Episode 48: Flame vs Blood

Juvia's heart pounded like a drum against her chest.

The crimson-cloaked woman stood calmly amid the chaos she had summoned, her gaze sharp and cold as winter steel. Shadows rippled around her feet like hungry wolves, clawing at the ground, waiting for her command.

Ha-jun stepped beside Juvia, his blade drawn, his breath even. "Stay behind me."

But Juvia's voice rang clear, steady. "No. I'm not the girl who ran from darkness anymore."

She stepped forward, facing the Queen's daughter without flinching. "You're her blood, aren't you?"

The woman smirked, lifting her chin. "And you… are the mistake she failed to erase."

With a sudden motion, the shadows lunged.

The exiles moved fast—chanting ancient protective runes, casting barriers of light and frost. Ha-jun charged forward with ferocious speed, slashing through two shadow beasts with precision.

Juvia closed her eyes, reaching deep into the well of energy that now lived inside her. She felt it—the pulse of the Moon's heart, the heat of the ancient fire coursing through her veins.

"By starlight and fate," she whispered, "I call the celestial flame."

Her body ignited in radiant fire, wings stretching wider than ever before, and with a single beat, she soared into the air, raining beams of silver and gold onto the battlefield. Shadows shrieked and scattered like leaves in the wind.

The crimson heir snarled.

"You think you're powerful?" she screamed, her voice shaking the trees. "Let me show you what real bloodline power looks like."

She slammed her palms into the ground.

A red fissure tore open beneath her feet, and from its depths rose a Colossus of Bloodstone, its eyes glowing like twin eclipses.

Juvia's fire dimmed briefly. "That… is new."

Ha-jun appeared beside her, panting. "Tell me you have a plan."

She nodded. "Hit it from behind. I'll distract it."

He dashed off without hesitation.

Juvia dove, spiraling toward the bloodstone monster. Its massive fist came flying toward her, but she dodged mid-air, hurling a comet of flame into its chest. The beast roared, stumbling—but not falling.

The Queen's daughter chanted something ancient, her eyes now fully red, veins glowing black with corruption.

"You can't win, girl!" she shouted. "This war has already ended once!"

Juvia's voice rang like a bell through the fire and smoke. "Then it's time to rewrite the ending."

Just then, Ha-jun leaped onto the monster's back, stabbing a glowing rune into its nape. The bloodstone beast convulsed, then shattered—exploding into a hundred red shards.

Silence.

The heir snarled, her power flickering. "You think this is over?"

But before she could cast another spell, an arrow whizzed past Juvia—embedding itself in the enemy's chest.

She gasped.

Out of the shadows stepped a new figure.

A young man in obsidian armor. His face… hauntingly familiar.

Juvia's breath caught in her throat. "Kai?"

The boy's smile was sad. "It's been a long time, sister."

Ha-jun looked between them, stunned. "Wait… sister?"

Kai nodded. "There's more to your past than you've been told, Juvia. And I'm here to help you remember."
