Chapter 43 - Chapter 43: The Cosmic Cube

After overnight modifications by the Skrulls, the plane gained the ability to enter space.

Once Maria Rambeau had sent Monica to her parents' home, everyone boarded the aircraft and launched toward the stars.

Mar-Vell's laboratory wasn't on Earth but housed within a spacecraft orbiting the planet. This vessel was their destination.

Carol, who had recovered portions of her memory, remembered the coordinates and piloted the plane directly into orbit.

Shortly after leaving Earth's atmosphere, the sensation of weightlessness indicated they had entered space.

Maria activated the retrofitted gravity generator, restoring normal conditions inside the cabin as Carol used the control panel on her arm to pinpoint the laboratory's exact location.

While Carol worked, the viewscreen suddenly illuminated, revealing an enormous spacecraft materializing before them.

"A scientist actually has such a massive ship?" Marcus marveled at the vessel. "The Kree are truly wealthy. I definitely need to acquire a spaceship of my own someday."

"This is Dr. Lawson's laboratory—a Kree Imperial Cruiser."

Using a warship as a laboratory demonstrated how highly the Kree Empire valued Mar-Vell's work.

As they approached, the cruiser's imposing presence became increasingly overwhelming.

Talos seemed familiar with the location. He guided everyone forward until they reached a spacious laboratory chamber.

In one section of the lab, a cube emitting blue light appeared before them.

"Is that the energy core?" Maria asked.

"In Mar-Vell's notes, it's called the Cosmic Cube," Carol replied.

Marcus reached out and took the Cosmic Cube in his hand.

"Yes, the Cosmic Cube—a vessel containing infinite energy. I usually call it a Space Stone." The moment he held it, Marcus felt boundless energy flowing from it. This energy represented an endless supply of Aya Stars.

"What an incredible artifact. Using it merely as an energy source seems wasteful."

Marcus casually placed the Cosmic Cube into a metal containment box. He planned to take it back to Earth and gradually extract the Aya Stars. He could already envision the various battle armors he would create with it.

"Wooo~~~"

A deep call echoed throughout the ship. It was Talos signaling to the Skrulls hiding aboard.

"Wooo~~~"

Waves of identical calls responded from all directions as numerous Skrulls emerged from hiding.

Talos embraced a female Skrull, then affectionately touched the head of a small Skrull child beside her.

"Ah!"

Suddenly, the female Skrull screamed upon seeing Carol in Kree combat attire.

Although the uniform's color had changed, they still recognized the gear worn by those who had hunted them. No matter its appearance, they would never forget it.

"It's alright—she led us to you. She's our friend," Talos reassured the frightened Skrulls.

Carol stepped forward, offering an apologetic look to the gathered refugees.

Just as everyone began to calm down, the laboratory doors suddenly slid open, and several individuals in green combat uniforms entered.

"Are you now calling the enemy your brothers?"

Yon-Rogg asked while holding Goose.

Their arrival put everyone on high alert. As Fury reached for his gun, a voice came from nearby.

Turning toward it, he saw a blue-skinned woman aiming a weapon at him, gesturing for him to discard his firearm.

Approaching the group, Yon-Rogg tossed Goose aside and shook his head disapprovingly at Carol's modified uniform.

"What happened to your original combat gear?"

"As we suspected," said the blue-skinned woman, "she's been brainwashed."

"The Supreme Intelligence will restore her to normal," added a bearded man wielding twin swords.

They had already secured the entire ship. All the Skrulls would die, and Carol would be taken back for reconditioning.

"You've been lying to me all along!"

Carol's anger flared as she attempted to unleash her energy powers, but found them somehow neutralized.

"What we gave you, we can certainly take away."

Hearing this, Carol rushed at Yon-Rogg, but her combat skills were no match for his. He knocked her down with minimal effort.

A panel on Yon-Rogg's arm guard opened, emitting pulsing green energy that immobilized Carol.

"Hey Goose, why's your fur all messed up?"

Marcus's voice suddenly cut through the tension. He casually smoothed Goose's fur before strolling through the crowd toward Yon-Rogg.

"Hello again, Commander of the Kree Invasion Force."

Seeing Marcus appear, Yon-Rogg's expression darkened. He hadn't expected to encounter the man he least wanted to see aboard a Kree Imperial Cruiser.

"Why are you here?"

"Excellent question!" Setting Goose down, Marcus smiled. "Obviously, I'm here to stop you. Did you think I came for these refugees?"

He cared little about the Skrulls' survival. His interest lay in the energy weapons they carried and the equipment worn by Yon-Rogg's team.

When he'd seen Carol unable to act earlier, he'd recognized both her human nature and remembered who she was.

For these Kree, he couldn't help but intervene. He was confident they wouldn't escape this time.

With casual precision, Marcus placed his hand on Carol's neck and pinched the inhibitor device attached there. Void energy surged from his fingers.

Click~

The inhibitor sparked violently before Marcus wrenched it off completely.

Immediately, Carol felt her powers return—stronger than before—surging uncontrollably throughout her body.

"Find somewhere to channel that energy. These guys belong to me."

As he spoke, Marcus drew his energy blade. Void energy gradually illuminated the weapon, creating a buzzing sound as it cut through the air. The blade instantly carved a blue, fan-shaped arc of light, simultaneously opening a deep gash across Yon-Rogg's chest.

"Compared to six years ago, you haven't improved much."

Marcus swung the blade again, this time targeting Yon-Rogg's neck rather than his chest.

Bzzzz~~~~

"Don't think you're the only one who's evolved. Before you transformed into that monster, you were no better than me!"

The device on Yon-Rogg's arm emitted powerful vibrations. His equipment had been significantly upgraded since their last encounter. He didn't believe Marcus could kill him in his current state.

His assessment proved correct. Without transforming, Marcus couldn't completely overcome the defensive energy field.

Swish~

A green energy beam struck Marcus, but he showed no reaction, as if he hadn't been hit at all.

While everyone looked on in confusion, a green light shot from Marcus's hand, piercing the arm of the Kree who had fired and pinning it violently to the wall.

Now everyone could see clearly—this wasn't a beam of light but a razor-sharp throwing blade.

"It seems your subordinates are getting impatient. Allow me to expedite your journey to the afterlife."
