Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: A Variable in the Grand Design

Sure enough, a boy who loves to laugh will never have bad luck. After wandering around for what felt like an eternity, Alan finally found Bruce.

At this time, Bruce was lying weakly beside a spring-fed pool, looking haggard and exhausted, his spirit utterly crushed.

"Ah, Bat, you have to cheer up." Alan stepped forward and offered his unique brand of comfort. "Come on, try hard. You have to poop hard. It doesn't matter if you can't poop; at least you can fart."

Bruce slowly woke up, too weak to even lift his eyelids. "It's dangerous here," he said with great difficulty. "Let's go."

"You've rewarded yourself so many times in the past few days that you've become this weak," Alan looked at him with disdain and advised, "If you force it, it will all be gone. You can't force this kind of thing."

"…"

Bruce rolled his eyes upwards, thinking in a depressed mood that it would be better to just die.

"He rolled his eyes after just a few words," Alan kept on talking. "Bat is such a child."

Thump.

Bruce fainted on the spot, probably because he just wanted to die peacefully.

"Someone, call an ambulance! Batman has died of excessive self-pleasure!" Alan looked around, and seeing that no one responded, he stood up and examined the spring pool, pinching his chin. "It seems drinking that amber gold didn't prevent the big event from happening after all."

The next second, Alan's expression blossomed into a bright smile. The thought of a female version of Batman's soul being drowned is so exciting.

Boom!

At that moment, an underground engineering armored vehicle broke through the wall. Through the cockpit glass, Alan saw that it was Tim driving, with Stephanie and Damian accompanying him. They had roughly determined the location using tracking devices and had then dispatched the armored vehicle to clear the way. Apparently, the Court of Owls' lair was equipped with a signal-blocking device, which had made it so difficult to find them.

"It's the master and Alan!" Opening the door, Damian and Stephanie rushed forward to help Bruce up.

While waiting to get into the vehicle, Tim immediately turned on the signal booster. After all, Dick and Jason were still nowhere to be seen. Two moving red dots suddenly appeared on the dashboard, and the armored vehicle was quickly driven over to provide support. Within fifteen minutes, they ran into Dick and Jason, who had been wandering around like headless flies.

"Evacuate." The ground-drilling armored vehicle could break through walls or burrow into the ground. It didn't need to follow any route at all.

"Being a superhero really costs money," Alan said, opening the car window. "I'll go first. You don't have to wait for me for dinner." In an instant, he disappeared.

The five young heroes focused on Bruce. They couldn't control Alan anyway.

In a secret surveillance room in the Court of Owls' lair, a group of judges wearing owl masks watched the surveillance footage showing the Bat Family evacuating safely. They had no intention of stopping them. If the Talon Legion attacked collectively, no one would escape.

"The first step of the ritual is complete. We need to report the results to the great master."

There was another group present, or to be more precise, another group of creatures. They were draped in black robes, their hideous and terrifying faces vaguely visible, like a humanoid race evolved from amphibians. These were intelligent creatures that lived deep underground, believers who worshipped the Bat God, calling themselves the Strigoi Priests.

"The rest is up to us," the first judge nodded slightly. This was just the beginning. Next, they would guide Bruce step by step to complete the set ending. The reason they hadn't killed Bruce was because he was the key to the portal to the dark multiverse. Once he died, all their efforts would be wasted, so they had allowed the five young heroes to rescue him. Of course, this was all part of the plan.

"But a variable has emerged. Can you still control the direction?" The variable the Strigoi Priest was referring to was Alan, a character that had never been part of their plans. Looking at the number of superheroes in the world, it was wishful thinking for the Court of Owls, based in Gotham City alone, to implement the plan. If Superman or Wonder Woman intervened, the results would be disastrously different. Therefore, their higher-level organization, the Council of Owls, had been providing cover, deliberately creating numerous incidents to distract the superheroes.

"Does the variable you are talking about refer to me?" At some point, Alan was already in the monitoring room.

Suddenly, there was silence. Can you play by the rules of common sense? We villains are holding a meeting to create some mystery and warm up the plot. Why are you coming out to cause trouble?

The owl judges were confused. The Strigoi Priests were also in a state of confusion.

"You can't let him go! Kill him immediately!"

At the command, hundreds of Talon warriors attacked one after another. If they let him go and the secret was leaked, then everything they had done would be in vain.

"Blade Dance, activate!" In an instant, twelve sword shadows unfolded, blooming in all directions.

The sudden special attack made it impossible for the Talon warriors in the front to dodge. They watched helplessly as the sword passed through their bodies. One second they stood frozen, and the next they broke into pieces.

"You have no martial ethics, and you like to fight in groups, right?" Alan said. "I'll call the Justice League and the Avengers to deal with you." He went invisible and disappeared without a trace.

At this, the Talon warriors gathered together to protect the Owl Judges and Strigoi Priests, preventing Alan from turning back for a sneak attack. The judges and priests were but flesh and blood and could not protect themselves.

"I didn't fool you this time," Alan said, reappearing. He hadn't actually left. He couldn't help but sigh, "It's hard to fool people nowadays. The world is fickle, and people's hearts are no longer the same as they used to be."

"You missed a key point," Alan said sternly. "I'm not just good with a sword." After saying that, he threw up his cloak, and a dense rain of darts shot out like pear blossoms. Even with the human wall formed by the Talon warriors, darts eventually hit the judges and priests.

"Ah! My eyes!"

"My mouth hurts!"

"I've lost a piece of flesh on my face!"

There were screams one after another, but those who could wail were only slightly injured. Many of them were lying flat on the ground.

"Goodbye! Don't see me off."

This time, after Alan disappeared, everyone huddled behind the Talon warriors and slowly moved towards the door. The judges, who were originally thinking about how to deal with this person, now thought it was not feasible. This guy's thinking was different from ordinary people. Was it really possible that he would fall into a trap they set? The answer was like quantum mechanics, in a superposition state of jumping and not jumping.

It took them two full hours to activate their emergency plan and escape through a secret passage, taking what supplies they could and decisively abandoning their base. You don't try to challenge the bottom line of a madman; they have no bottom line at all. Especially a madman who can become invisible. He might lurk for a day and a night just to scare you by setting off firecrackers in the toilet when you go to the bathroom.

In fact, Alan had already escaped and had now reunited with everyone in the Batcave.
