glance, the Ender Hand seemed pretty badass, but in reality, Mo could only control objects weighing up to a few dozen tons. This was quite reasonable, though, because in the original game, the Ender Hand could only pick up a single gold block, and a gold block weighs about 19.32 tons.
In fact, when Mo was controlling those cobblestones just now, the Ender Field was already overloaded, causing various degrees of injury to his hands.
Luckily, his body was now data-based, so minor injuries like these healed very quickly.
Besides the Ender Hand...
Mo's stand-in, Steve, was also currently very weak.
Right now, Steve only had a full set of iron armor. His shield and iron sword were almost out of durability, the glass sword he got from a draw had been used up stabbing the Abomination, and worst of all, Mo couldn't gather any resources in the Marvel world. Despite loading several mods, he couldn't use any of them.
Honestly, if Mo could freely travel between the two worlds, wouldn't these Marvel villains just be getting beaten up left and right?
"Damn, what should I do now..."
Standing amidst the wreckage of the underground lab, Mo started to get a headache.
"I wonder what that machine just now was... If it doesn't work, maybe I can ask Stark to buy another one, the same model, and see if it works..."
"But come to think of it, why would a machine have a new feature?"
Feeling suspicious, Mo recalled the scenes when the new modules were triggered. The language module came because the terrorists spoke words he couldn't understand. The Tinkers' Construct module was unlocked because he observed the melting and casting of metals. The Mutant Creatures module was unlocked by killing Abomination, a genetically mutated monster.
So if a new trait is detected from a machine... Machine... Machine...
"Machine? Could it be a tech-related module?"
The thought hit him like a flash of lightning.
"Wait! If 'machine' is a prerequisite for unlocking a tech mod, then it doesn't necessarily have to be that specific machine. Just like how killing Hulk would have also unlocked the Mutant Creatures module since they're both mutants..."
Mo's heartbeat quickened.
Looking around, he noticed that although the lab was wrecked, a few machines had luckily survived relatively intact and seemed usable.
To test his theory, Mo slowly approached one of the machines.
When he placed his hand on it, a system notification indeed rang out in his mind.
> [System Tip: New module trait detected. Research to gain download permissions.]
"It works!"
Mo became instantly excited.
Honestly, he didn't know much about tech mods. Back when he played on servers, he left all the building and crafting to his friends because he thought it was too tedious—he only loved exploring, fighting, and looting.
But now, Mo wasn't aiming for the mods themselves, he just wanted that Lucky Block.
He immediately began studying the machine.
The machine looked like a server cluster—dense wires entangled everywhere, plugged into huge metal circuit boards, with countless indicator lights blinking, and a few fans humming loudly. Mo couldn't understand any of it, his scalp tingling from the complexity.
Fortunately, after a while, a new system prompt sounded.
> [System Tip: 'Circuit Unit' structure researched. You have gained 10% download permission for a new module.]
"Huh?"
Mo was stunned: "Not a direct download?"
As if responding to his confusion, the system, which had been silent until now, actually replied:
> [System Tip: Please research more related structures to unlock full download permissions.]
"...Fine."
Though surprised, Mo accepted it and started studying another machine nearby.
> [System Tip: 'Power Transformer' structure researched. You have gained 25% download permission for a new module.]
Soon another notification rang out.
Mo had figured it out: the system didn't require him to *understand* the machines—just staring at them was enough.
So he quickly moved on to the next machine, dazing at it.
Before long, he succeeded.
> [System Tip: 'Circuit Unit', 'Power Transformer', 'Wrench', 'Steel', and 'Energy Network' concepts researched. You have unlocked the download permission for a new module.]
> [System Tip: Industrial Age mod is now downloading.]
"Awesome!"
Mo excitedly clenched his fist.
But because he'd spent some time studying these machines, just as the new mod began downloading, he heard footsteps coming from the entrance.
Turning his head, he saw that it was Stark.
Of course, Pepper Potts was with him. They were supporting each other, their relationship seemingly warming up after surviving the crisis.
"Is it over?" Stark asked first upon seeing the devastated lab.
"Obadiah is taken care of?"
"Have you ever heard of a dimensional strike?" Mo said, in high spirits and starting to spout nonsense. "I clapped my hands and squashed him from 3D into 2D."
"Huh?" Stark, clueless about what had really happened, actually believed him a little, looking shocked: "Dimensional manipulation? Is that sorcery too? How did you do that—"
Before Stark could finish, the stone wall nearby cracked loudly. The rocks crumbled away, revealing a blood-red mess and the utterly wrecked Iron Monger suit.
"...I knew you were bullshitting."
Seeing this, Stark immediately corrected himself: "You sorcerers can't say a single truthful thing."
"At least I saved you," Mo retorted. "Do you know how much I risked when I used the reactor to save you? Nuclear radiation! My genes might have mutated! And for a sorcerer, that's a massive psychological trauma!"
"I already told you, palladium isn't radioactive!" Stark protested.
"You sorcerers should stick to studying magic instead of babbling every time you hear a science term."
"Are you sure palladium is harmless to the human body?" Mo suddenly smiled.
"Huh?"
Stark froze.
"I'm warning you," Mo said. "That thing on your chest might save you now, but it could also kill you later." He shook his head and walked out while humming a tune: "When you start puking from drinking too much chlorophyll juice, remember to come find me."
Without giving Stark time to respond, Mo vanished into a cloud of purple light.
"Tony, is what he said true?" Pepper Potts immediately turned to question Stark. "Is that thing in your chest dangerous?"
"Uh..." Stark's head started pounding: "Pepper, listen to me..."
---
Mo didn't stick around outside.
After leaving the lab, he immediately went home.
Having defeated both Abomination and Obadiah, the plotlines for Iron Man and Hulk were more or less wrapped up. There might be a few minor things later, but Mo didn't plan to get involved anymore.
The military and S.H.I.E.L.D. would naturally clean up the mess.
As for Mo?
He couldn't care less.
He'd rather spend the time studying new mods.
Unfortunately, the Industrial Age mod was massive, and even after waiting a long time, it still wasn't fully downloaded. Eventually, he got so bored he fell asleep.
It wasn't until noon the next day that the system notification woke the drowsy Mo.
> [System Tip: Industrial Age mod download complete. Load it now?]
"...Huh?"
At first, Mo was still groggy, but he quickly reacted, sitting up sharply: "Load it! Load it now!"
> [System Tip: Industrial Age mod successfully loaded.]
> [System Tip: Because you have downloaded and run a brand new mod, you have been granted a Lucky Block. The Lucky Block will randomly select one item from any known module.]
With a system prompt, a colorful block appeared in Steve's inventory.
Seeing the Lucky Block, Mo instinctively wanted to open it immediately—but the image of Nick Fury's coal-black face suddenly flashed through his mind.
"Calm down…"
Taking a deep breath, Mo forced himself to relax.
Last time, because of Nick Fury's bad luck aura, he only drew a lousy Alchemist's Pouch, which frustrated him badly.
This time, to draw something good, Mo decided to rely on superstition.
He got up, took a serious shower, changed into fresh clothes, and sincerely prayed to Notch (the creator of Minecraft) before opening the Lucky Block.
As the Lucky Block opened with a flash of white light— A new item appeared in Steve's hand: Homeward Scroll.
"I—WTF!!"
Mo cried out in shock.
