Episode 50: Echoes of the Past
The ruins trembled beneath their feet as Juvia stood surrounded by the six spectral warriors of the Celestial Guardābeings thought to have vanished with the collapse of the Moon Kingdom.
Each figure shimmered in faint hues of silver, gold, and celestial blue. Their faces were partially obscured by magical veils, yet Juvia felt something strange⦠as if they knew her intimately.
One of them stepped forwardāa woman with long braided hair made of starlight. Her voice echoed, not just in the air, but in their minds.
"The Moon Flame has awakened."
Juvia met her gaze. "What do I need to do?"
Another figure, taller and cloaked in constellations, answered with a deep voice. "You must remember who you were⦠in all lives. Only then can you control the moonlight inside you."
Kai nodded. "They'll guide you through your past timelinesāeach one holds a shard of your true power."
Ha-jun frowned. "What about the Queen? If she's crossing timelines, she could already be hunting us."
"She is," the starlit woman said. "And worse⦠she's awakened her other self."
A silence fell.
Kai's voice lowered. "You mean⦠the Void Queen?"
The warriors nodded.
Juvia shivered. "What is that?"
"She is the version of the Queen who embraced the end," the warrior explained. "She feeds on forgotten souls and broken time. If she finds you first, she will erase you from every life you've ever lived."
Ha-jun stepped forward. "Then let's not waste time."
The six warriors raised their hands, creating a glowing circle of runes. One by one, Juvia, Ha-jun, and Kai stepped in.
A pulse of light swallowed them.
FLASH
Juvia opened her eyes to the sound of swords clashing, fire burningāand her hands gripping a bloody blade.
She was no longer in the ruins.
She stood in the middle of a battlefield⦠dressed in golden armor, a crown cracked on her head.
Soldiers bowed as she passed. They called her "General Yuliana of the Burning Moon."
Ha-jun appeared beside herāhair shorter, eyes sharper, dressed in black. "We're in your second lifeā¦"
Kai's voice echoed through the wind. "This timeline is incomplete. It ended in betrayal. You must find the moment you lost yourself."
Juvia tried to speakābut a scream pierced the skies.
She turned just in time to see a soldier running toward herāa young woman with tears in her eyes.
"Sister!" she cried.
Juvia's heart raced. She knew that voice⦠but couldn't remember her name.
The girl collapsed in her arms, a dagger buried in her back.
Juvia screamed. "No!"
Ha-jun pulled her away just as shadows surrounded the camp.
Figures with hollow eyes and blackened skin emerged from the fogācreatures of the Void Queen.
They hissed, "She remembers. Kill her before she reclaims her power."
Juvia's blade ignited with moonfire. She stood tall, golden armor blazing in the red sun.
"Not in this life," she growled. "Not ever again."
She charged.
And the battlefield erupted.
