(Alys Prov)
"What's your problem?" asked Dane.
Drake left a while ago and here I am, banging myself on the wall. Why do I feel freaking guilty?! I didn't do anything, in the first place!
I shook my head and waited for him to place my food on the coffee table. "Porridge?" I asked him. I'm so hungry! Can't he give me something more substantial? As if porridge would fill me up!
He snickered and shoved the spoon on my hands. "So much art. Do I look like I know how to cook?"
"Well, Manang is here! Did I tell you to cook?"
Ah, seriously! Dane is really Daddy's son! Sooooo philosophical!
He stuck his tongue out and smugly walked out the door. Look at this kid! You'd think I wasn't four years older than him, huh!
I reached for the spoon and started eating. I wanted to go to the reunion but sadly, I couldn't make it. I feel really sick, add to the stress of Drake coming here.
"Ah, seriously!"
Do I need to ask him? But why? I'm happy with my life, do I need to complicate things again? Ugh!
"Hey!"
"Hey..."
Aya walked towards me and jumped on my bed. My head still hurt! "Stop jumping!"
She shrugged and rolled on my bed. "Aunt Dana said you were sick," she said. I nodded and continued on eating this thing. Seriously, Dane! Don't ever step foot in the kitchen again.
"Body ache."
"Oooh. So you're just here at home?"
I nodded. Instead of going with Tripp, I'm just here at home all day. Nice.
Aya beamed and then she pulled out her HD. "Movie marathon?" I shook my head. "Please?"
I sighed. "I just watched it last night, eh. Something different?" I tried to persuade her. if I would be asked, I'd rather just sleep all day and then be energized again tomorrow! It's almost a week before the wedding! Ah, freak!
She pouted and rolled over once again. Still a child's mind! "You're boring, eh."
"I'm sorry I'm sick."
She stuck her tongue out. What's with people today? They're all doing that, huh.
"Just tell me about Drake! Quick!"
"Aya!" I reprimanded. How does she feel about Drake and me, soap opera? Watching every single incident? I know Aya loves gossip but... oh, well. I'm no exception to her!
Their wedding will go ahead next week, so... game over for Drake?"
I frowned at her. Drake? Really? Aya can't do anything good in life! Next I'll force her to make up with Kent! She's gotten even crazier since they broke up, huh!
"That's so stingy!" she whined.
I sat down next to her, Indian sit and patted her forehead. "You gossip," I said.
"Can you blame me? Your story is so interesting! All you need is popcorn, a movie is fine!" she said with that freaking glow in her eyes.
That's awesome, Aya! I'm not really your best friend, huh! I'm just a random girl on the side that you happen to be interested in love life with.
"Heh. Shut up."
I leaned over and grabbed my pillow and hugged it. She squeezed in next to me. Annoying Aya!
"Besh... but seriously, it's really the end game when they get married... unless you have a peg to be a mistress? I'll still support you! Drake 'til the end of time!"
I grabbed the pillow and then hit her on the head. "Aish. It's really you! The other day you were so handsome with Tripp, now you're still with Drake forever! Indecisive much, Gabriella Pineda?"
Because I said her complete name, she fell silent. I only use her name when I'm serious.
She sighed. "Serious, Alys. How is it?"
I paused. Why does everyone keep on asking me how is it? It's not as if I'm suddenly going to run to stop Drake from getting married! It's not just me... Tripp is here, Cristine. I'm not the only one affected by this. Everyone will be hurt once I make a mistake.
"He broke up with me."
"And there has to be a reason," she said.
I smiled at her and tapped the pillow I was holding. Here we go again... that damned reason! He's like a box that I want to open but I'm afraid of what I'll see once I open him. There's two possibilities: either I'll go running back to him or I'll hate him even more and continue with my life. Both choices have their risks.
"Yeah, there's a reason..."
"Do you already know?" she asked, urgency evident in her voice.
I shook my head and closed my eyes. "Don't wanna."
"Alys!" she shouted. "Ask him!"
"I don't want to," I said without any energy. I'm sick and tired and exhausted.
She held my hand and made me look at her. "Ask her, Alys Zyril Ferrer-Perez. Ask him and if you still don't like him, I'll shut up for life."
"Aya..." my voice trailed off. "Tripp is a good man. Why can't it just be him, just us?" I asked her.
Everybody wants me with Drake. Drake, Drake, Drake. Why doesn't anyone ask me what I want? Where can I have fun? What if Drake wants me? Should I like him too? Do I have no choice? Isn't this my life?
She raised both her hands and cupped my face. "Listen. You and Tripp good together. You and Drake epic together."
I smiled at her. Yes. We're epic when we're together. We had our time.
"Now, are you going to talk to him?" she asked, one more time.
I nodded. "Yes."
Maybe I am finally ready.
She clapped her hands and jumped on the bed, again. "Yehey! Wait, I'll call him, huh?"
"Huh?"
She smiled and gave me a peace sign." "He's just outside! I met earlier when I entered. He said you won't talk to him so that's it, I forced you. Hehe."
"You traitor!" I said and chased after her. She laughed out loud. Really, why is my best friend crazy?
She was panting when we stopped. She raised her hand and motioned me to stop. "Wait, Alys... I thought you were sick! You're not!"
"Traitor!!"
"Heh! Shut up! I'm going to call Drake's other half!"
I turned around and went into the CR. I got a pill from the bottle and swallowed it. Okay, Perez. Just calm down. After this, you'll be quiet... finally.
I stayed for another 2 minutes inside the CR. Aya was gone, I'm sure. If she's still there, I'm sure she'd already put me in the CR and dragged me out.
I'm scared to go out... what will I say when I see Drake? Hi? Hello? Sorry about earlier? Why did you leave me?
Too many things left unsaid.
Slowly, I opened the door. Okay, Alys. Everything will be alright.
And he's there, standing by the door frame.
"Drake," I uttered.
He was staring at me, like he's waiting for me to ask the damn question.
Why the hell did you leave me before? It's easy to say but once I've said it, there's no turning back. This question will open a hell-hole of what ifs.
"Talk."
He sighed and took a step forward. "You were too in-love with me, Alys. That's why."
