Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Going Merry (2/?)

Listening to Nami, Luffy and the other two looked confused. They all walked over and read the wanted poster and letter Nami had found.

Luffy, Zoro, and Shin'ya had different expressions after reading the letter. Luffy looked completely bewildered, clearly not understanding what was written.

Zoro had an indifferent expression, seemingly uninterested in the letter's contents.

Finally, there was Shin'ya. After reading the letter, a new idea sparked in his mind.

Shin'ya looked at Luffy, Zoro, and Nami and said,

"Isn't our ship being delivered right to us? From the content of this letter, it's clear that the leader of this pirate crew wants to take over a young lady's family fortune, and he's been preparing for three years."

"That young lady's family definitely has ships that can take us sailing. Let's go expose this captain's disguise, disrupt his plan, and then ask the young lady to give us a ship. Sounds fair, right?"

Nami thought for a moment and said, "I think that works."

"Then let's go! Shin'ya, quickly get a small boat, let's hurry over," Luffy said carelessly.

Shin'ya grinned mischievously and said,

"Hehehe, wait a moment. I need to prepare. We don't need to build a new boat—we'll just take this one."

"Wood Release: Multiple Wood Clones! Transformation Jutsu!" Shin'ya once again transformed all his clones into members of the Black Cat Pirates.

"We are now the New Black Cat Pirates! You guys take these old pirate crew members into the ship's hold, and then we'll go meet Captain Kuro, who hasn't been seen for three years. Hehehe~" Shin'ya commanded his clones to work.

Luffy and Zoro both smirked at Shin'ya's actions, Nami was clueless about what was happening.

"Alright, Nami, guide the course. We're going directly to meet the captain of this ship." Then, he yelled to the clones, "Set sail!"

Meanwhile, in Syrup Village—

Usopp was still repeating his daily lie.

"It's an emergency! It's an emergency!"

"Pirates!!! Pirates are coming!!!"

"Pirates are in the village!!! Everyone, run for your lives!!!"

With each desperate cry, the villagers of Syrup Village knew that a new day had begun.

"Hey, Usopp, you're quite early today," some people working in the fields said with a smile.

"Bastard, don't wake people up so early! If I catch you, I'll teach you a good lesson!" Of course, there were also short-tempered ones who stormed out of their houses and yelled at Usopp.

However, almost no one in the village believed the cry of "Pirates are coming."

Usopp had curly hair, wore a brown bandana, and brown overalls.

Of course, the most striking feature was his long nose, inherited from his mother. He was either lying or on his way to lie every day.

Usopp's father was, in fact, a real pirate. Despite knowing his wife was pregnant, his deep-seated yearning for adventure and a desire for freedom led him to abandon his family and sail into the tumultuous sea.

(Yeah, he's def crazy)

He firmly believed the pirate flag was calling him, an irresistible force.

Thus, he resolutely embarked on his pirate journey, completely disregarding his family's feelings.

However, due to long periods of hard work, Usopp's mother's health gradually declined. When Usopp was still young, she was already bedridden.

To bring his mother some hope and courage, Usopp would go to the seaside every morning and quietly gaze at the vast ocean. Then, as usual, he would rush back to the village and shout at the top of his lungs, "Pirates are coming! Pirates are coming!"

Not because pirates were truly attacking—but because Usopp wanted to make his mother believe there were still things to look forward to. He hoped this small lie would give her the will to keep living.

However, fate was cruel. One day, Usopp's mother passed away. Before her death, she told Usopp that she had no regrets and never resented his father.

She said, "A man should bravely pursue his dreams and venture out onto the great sea." Those words were deeply etched in Usopp's heart.

From then on, Usopp set a firm dream for himself—to become a brave warrior of the sea. He wanted to be the bravest warrior on the seas, just like his father.

Today, after repeating his "Pirates are coming" routine, Usopp didn't go to the villa district. Instead, he took Carrot, Onion, and Pepper to the seaside to watch the ocean and play pirate games.

Just as they were tired and about to rest, Carrot suddenly saw a pirate ship appear on the sea and hurriedly called out, "Captain Usopp, come quickly! There's a pirate ship coming toward us!"

Usopp quickly ran over and thought, "Not good." He said, "Carrot, Onion, Pepper—hurry back and warn the village. Tell them pirates are coming and to hide."

Onion looked at him and asked, "What about you, Captain Usopp?"

Usopp's legs were shaking, but he stubbornly said, "You guys go. I'll stop them here." Then, without waiting, he jumped onto a stone pillar.

Not long after, Shin'ya and his group arrived at the coast of Syrup Village.

They docked the pirate ship, and a large group of clones, along with Luffy and Shin'ya's, disembarked in grand fashion.

Usopp, hiding on the stone pillar, watched dozens—maybe hundreds—of people disembark. He was so scared he could barely speak. Trembling, he shouted, "Stop right there! This is the territory of the great pirate Captain Usopp! Leave immediately, or my thirty million subordinates will attack!"

Luffy's eyes lit up. "Amazing! He has thirty million subordinates!"

Usopp, seeing someone actually believe him, couldn't help but get smug. "Of course! So leave now. I won't deal with you this time."

Zoro crossed his arms and said confidently, "We're from the Black Cat Pirates. Our captain is Kuro, bounty: 16 million Berries. If you know what's good for you, step aside—or else."

As soon as Usopp heard that name, he froze. Kaya's butler… wasn't his name also Kuro?

Before Usopp could respond, Shin'ya stepped forward and said, "Sound familiar?

Hehehe… Yes, it's who you're thinking of. We plan to kill everyone in the village today and seize the fortune in the mansion. Hehehe~"

Usopp's legs gave out, and he collapsed to the ground, on the verge of tears.

At that moment, Nami rolled her eyes at Zoro and Shin'ya, then turned to Usopp.

"Alright, calm down. We're pirates, yes, but we're not here to rob you. We're here to help. We ran into this crew at sea. They tried to rob us but failed, so we captured them.

Then we found out they planned to attack the young lady's home on this island. We don't have a ship of our own, so we thought maybe she could give us one if we helped."

She handed Usopp the letter she had found on Jango, then brought him into the ship's hold to see the tied-up Black Cat pirates.

After reading the letter and seeing the prisoners, Usopp finally believed her. Then, looking at the clones who looked exactly like the tied-up pirates, he asked, "What's the deal with these people? Why are there so many identical ones?"

Shin'ya walked over and casually put his arm around Usopp's shoulder. "That's my ability. Let's go—time to deal with Captain Kuro of the Black Cat Pirates."

As they were about to leave, they saw many villagers approaching with farming tools.

Clearly, Carrot and the others had convinced them, and the villagers had shown up ready to fight.

Before anything could happen, Usopp called out and ran over to explain. He handed them the letter and the wanted poster.

Some time later…

"I never thought our village had a pirate captain living among us all this time—and he set his sights on Miss Kaya's family fortune. Despicable! He planned it for three years?"

said one of the villagers in shock.

"Yes, he's incredibly patient. To get that fortune, he disguised himself perfectly. I always thought Butler Kuro was a good man," another muttered, pale-faced.
